We did a ghost tour and our guide, Bryan was exceptional! We went during Halloween weekend on a full moon so you can imagine it was pretty busy out but Bryan made sure we saw everything and had plenty of picture taking opportunities. Bryan is a masterful storyteller and our whole group had the best time. Highly recommend this tour group and the bookstore itself is charming.

Such a great independent bookshop, with very friendly staff and some lovely touches such as ‘blind date with a book’.

I did the ghost tour with Brian the night before Halloween and it was brilliant. I’m not ‘into ghosts’ by any stretch of the imagination, but Brian is clearly a very gifted storyteller and entwined Charleston history and ghost stories with amazing skill and enthusiasm - I learned a lot. A rendition of an Edgar Allan Poe poem at the end was especially moving. He also made some great recommendations for photo opportunities. I was gripped for the entire tour and would definitely recommend, even for ghost sceptics!

In Charleston for work and as my custom for travel I always try to visit the local bookstores. Buxton did not disappoint. Great selection of books and great customer service. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Must go if you’re on King Street. Beautiful and well-organized shop in the heart of downtown! Employees are friendly and helpful. They carry books of all genres for all ages. Small and mighty! And they have ‘blind date with a book’ specials; wrapped books which only give a brief synapsis at a discounted price. You could spend much time here!

Joe did a fantastic job; personable, friendly, informative, and engaging. I’m a local, and had my out-of-town friends in tow– we all enjoyed the experience; seeing a different side of Charleston and learning about the history. Would definitely recommend!

As if I hadn't already fell in love with Charleston enough, this made it when better! This bookstore is beautiful and so cozy, the staff was so sweet, and they have a great selection of books. I was able to come across a signed copy of Where the Crawdads Sing and was over the moon! For any book lover, this is a must see place when in Charleston! Happy Reading 📚

I am reviewing the bookstore only as I did not take any tours on my trip to Charleston. I really liked this book store. It had a great variety of books and the atmosphere was very comfortable. I enjoyed the way they had the books displayed and little unexpected pieces of art.

I went on the Ghosts of Charleston Night-Time Walking Tour with Unitarian Church Graveyard which started at this bookstore. The bookstore itself is very cute and well stocked. And the tour was fantastic, highly recommend it, especially the tour guide Glenna!

The book store is absolutely a gem. We stumbled in one evening after dinner and I picked up a few books— including a signed book by one of my favorite authors, Grady Hendrix! Apparently he stops in once in awhile. One book I picked up was the owner’s book, “The Ghosts of Charleston”. That led me to talk to a few of the people in the shop who were headed out on a tour related to the book. Here I am a few evenings later and I just came back from one of the tours. Simon, our guide, was fantastic! So knowledgeable and a wonderful story teller. Absolutely worth a stop in and definitely go on one of Buxton’s tours!

My daughter is a book addict. She found this quaint quiet and cute bookstore on our visit. She went in and started looking. The people were so nice they even looked up books that she had not been able to find in her other book travels. On the day we visited they were having a book signing later that afternoon but we were on a journey so we couldn't stay for it. She purchased her book and we moved on.

Can't express enough how awesome of a ghost tour we had with Big Joe. Not only was he extremely well versed in Charleston history but his story telling skills and passion made the tour even better. Joe also did a fantastic job of connecting with everyone in the group in between stories. Highly recommend!

Big Joe was an amazing tour guide - leaping, jumping and fully throwing himself on the floor all for the purpose of storytelling! Highly recommend the tour and exploring the bookstore in the meantime as it has great selections.

My husband and I took the Ghost Tour last night with Coleman. We were very impressed. As poets and writers ourselves, we enjoyed the quoted poetry Coleman shared along with the Ghosts and history of the area. We are huge Poe fans, so the Anabel Lee grave at the end was our favorite ending! We highly recommend the tour.

Very quaint and cozy bookstore nestled on the bustling King St. For those who like a little mystery in what they pick to read. I suggest the blind dates they offer. Brief summary on the book without saying to much.

Such a cute spot with a wide selection of books. I loved the way the entire bookstore was set up. It felt so peaceful. I could’ve stayed all day looking at their selection.
