Very small museum with a great history. Staff is wonderful. Museum is free. John Lopez sculptures are great. Be sure to check out his gallery in town. The museum takes 45-60 minutes to tour. Lemmon is great little town.

you have to check out this museum , lots of information on how the town got started and they made a movie with Leonardo Dicaprio about a man from the town, there is a giant monument in the museum.
Lots of old artifacts from people when the town was in it;s early stages

The fact that everything in the Museum was / is local (including the Dinosaur bones and artifacts, old ranching implements and equipment, and Buggy / Chuck Wagon). Very cool!!!

Such a fun place. Great for younger kids and kids at heart! Get up close to Dino bones with no crowds and no admission fees. Donations accepted. Our boys 5 and 7 loved looking at the dinosaurs, playing the scavenger hunt and, of course, the gift shop. Also gives a great history of other interests in the area including the town of Lemmon, Hugh Glass, and indigenous peoples.

I am really glad we stopped here on vacation. It was a sweet, quiet place to see artifacts that were found in the area of South Dakota. If you love fossils, or history then you must stop in this museum. The sculptures inside and outside are amazing!! I did not complete this review in a timely manner and have forgotten her name, but I will not forget the woman working there. She was very sweet and lovely to talk to. The discussion of "faith" as soon as you walk in really caught my attention too.

Have to check out this donation only history/dinosaur museum. Lots of amazing fossils and they even have a real archeology room where they clean up fossils after they've been dug up. A theater and several informational videos throughout. Also has many antique ranching and history memorabilia.

Great museum covering local fossil finds (largest triceratop), legendary local hero Hugh Glass (Depicted in the movie "The Revinent") and recent history of early settlers, Lemmon Boss cowman, and the native tribes. 1 museum with 3 separate tracks. Also houses several metal sculptures from local and internationally acclaimed sculptor John Lopez, whose museum is also in Lemmon on Main St.
