Moved to Fort Meade in June of 2022 and I'm so impressed with this small town. The women at city hall have been fantastic everyime I've had to call/go to the office for utilities or code enforcement. The city was ON IT for hurricane Ian, lots of updates via phone, Lineman out the next day, fire department out patrolling making sure everything was safe. And just yesterday we went to their main street Christmas fair! So cute.

Ill start with saying at first, everything seemed normal and they all seemed polite so if youve never had a problem with them, just wait until you need them to fix their mistakes or have compassion for you as a customer. I've had nothing but problems with COFM and the women who work there. There's ZERO customer service skills. They are incapable of handling any real issue with class. When we first moved here they messed up our utility bill by mixing up our account with someone else's. It took me MONTHS to get them to admit fault and fix the issue and refund me the money I had overpaid them. They called me names and treated me like garbage. Then after they tripled their pca rates out of nowhere and I couldn't afford the full bill they shut me off with me and my baby in the middle of the hot summer without warning and wouldn't turn it back on, take partial payment or issue an extension. They said "your bill was the warning". The attitude these women have with me is unreal. Then just recently they messed up running my utility payment check and called me with an attitude demanding I come down and pay in cash or cashiers check as opposed to attempting to try running my check again since my check wasn't the issue and they think there no way they made an error. I called my bank and there was no transaction that they ran my check. I ended up having to pay online (which they didn't mention was even an option to avoid a face to face confrontation) I paid their stupid 40 returned check fee I shouldn't have had to pay AND the $17 "convenience" fee they charge on the website. I dont know what they have against me personally other than the initial confrontation we had when they messed up my utility bill when we first moved here but it's unacceptable. Just because I can't take my business elsewhere they treat me however they want and get away with it. Have some grace, you messed up, stop acting like mean girls in high school taking it out on the customer.

Ok my problem isn't with the ladies in the office, they have always been very nice. But seriously it's the middle of the work week and almost 100 degrees outside and you cut our power off for HOURS without any kind of a notice that you were doing so. I have numerous pets that were frying in my house without air conditioning and if I got a day notice I could of made arrangements for myself or my husband to be home from work. What about people who are electric dependant to stay alive or the lady next door with a newborn at home who now have no power. I'm so frustrated. Everyone I know in different city's there electric company notifies them when they are planning to cut off there power or water. Why can't we have the same curtiousy.?!? We have had this issue numerous times. Send a generic voice-mail or text message to the people paying your outrageous electric bills, I think we deserve that much.
