John Lopez Sculpture Gallery

A bright spot! This is such a cool place to stop. John Lopez's gallery is so lively and energetic. He served as a great host for our one-day event. Plus, get to know a local and they'll give you directions on how to stop by his workshop. He's working on some exciting stuff and is really gracious about sharing.

I was absolutely blown away and speechless! The gift that this man has is straight from the hand of God!! I meant John, and he's a beautiful soul, he said everyone is born with a gift such as this but we just have to embrace it. It's something I will never forget. To see God's hand at work through another human being is absolutely breathtaking! You go John Lopez. God is working through you! If you ever have the chance to see John's work in lemmon South Dakota please take the time to visit! You won't regret it you're probably never forget it! Such beautiful art, we always check it out when we visit Lemmon. A horse sculpture was outside the gallery (see pic) when we went and the next morning was outside our hotel! Amazingly talented artist, a real treat to see these sculptures up close and around town. There is a map in the gallery showing where the sculptures are, quite a few are in Lemmon or near by communities.

My daughter was here for a job shadow with John Lopez. Mr. Lopez was absolutely delightful and gracious to us. His studio is amazing! You can see the clay versions as well as some pieces he's completed. There are art displays from other artists along with beautiful handmade quilts. There are sculptures around the building. Please stop by the studio if it's open, you won't be disappointed!

Great museum of Metal Sculpture, both Western and other themes. His sculpture of the legendary Hugh Glass fighting off a grizzly bear is at the Grand River museum on the other side of town. If you're in the area both museums are definitely worth a visit.

What an amazing experience, and place to see and be, such cool art work with different metal pieces. Actually got to meet the artist himself, hanging his latest piece.

An amazing gallery with works by an amazing artist. Here's a man who could live anywhere in the world and he chooses to live in beautiful Lemmon in South Dakota. How lucky these people are to have him.

Beautiful sculptures! Worth the 3 hour drive from where we were staying. Wonderfully displayed! You can tell a lot of time was put into these pieces and they are amazing. The people in Lemmon are sweet and friendly.

Drop in and be ready to have your mind blown. There are others who do metal art, yet Mr. Lopez is the standard and shining beacon in this realm. Beautiful gallery, astonishingly masterful pieces of art, and - AND there's no cost of admission. An absolute must for those who love art and especially for those who may not. Worth the trip no matter how far out of the way.

John Lopez was SO accommodating and explained his process to my sons (ages 11 and 12). His art is amazing with several cool photo ops. This is a great stop.

So glad we stopped. Love John’s work and really enjoyed his mom’s willingness to share and answer all our questions. Well worth the adventure off the beaten track.

This is an amazing gallery and Main Street space filled with art and serenity. It is very near the Petrified Wood park and Grand River Museum. Lemmon is definitely worth a visit.

The best of Western Art, and the hybrid metal art of John Lopez on display is something to keep you mesmerized. The designs and the landscape of the sculpture garden is second to non. I visit this location every year and I would keep visiting the gallery.
