If you travel through the area and are looking for a very cool "local" experience, it doesn't get any better than this. The restaurant is part of a historic, once world renowned sock making factory that makes for some amazing atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the food was prompt and delicious. They encouraged us to look around and we saw some of the old machines that still had thread in them from the day they were turned off. All this and it was only lunch time. I can't wait to pass back through on a Friday or Saturday night and see a band or just socialize with the locals and sample their dinner menu.

Great find! A local hangout for friends and musicians. We were traveling from NJ to New Orleans, second night on the route. First night, bland dinner at Cracker Barrel. Tonight, a gem. Open mic night with three performers. Lots of talent and just plain fun. Food was good. The entertainment great. Loved it!

Brought my family to see Desoto Falls for vacation.
We planned to eat at Vintage 1889 before even getting into town!
Vintage 1889 looked cool and nice from Google reviews.
We had lunch there today, and took pictures. Shout to the manager, Miss Angie! She was awesome and recommended a few menu items that were very good!

I'm a Texan moving into the area so I am looking for great food and atmosphere. My wife grew up in Birmingham to answer the why here. We were invited to Vintage by our neighbors. We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday and quickly realized we wouldn't have a seat if our neighbors hadn't reserved a table. A local band called 'The Locals' were playing and the place was filling up quickly. Nearly every person walked in and hugged a few people if not all. We eventually ordered food. The 'Jesse' caught my attention. The description sounded like a hamburger made with donuts. I hesitated but my curiosity got the best of me. I ordered the Jesse and my wife ordered the French Dip. Both meals hit the spot and were delicious. The Jesse was surprisingly good. They should label it as sliders as it was 3 small burgers. It is sweeter than I expected, but the beef pulls the flavor closer to a balance. The band got started and they are amazing. Like white girl crazy amazing. They played a wide range of songs. From Nirvana to Hank. As the night was wrapping up, many people were walking around still greeting one another. We were new so several stopped to introduce themselves. My favorite was John Connor, the luckiest man to "s#!t behind sneakers". I highly recommend Vintage 1889 but plan ahead. Don't stop in for a quick bite.

My husband and I always like to try local places we come across. This place looked so interesting. We were in the area and decided to check it out. I had no expectations. I got the rueben sandwich and my husband got the French dip and both were amazing. We will definitely be coming back because this is some of the best food we've had in this area.

1889 is a unique experience, if you sit back in the bar area, very wide selection of beers, and well prepared American food. We had the Reuben and the mushroom Swiss burger.
1889 is located in the Old Mill building, which is a fascinating, extensive antique shop. I was surprised they had live music with lunch on Veterans Day!

Fantastic lunch menu. I had the Cuban sandwich which was very good. Atmosphere was very good with spacious seating, eclectic decorations, and curio shop next door. Open lunch and dinner with large menu.

Came up to shop, ended up grabbing a quick lunch. Don't know what was better, the food or the service. Both were outstanding. Soups and burgers were on point. Oh yeah, don't forget the potato salad! Definitely coming back again.

Our office was on a retreat in the area and we wanted to go somewhere local to eat. A friend suggested this place and we had so much fun. The food was great, the service was friendly. We went on a Thursday night and they had live music. I wish I could remember his name but he was great! Not only could be sing good but he was SO engaging with the audience. He even came to our table at one point to visit. We had a great night.

The fish in the picture is the Ribeye Salad (I think that's the name)

I love this place! As a local, this is a super fun weekend hang and great burgers and other food as well. If a band is playing, the place will be packed and hopping. Folks of all ages enjoy the vibe of Vintage!

Their potato salad is a whole experience if you enjoy the versions made with a ranch flavor profile. So good. I also had a Brittany club that was really tasty!

Great venue to see live acoustic entertainment and the staff was welcoming and friendly. I thought the drink prices were a little steep and artichoke dip was good. The vibe of the venue was great and crowd was welcoming. It is hard to find a neater venue in a historic setting in the area.

Eat Here! If you are visiting Fort Payne, don’t waste your time eating anywhere else. This gem is inside the Big Mill Antique Mall. It has a cool vibe, great food, and great service. They have a full bar with a good selection of craft beer and on some nights they have live music. This is my go to spot when I am in Fort Payne.

If your in Alabama and need a cool place to eat and shop around in... this is the place for you. Built inside an old mill and transformed into an amazing restaurant that serves really good sandwiches and some of the best tomato soup that goes perfect with their adult version of a grilled cheese. I highly recommend it. Then after you eat be sure to walk around the old vintage flea market area. Dont forget the upstairs too. The staff are so nice and oh so helpful.

When we travel, we try to find things that we cannot get at home. Today we found a gem in this little cafe! The vibe in this place is like it is totally family owned where people have skin in the game. The food is made with love and attention to detail. My Cuban sandwich was just the right texture and sauce had just the right zing. The chips and artichoke dip were hot and delicious, with the parmesan cheese rounding the flavors out wonderfully. There were so many beers available it was difficult to choose! I went with a Cider Boys peach cider from the tap, and was not disappointed. If given the chance, I will reroute any trip I have nearby to stop here.

Very cool place. This restaurant was part of history. The whole building used to be a clothing factory. There are still some of the old machines in the building with other historical facts. The staff welcomed us with lots of hospitality. The food was great.

If you are ever in Ft. Payne this restaurant is a must visit. The food is sooo good, the beer selection phenomenal, then stroll through the antique mall right next door.

Really great Pimento Cheese BLT. One of the best I've had! The bread is grilled on the outside with parmassan cheese for that light crispy taste, the sauce is a Greek yogurt/mayo sauce which works really well, pimento cheese is killer.
