Lava Salon - Avondale

I found Lava Salon-Avondale after a very bad mishap elsewhere. I called for an emergency color correction and was able to get in that same day!!

Lauren took my call and made me feel at ease off the bat. She was attentive, polite, and worked quickly for an answer. Thank you!!

Taylor is the absolute ANGEL that saved my hair! She is the MVP, Olympic Gold Medalist, Rockstar and all the other adjectives for AMAZING that fixed my “cheetah spots” on the crown of my head and gave me the hair I wanted! She listened to all of my concerns and was very thorough in explaining her plan of action. Thank you!!!!

The salon itself is SO cool. I felt like I was getting my hair done in an art installation. Everyone there was so friendly and made wonderful conversation.

Since I first moved to Charleston, I have tried several different salons in the area, but never really felt I was getting my moneys worth (for me to spend $50+ on a fairly basic women’s haircut, I want it to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience). I’ve now been going to Lava for cut and color for several months now and I am never disappointed. Lauren is very chill and easy to talk to . She always makes me feel pampered, while still working within my budget. I had actually given up on getting my hair colored professionally when I first moved here because it was so expensive, but with the salon’s pricing and the frequency I end up needing touch ups, it is actually affordable for me on a grad student budget.

First time at Lava and it's been a long time since I've been to a good salon, but now I'll never go anywhere else. The decor is amazing, the atmosphere is chill, friendly, and inclusive, and the stylists are amazing. I had my hair done by Lauren and she is phenomenal. If you or someone you know is looking for a salon, especially if you're a member of the alphabet family, give Lava a call.

I love the vibe, atmosphere, and wonderful barber/stylists available. The price is right, no heavy sales pitches or pressure, and the decor is quirky and cool. I took my husband who got exactly what we wanted and couldn't be happier! I went yesterday for a full change from blonde to brunette for the fall. Fantastic experience! Absolutely in LOVE with the cut and color!! Taylor and Chris - thank you for amazing service!!!

First of all, I wanna thank you to all the people who wrote the reviews here. I had no idea where to go because i just moved to Charleston 8months ago and reviews literally made me to come here Lava Salon. And i am so happy about my decision!
I got layered haircut, and it came out exactly what i wanted. The hairstylist ‘Micaela’, she did amazing job even i showed her just one picture of this hairstyle. Also not only the hairstylist also front desk staff was very nice and friendly from reservation process to checkout!
The location is surprisingly approachable to all the restaurants, bars and coffee shops.
Inside/outside both interior design is catching my eyes too. No wonder why they are so professional and stylish!

Lauren does such an amazing job every time! I always leave with hair that looks so much better than I envisioned and she’s so helpful in guiding me to what works best with my hair. She’s so sweet and makes me feel comfortable every time!

I booked a very last minute appointment and I was super anxious about it. I hadn't had a haircut or styling in years and Alex made me feel so comfortable and welcome. I've already had so many compliments on my curls and I'm so grateful. Definitely coming back. Tysm!

I had an amazing experience with Taylor Smith!! I asked for layers and she delivered!! I called the same day and luckily they had a spot open and were able to get me in. I loved how each stylist decorated their own area, allowing their personalities to shine through. Definitely recommend!!

I have been going to Lava Salon for the past year and am super happy there. The vibe is incredibly chill, accepting, hip creative and fun. I get highlights of bright color and short pixie hair cuts. Always trending. Love the stylists! They are well
informed and professional.

I had my first visit with Lauren H. and she was amazing! Super sweet and did a killer job with my hair. She was able to give me the look I had been wanting for years that previous stylists (at other salons out of town) messed up. The salon itself is super eclectic and cute, the rest of the staff I spoke to was very sweet and welcoming. They offer drinks and the rinse station has a TV mounted to the ceiling so you can watch cute animal videos when getting your hair washed!

I had an amazing experience at Lava Salon with Chris and Lauren! I had my hair cut by Chris and dyed by Lauren and they were both absolutely awesome!! I didn't really know what I wanted going in, but I talked it through with them and gave them an idea of what i wanted and they totally nailed what I was going for! I'm so in love with my haircut and color! Lauren and Chris were so friendly, kind, and cool, I had such great conversations with both of them and the time flew by! I've gotten so many compliments on my hair already! I highly recommend them both and will definitely be going back! Thanks so much!!

Dominique is amazing, and the staff here are always pleasant and helpful. There's always clientele getting something done, and I've never seen anyone with a negative attitude or anything to complain about. Highly recommend!

Booked a really last minute appointment here and could not be more happy with my experience! The salon is super fun and colorful and designed like no other salon I've ever been to which was really cool. My stylist, Lauren, took the time to do a pretty thorough consultation to learn exactly what I was looking for and was able to put into words what I couldn't and explain to me what she was doing throughout the process. She was by far the best stylist I've ever visited. If you're like me, sometimes getting your hair done can be incredibly anxiety inducing because of the awkward and forced feeling conversations in salons can have. Lauren was the first stylist I did not feel uncomfortable with. She seemed genuinely interested in talking to me and it felt like we were friends by the end of the appointment! Along with Lauren, all of the other stylists in the salon were very sweet and welcoming. Overall, I highly recommend going to Lava Salon if you need to get anything done. I will definitely be back next time I need to get my hair done!

This is a review of the Park Circle location. I am new to the area and just stumbled onto this cute salon. Brier was thoughtful, super relatable, and did a great job on my color and cut. I usually am a once a year hair salon kind of gal, but I liked Brier so much, I might take up a new looks that requires more visits. Thanks for being you Brier :-)

Decided to book an appointment on a whim last week, and I was not disappointed. First time coming to Lava, and I felt very welcomed by the staff! My stylist Lauren was very knowledgeable and friendly as I was trying to get into a new style for my hair that I knew little about. During the session, she was kind enough to share advice for hair treatment and what kind of cuts she was planning to achieve the look I was going for. I fell in love with my new haircut, and it was a no-brainer that I was going to rebook at Lava again!

In love with Lava! Despite his unfortunate astrological placements, Chris is not just king of witty banter, he’s also a great stylist. I appreciated how he kept checking in with me during the cut, and how meticulous he was with his attention to detail. It is important to me to go to a . salon where the stylists can and will do “alternative” cuts, and I am happy to find that at Lava. 10/10 will visit again!

Can't recommend Lava Salon highly enough! Chris is an excellent barber and all-around lovely person. I've been experiencing some hair loss recently and he always takes that into account when cutting my hair.

Somehow I haven’t reviewed this awesome salon yet! I’ve been going to Jackie at Lava for 5 years and have been receiving compliments on my hair ever since! I have since moved from West Ashley to Summerville and make the travel because it is well worth it! Jackie is absolutely amazing and so is the rest of the staff here. I am one to change my hair up a lot and Jackie has always exceeded my expectations! She is truly a master at her craft and I can’t recommend her enough. When I first moved here I had been previously going to the same stylist for 10 years and was nervous to start over with someone new. I’m so happy I found Lava and Jackie. I initially went to this salon because of it’s excellent reputation, but also loved its unique and creative vibe. I’ve been in a lot of salons and can say I have never seen a salon like Lava. It’s an experience in itself. I highly recommend this place and of course my girl Jackie!

Chris has been incredible. Every time he cuts my hair I ALWAYS get compliments on how well the fade looks. He is a wonderful human being and is great to talk with. I look forward to getting many more haircuts from him.

Was a bit pricey but I got a great men's haircut especially for it being my first time here. Allison was very conscious of my needs and was extremely friendly. Definitely recommend giving them a try.
