The food quality is absolutely delicious! They give you plenty of it as well, especially for the price. I highly recommend giving this place a try! I got too excited with the boudin balls and started eating them before I took the picture

This was my first experience eating here, and I would have to start off by saying the customer service was amazing. Our waiter Liyah was enviting, with a big smile and she has great food recommendations. The food was really good. My favorite was the boudin balls. I recommend you try this place out.

For many years I have been a faithful customer of 290 Cafe. During one of my trips there, my cajun friend talked me into trying Maxine's Gumbo House, which shares the parking lot with 290 Cafe. I am very glad that I did, Maxine's is great! So great, that I'll never be back to 290 Cafe! The Stuffed Redfish is amazing, and very reasonably priced! It is basically Redfish Pontchartrain by another name. This redfish is better than the redfish on the coast! My son loves the fried catfish. Give Maxine's a try on your next family outing, you'll be very glad that you did!

We’ve been driving by since we moved to the area about a year ago. I wish we would have stopped in sooner. Everything we had was delicious. We had the poutin as an appetizer and loved it. I got the chicken and sausage gumbo and my partner got the seafood gumbo and the boudin balls (which are amazing!!). All great. We will definitely be back. A lot! Our waitress was Jennifer and she was delightful. Definitely stop in here if you’re craving some Cajun!

I had the redfish with dirty rice and my husband had catfish Pontchartrain with blacken catfish and also dirty rice. They were both delicious. Service was excellent but of course they were not busy when we went. The atmosphere rating is referring to the chairs that were very uncomfortable. But I will definitely come back when I'm going home,
coming from Austin direction again. Oh, the dirty rice was an added charge but only $1.99, not too bad, just need to expect it.

The stuffed redfish and the Nola pasta was delicious. The bread pudding was a little too sweet for me. Overall, the service and experience was great. We’ll be going back. 😊

I’ve lived in Manor for 9 years and I believe this was a Mexican restaurant when I first moved here but it closed and Maxine’s opened shortly after. I decided to try it out when my family was in town for Xmas. The shrimp salad, boudin balls, and gator was all delicious! Can’t wait to try some new stuff next time. And the service was beyond amazing.

We had an amazing fiest visit here. Our server Mandy greeted us with the biggest smile and made us feel very welcome as soon as we opened the door. We ordered the Cajun egg rolls as an appetizer which had a little kick to them, were cheesy and were stuffed perfectly. We also ordered the fried frog legs! It was my first time having them and I have to say they were so good! They give you the option to have them grilled, but Mandy suggested the fried. Did not disappoint! Entrees were Redfish stuffed with shrimp and crab stuffing topped with their signature cream. Also the Bayou pasta that had crayfish, gulf shrimp & andouille sausage simmered in a light spicy cream sauce with tomatoes, tossed with linguine pasta and topped with parmesan sauce.
Everything was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back! The food and zydeco music in the background was good for my soul! Bread pudding is tucked safely in the to-go so we can enjoy at home. With all this food and 2 drinks, it was less $ than I expected! Definitely will be back!

I can't say and would never say a bad thing about Maxine's Gumbo House. The appetizers are out of this world and makes me want to live off of the Cajun eggrolls and the food portions you get are very generous. We got 2 meals out of each. All I can say is if you haven't gone or been here yet, then what are you waiting for because you don't know what your missing. Very reasonable on the price too. Please just go check it out for yourself. You won't leave hungry but will need a wheelbarrow to get to your car. Ha ha

In Austin meeting with family which led me to Manor. Google restaurants in the area and decided to drop in The Gumbo House. Directions coming from the south headed north on 290 were a little tricky listening tonthe GPS. But luckily the building is very visible. Upon entering greeted with a smile and hello. Seated quickly and our waitress was very nice & friendly. Ordered and the food was brought out promptly. Started with some Gumbo, it is The Gumbo House, piping hot very favorable and tasty. Meal - Shrimp & fries ... once again piping hot and fresh. Battered and once again tasty. My wife had the shrimp po-boy the same she loved it has well as the Gumbo. Dessert bread pudding & double chocolate cake 🎂. We truly enjoyed the whole dining experience.

We ate here yesterday for a business lunch and could not have been more satisfied with the food. The NOLA sampler plate was delicious and the three of us had a hard time determining what was the best part of the meal! I definitely think the gumbo was the best of the three. There are so many choices for quality Cajun food I can’t wait to try the next dish on the menu. The only suggestion I could think of is if there was a small bread type appetizer to have at the table while you wait for the food. Either way, well worth the wait!

Cute space and all, but the food is the real star here.

I started with a cup of gumbo that was rich, hearty, and absolutely delicious.

It was a rough choice because everything sounded great, but I ultimately went with the Muffaletta for my main dish.

First off, the sandwich is huge. Almost obscenely so (almost).
Secondly, it comes with house made fries (perfectly fried and seasoned) which are fantastic.
And finally, the taste. All the meats, condiments, and sauces on lightly toasted, fluffy bread, are a flavor explosion in each bite.

I'll definitely be back and highly recommend you check it out as well!

Came in and was immediately greeted and seated. So off the bat service is excellent. The menu had quite the offering including gator, frog legs, and poutine.

I had the shrimp creole and the sauce was spicy but in a good way, fresh crunchy bell peppers, onions, and good shrimp.

The chicken fried chicken was also nice and crunchy with the chicken being well cooked.

The potato salad was also very fresh, just made? And the fries, one of the better basket of fries I've eaten (would recommend)!

Will absolutely come back again and be a bit more adventurous. Thank you all for the friendly service and excellent food!!
