We came up, knowing they had severe weather right before & well and pipes had froze. They informed us before we came, but it is camping (in a cabin but we are still camping) and they provided us with 5 gallon buckets of clean water for the first night while they fixed things. They couldn't fix our cabin bc it had a lot of busted pipes, so they upgraded us to a nicer, 2 bedroom cabin at no upgrade, where the water was working. You have heat/ac, tv (no wifi but service is okay), full kitchen and more! We wanted to camp but I didn't want to sleep in a tent this year and we wanted to bring our dogs. An awesome last vacation for our 16 yr old dog. Very happy with this place and I can see us coming back in the spring or fall. The host's here work HARD at keeping everything nice and working, and they will bring you anything you may need (to an extent).

Our stay was from 12/17 - 12/19, so a short visit. The owner was extremely accommodating since we booked the cabin at the very last minute, yet it was a nonissue.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Socks, the campground's dog, and the owner. She was pleasant and friendly, so we chatted a bit while checking in. We're from up North where the people we're used to aren't so personable or cordial, so a welcomed change of pace from the start.
We stayed in Cabin 25. A pretty light teal-colored cabin nestled into the woods. It had a nice large front deck with a grill and a few matching colored patio chairs.
The cabin was quaint with rustic character, with beautiful forestry views from all windows. The kitchen was of a modest yet appropriate sizing to achieve whatever cooking needs you may have while up in a mountain cabin. The vaulted ceilings made the place feel like you were in a large cabin home with pretty wooden beams running across it. There was a lovely little sectional couch tucked into the corner by the windows so you could sit and enjoy the views while sipping your morning coffee. There is a small TV with an antenna, but it will be spotty. However, there was a DVD player in the cabin. So if TV is a must-have convenience for you while staying in a rural cabin, it may be wise to bring along a few movies rather than look at the region's natural beauty.
The bathroom was clean and well-stocked with towels and washcloths. The interior decorations of the ocean and palm tree scenes were a nice touch since we are admirers of the southern Florida region, so you could tell the owner has the same fondness too.
We were fortunate enough to receive a phone signal in the cabin, but I understand that only some can get reception so far up. The owner let us know this far in advance. I've read the other reviews on this place which are egregious and downright unrealistic; therefore, I find it prudent to spell everything out in a clear, concise manner.
I want to remind people reading that this is a rural cabin, so there aren't state-of-the-art expensive HVAC systems. Instead, we were provided two rollable space heaters and a fireplace heater in the main room, and with all three of them on, it heated the cabin quite well. However, if you are a person who tends to run cold, be sure to bring a nice pullover sweater. The cabin was warm, but you're out in the elements, so don't expect a balmy 78 degrees interior temperature.
I can't speak to everyone who rents a cabin, but when we think of a cabin, we tend to think of remote living. So if I wanted to be in a place where I had high-speed internet and crystal clear cable with 200+ channels, I wouldn't have trekked up a mountainside just to be disappointed. I also find it odd that many people complained about not having Wi-Fi or cell service. This is remote mountain country. I would never come to such a place and think it feasible or even logical that the owner immediately erect a cellphone tower to better convenience myself. Please have an adequate car to get you up here. It isn't finely paved roads; they're pretty bumpy, steep, and windy.
All I can say to the people with such negative reviews is if you expect pure perfection with surgical-like execution for your short-term transit stay, then book a room at the Four Seasons. Please don't come to a person's small business and trash them because they don't come from the same high-end fast-paced city life that you've grown accustomed to but yet decided to drive hours out of the way from and still expect that form of standard. The people in this area I found are good people who are easygoing and not so high-strung and have a meltdown over minor inconveniences. It may have more to do with the fact that these people who live out here have real problems that they can't simply summon a maintenance specialist through their phone to solve all of their problems.
We had a beautiful time here and found it hard to muster the will to leave. We definitely will be returning. Thank you so much for such a tranquil stay. We can't wait to come back.

Over all, I had a great stay. The bed was very nice and comfy. I would say, if you are going for peace and quiet or for hunting and fishing then, you are in the right place. These cabins are for those that are not looking for all the extras, just the basics and want to relax for a while. They are very pet friendly and it is very peaceful and quiet. I plan to go back this summer for a week and do some more trout fishing.

My dog and I spent four nights at a cabin. We had a great time. The cabin was cozy, clean, and decorated nicely. The area was also great. Mountain Rest was my favorite of all the surrounding towns. There were multiple hiking spots and waterfalls within a short drive. I definitely plan to come again !

