Keowee Rock

I highly recommend that dnr put a couple of cans for trash there to keep up the beauty. Its such a popular spot and nowhere to place trash. If they would just pick up trash on there rounds and drop it off less than a mile away it would make this place all it deserves to be. The best place to put your boat in. With 3 ramps you move quickly. And they have ample parking as long as the cars aren't taking up boat parking. Water there is so clean and deep. We switched from Crow Creek to here.

We've been enjoying this jump off rock since our kids were young. That's been every summer for thirty years. Now we get to see the excitement in our grandkids when the boat gets near the rock.

Natural spot to jump into the lake. The rock is perfect shape for jumping off of. It curves toward island as it goes down so no worries of hitting it on the way down. The rock is on an island. Many people boated to the island. We kayaked over. Google maps says third of a mile so quick paddle. Closes starting point I see is fall creek landing boat ramps. We went on a Sunday morning and the boat ramps were packed and the rock usually had a short line to jump. Everyone politely waited their turn and if someone was scared they would let others jump while they built up to it. The island is littered with cans and bottles other than that awesome place.

****DO NOT DIVE OFF THIS ROCK**** Awesome!!!! I love to flip off (LAND FRET FIRST). Be careful though, you may touch bottom (as I do every time, but I am 6ft and 250 pounds). Divers said there is broken glass down there sometimes, and they clean when they can. Wear a life vest when jumping and jump further out to be safe. DO NOT LITTER HERE OR BREAK GLASS AGAINST ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The very fun place if you are in shape and able to swim vigorously across to the island. I've broken records in South Carolina for swimming and I still have trouble getting across to the island especially if you're trying to carry a backpack, cooler. Yes there's a lot of trash on the island but really I blame DNR for that they randomly come up there and write someone a ticket whether they've littered or not then don't even use that money to clean up the island. Personally I don't Litter but I see why people do after being exhausted all day swimming it's kind of hard to carry trash bags of trash back with you as your swimming. It needs to be inaccessible place to discard your trash. Very fun or very dangerous.

Loved it! The Lake Keowee water seems to always be just right. Makes taking the leap off Keowee Rock so easy and enjoyable. Even 4 year olds were jumping! Water is super deep so you won't have to worry about hitting the bottom. One of our vacationers lost his GoPro camera strapped to his chest in the Lake. Luckily there were scuba divers in the area. They were so nice and even gave the camera a wave before bringing it to the surface.

This is the Jumping Rock. Please do NOT try to swim out to it. Many people drown every year attempting that swim.

Keowee is the best lake in the upstate to us!!!! We love it!!!!
