I can’t say enough good things about the staff. They took my baby girl at the last minute with no appointment for a horrible ear infection and hotspot. She was so miserable but they did everything they could to treat her quickly and comfortably. Lauren answered all my questions and was very thorough in my baby’s after care instructions. I cannot say praise this clinic enough! First, all the staff are wonderful, patient, and kind. They always make accommodations for my “difficult” dog. Second, Dr. Thornton is both my dog’s and my FAVORITE vet we have ever had. He never makes you feel rushed and takes his time to explain every detail. My dog absolutely loved him. Again, I give high praise to this vet clinic and would recommend it to everyone I know.

Ruthie and I are so excited to be new clients at South Athens Animal Clinic. It was a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Thornton and his assistant Tiffany took time to answer all of my questions and to provide recommendations that met Ruthie’s needs. The women at the front desk were organized and efficient. The only place I will take my pets! Dr. Jude Thornton and vet assistant, Tiffany Anderson, have been absolutely amazing - patiently answering all our questions and keeping us calm during a health scare. Our cats now have a clean bill of health and my family is so grateful to have a fantastic veterinarian team in our community.

Absolutely amazing! My husband took our rottsky there today for a checkup. He was so excited to tell me about the wonderful experience! Jude Thornton was amazing with our very anxious pup. He even took plenty of time to explain the medications and treatments they offer. The staff is so sweet and welcoming! AND the pricing is AMAZING. We didn’t spend nearly as much as we thought we would. We are so happy we were able to find this place for our fur family’s health!

BEST VET IN ATHENS!!! Dr. Singh and the entire staff at South Athens Animal Clinic were so knowledgeable and compassionate when my kitten became sick. Dr. Singh and the staff updated me while we awaited test results to determine my kitten's illness and they cared for him as if he was their own! When he was extremely ill, they arranged for me to drop him off on my way to work and pick him up on my way home so they could give him IVs during the day and ensure he received round the clock care. Every single person I encountered was so kind, patient and genuinely cared so much about the kitten and his health. My kitten is healthy and thriving now - I owe his life to South Athens Animal Clinic! You will not find a better vet!

They are super friendly and sweet! They really take their time with things and don't try to just get money from you!

Best veterinary care my pups have ever received! Dr. Thornton and Marcia established phenomenal rapport with my two dogs before examining them to lessen their anxiety and promote cooperation with their visit. Previous veterinarians required one of my dogs to take medication before coming to the vet just to get through an examination, but with Dr. Thornton’s approach, my dog did SO much better and didn’t need medication at all! We highly recommend this clinic and are so happy we found South Athens Animal Clinic!

I recently had to have dental surgery/cleaning on my cat. I am beyond grateful to have chosen South Athens Animal Clinic for various reasons. During her procedure, Dr. Singh took the time to relay information of what is suggested to be performed while my cat was in surgery. They truly care about being transparent on what needs to proceed while taking the time to contact the patient's owner. After 13 teeth were removed due to resorptive lesions, my cat is in great spirits and seems to be more active. Additionally, the prices are beyond reasonable coming from a graduate student. Please do not hesitate to visit South Athens Animal Clinic for your next vet occurrence! Also, they call to check on your animal post-operation.

WOW--is all I can say! What an amazing, pleasurable experience I had visiting with Dr. Thornton and his assistant. They were both very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Dr. Thornton took his time with the exam and gave me great take home instructions for the meds and diet tips. They even called me the following day to check on my girl.
This was our first visit, but I have already started making the transition to SAAC from our previous vet. Super nice staff, affordable prices and an overall amazing experience. South Athens Animal Clinic was the only vet that was able to get my sweet cat, Daisy, in on the week of Thanksgiving! After being turned away from so many places, I was skeptical that there was a reason this vet was the only place could squeeze me in, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. They saw me the same day I called and I had a great experience! They took COVID-safe precautions by having customers wait in the car until it was time for our pets to be seen, eliminating a crowded waiting room from the equation. Dr. Thornton was friendly and thorough. I felt like he really took the time and care to cover all the bases and make sure that we got the right diagnosis for my cat. He answered all of my questions, provided me with the right tools and information to take care of my cats illness, and he even sent me a personal email afterwards with a thorough recap of everything we discussed in-person so that I didn’t forget anything. I would highly recommend this vet to anybody in Athens who needs care for their pet!

Dr. Jude Thornton was fantastic with our stressed-out senior cat, Glitch. He took things slowly, letting Glitch get used to him, even getting on the floor to work with our old boy, when it was obvious the exam table sent Glitch's anxiety through the roof. Dr. Thornton also explained everything to us and gave us time to ask questions; I also felt no pressure to complete extensive procedures or tests unless I wanted to do so. The vet techs were also kind, patient, and efficient; it was a wonderful visit. We recently moved to Athens and we were so sad to leave our last wonderful vet, but I feel that I have found us a new home. This will be our vet from now on.

4/4/2023 Update - Sadly, they have discontinued Saturday hours. Makes it difficult for anyone who works with no support at home. However, the quality of care and service by the techs and staff is still great!

Cannot emphasize enough how good the vets and tech team are. So thorough, compassionate. and helpful. We moved away from Athens and still drive back 1+ hour to go to SAAC. Above and beyond quality of care

Absolutely fantastic and accommodating staff, we had a mix up with our first appointment and they still saw us. Dr. Thorton is wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable, my kitties will be coming here for the foreseeable future!

This is a great place to bring your pet. Very caring service and spend plenty of time with you and your pet in a visit. Reasonable rate for visits and is not pushy on any additional services.