My best friend and I recently stayed in a cabin for a "girlfriend getaway in the woods," and we could not have been more pleased! The owners are Fabulous, really accommodating, & the land itself is so serene and peaceful. We got to take a cool tour of the gardens with all the amazing birds and got to chat more with June the owner about all the cool projects going on and how they are constantly adding things and revamping- we loved that excitement and dedication behind it! It means a lot when you meet owners who really and truly care about their place & building the energy behind it. The outdoor bathhouse is cute and very accessible and the whole place is easy to get around with a million hidden gems of spots to go relax at. Animals on the property are so sweet, we loved all the doggies especially, it brought a homey vibe. Such great land with perfect spaces for events, retreats, reunions, or private getaways, I'd definitely recommend that. They also have some events there for women, drumming etc and health conscious and environmentally friendly- huge perk! These are some seriously driven folks with hearts of gold for community and incredible dreams for their land, we are really excited to go back! Waking up next to the creek was beyond perfect, thank you so much for the beautiful stay & blessings on your future endeavors!!!

Awesome folks. Its a campground cabins; to read the "needed cleaning", we've stayed here for at least 10 yrs never found an issue. In a few weeks we've booked 20+ beds. Possibly folks came after area flooded?? Not 5 diamond resort, but excellent laid back fun for couples groups and families. Much to do in area with a little forward planning. SHOCKED to read "people of color" comment. You can't be serious???? Ms June is an open caring welcoming lady. I can't imagine a race issue. We're bikers, talk about profiling....we get it everywhere. NEVER EVER experienced bias here. Good place try it, thank me later!

After reading some of the review i was a little nervous about staying, However I'm so glad we did. The cabin was #25 and is cute and clean. Everything was provided. The bed is a little to hard for my liking but still not to bad. I love how quiet it is. I love sitting out in the morning drinking my coffee and listening to the birds and rooster crow. Some of the waterfalls are very close by so after I long day of hiking its nice to come back and relax by the fire pit. If you are looking for a quiet get away and don't care about WiFi and alot of tv channels then this is the place. We will definitely be coming back here on other vacations.

Great location and the perfect way to spend a few days relaxing during Spring Break! We arrived a bit after check-in time but were able to arrange for getting settled in. The cabin was beautiful and even better than expected based on the pictures. The fireplace worked flawlessly and the sound system in place let us relax to some good music while cooking or sitting on the porch. Mountain Rest Cabins is very conveniently located near Oconee State Park, some very close by hiking for Waterfalls, and many smaller lakes to explore. The cost for the cabin was very reasonable and enticing compared to other options in the area. I'm pretty sure we'll be coming back!

Mountain Rest Cabins & campgrounds is such a fun, peaceful & healing place, I'd fall asleep with the sound of the creek below.Every cabin has its own barbecue & fire pit. I liked the diversity of their cabins facilities, you can choose to stay in a fully equipped one or a primitive one, I chose primitive.
The owner is very nice & accommodating. I stayed for 3 months Aug thru Oct. My Nikon captured the magical change of the season & had 8 members of my family come visit & experience the beautiful mountain paradise I was living in.

Looking forward to coming back.

Great place to camp and glamp! So quiet under the trees except for the sound of the trickling stream. One can actually be 'off the grid' here! The property is very big and naturally sectioned so one doesn't feel crowded. The owners and staff are extremely kind and share many toys on the grounds, ie horseshoes, frisbee golf, toddler toys. Indoors they have an historic piano. What a joy to hear the talents of my fellow guests and teens. The owners loan family videos from a huge selection to guests. The shop also has a large selection of frozen foods and treats to prepare at one's site.

I felt like I didn't have to leave the campground to enjoy myself, but breakfast at the corner store is a true local experience. The shop there sells almost everything a person could need. My beverage of choice was so cold, I still dream about it in this hot summer.

Oh, and I was there when Hurricane Irma's northernmost arm charged through the campground in the middle of the night. The resort owners came to my site, advised me where to secure my car, and blew up a cozy bed so I could be safe in the main building. This kindness I will never forget. I return there soon, I hope.

July 2021
We had cabin #2. This cabin was clean, smelled great, and fully stocked. Felt like you were in the woods by yourself. Be careful in the deck door. It self locks as you open and close it. We had to climb over the rail to go in through the front door. We used just the living room air and kept us cool, but there is one in each room. There is a smart TV so you can use your own codes to get into apps. Not sure about WiFi, I used my phone hotspot and had no problems listening to songs, playing games, or watching TV. They sell wood 5 prices for 5 dollars( not sure the size I got mine from the gas station on the corner for less). There was plenty of sticks and a row of logs so bring an ax.

Had a great time the people that complain must be Yankees or someone who is spoilt on Gatlinburg cabins or something!!it is peaceful the cabin is perfect to get away from everyday stress,we visited the tunnels and waterfalls then came back to family time board games, fire ya know the simple things in life without all the technology...also people was saying there is no cell service but we had plenty of service here to make calls and Google local waterfalls!!and the guy complaining about there not being lakes and rivers here there is lakes and rivers and waterfalls all around this place if you expected those right outside your cabin door you clearly have issues and must be to sorry to explore!
