Mel's Place

Checked out this dive outside of Boyd, TX and we were very surprised. Nothing fancy and we weren't sure what to expect so we kept it simple with a cheeseburger, mushroom Swiss burger, fries and fried pickles.

We were blown away by the burgers. Cooked to medium well, they were still juicy and hot while the buns were fresh and soft. Fries were about par while the fried pickles were exceptional.

For me, this was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. We will be back again.

Every single time I have gone to Mel's, I have left happy and totally full. The food is outstanding for what you would expect from a little country cafe, and all of the cooks and waitresses are so friendly and accommodating. Given that my dad and I live so close by, we are sure to stop by here a couple of times a week and I see no end to that in sight.

This place don’t look much on the outside. But don’t let that fool you. We almost didn’t stop to try this place. But we did bcz we were starving. lol This place turned out to be awesome. Great friendly service. Our waitress Shawn was just so sweet n took real good care of us. We had the burgers n fries platter n had the big onion rings for app they were delicious! Love the hand cut fries n the burgers were good too. We will definitely come back here when we’re in town.

Got the sausage breakfast burrito and it was AMAZING! My husband got the chicken fried steak, hashbrowns and eggs and said it was also amazing! The hashbrowns were perfect! We WILL be back! The prices are good for the amount of food you get.

Food was great and the staff were friendly and a pleasure to talk with. Had sodas, a blt, and later, a Philly cheese steak sandwich. They had made from scratch fries as well. What a great lunch!

Shawn is a fabulous food server! The food is amazing and plenty of it!! I hate to tell everyone how good it is because it my little secret. Yummy!!!!

LOVE THE FOOD❣ WILL BE BACK! Seat your self. GREAT SERVINGS. Fries lacked flavor. Onion rings WERE AWESOME❣❣ I had the catfish basket and Hubby got a bacon cheese burger. Hush puppies were GREAT❣(and I DON'T normally eat those) The tarter sauce is WONDERFUL❣ WARNING!! Hush puppies ARE a bit spicy, but NOT TOO spicy.

Amazing lunch! Price was right and a thoroughly enjoyable meal! Frills not needed. The food, drink and atmosphere PLUS cleanliness hit a major home run.

Great down home cooking. We usually order the breakfast items, like the breakfast burritos or omelets. We're always filled up when we leave!

My husband & I eat here often! The food is always delicious & we are always greeted with kindness! Best country kitchen cooking around!

Local cafe with great friendly service. A lot of food for the price. Very clean, even the bathrooms!!

Country diner comfort food... I eat here a couple of times a week. Only wish they were open longer more often!

Hubs & I went there this morning for breakfast, I got the Chicken fried steak & eggs w/ hash browns and biscuits and gravy. It was a big CFS they put it on its own plate. It was AMAZING! So tender.. Hubby had the open faced biscuits with eggs, sausage cheese, hash browns & gravy. He loved it. We will definitely be back!

A visit to Mel's Place is now part of our trip to Camp Summit in Paradise. We love it there - the excellent food, the great service, the homey atmosphere - and my daughter will talk about our visit for the rest of the year!
I need to try more of their stuff, but I cannot stay away from their chicken fried steak. By the time I eat that, I'm too full to try anything else.
Looking forward to another visit soon!

Looks like a tin shed from the road but from the amount of cars in the parking lot you can tell it's popular.

It's cute, it's rustic, and everyone is friendly from staff to clients. Trust me when I say that when it comes to country breakfast the place doesn't need to look fancy, they can spend their efforts on the food. It is still very clean and well kept and you get plenty of good food.

Their biscuits are BIG and real homemade, they have a great gravy with just the right amount of pepper. I wish I had taken photos. Breakfast burrito was excellent and the salsa was really good. Other in my party had the scrambles and they all loved their meals.

Highly recommend if you want a filling breakfast for a decent price.
