We stayed in the Barn loft and it was so charming! It was nice and clean, the towels were thick and soft and the bed was extremely comfortable!! The price was very reasonable compared to other places too. We had bfast on the porch of the main house one morning and Maribeth packages up a warm to-go breakfast the next morning to get a jump start on Acadia. both were delicious. Maribeth was so wonderful and accomodating, i cant say enough great things about her. we arrived late the first night and had not had dinner yet. we did not realize the distance to restaurants or that they close so early and only had a grocery store to get food. when we returned with our snacks, she had packaged up a hot dinner and had it with drinks waiting in our room for us!!❤

Guest comfort is a priority, clean, comfortable, well-appointed room. Convenient proximity to The Wooden Boat School, right next door to the Mountain Ash house.

We had a wonderful time at the Maine Hideaway.

We wanted to do Acadia and coastal Maine without being in Bar Harbor or cashing out the kids college fund to stay in a B&B in Southwest Harbor. Brooklin is a gem and the drive between Brooklin and Acadia was an hour of joy every time, especially through Blue Hill.

The owners are thoughtful and responsive, including making us an alternative to-go breakfast when we had to leave early.

Note that The Maine Hideaway is a “guest house with breakfast” and not a traditional “bed and breakfast”. Don’t look here for a common room or tea time with strangers. This worked out great for us as we were up and out every day and asleep the moment we got back every night.

I hope we’ll be back!

We stayed in the Sloop room for 4 nights in early December. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spotless, and the area was quite peaceful. The sloop room is great for families with kids. We really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, eggs one day, pancakes the next - all prepared with care. Early December is a lovely time to visit. The air is crisp and cool, and there were markets and a winter faire in nearby Blue Hill over the weekend. My son enjoyed a trip to the library just blocks away. Maribeth and Jeff will take excellent care of you here!

I don’t think our stay could have gone any better. Truly. The magical setting of Brooklin combined with the beautiful rooms we stayed in and the exemplary hosting from Maribeth, all combined to make a memorable stay at the Maine Hideaway. We felt so comfortable and cared for.

This was the most beautiful place to stay. Jeff and Maribeth we're the greatest of the greatest host. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here if you are anywhere close. And to be honest it's worth the drive out of your way if you're wanting to stay in a place that makes you feel at home. Thank you Jeff and Maribeth for such a warming experience on our honeymoon and I hope Jack kills it out there on the soccer field:)

The house was really beautiful and accomadating. The beddings, towels and amenities are very high quality. Jeff is a great cook and breakfast was a full meal; fresh fruit, pastry, eggs and bacon. Maribeth is an incredible host and when we left it was like leaving friends. The location is in between Acacia NP and the small communities to the south which are a must see. We enjoyed the option to explore the area for 2 days.

The Maine Hideaway is a delightful inn run by Maribeth & Jeff located in a picturesque town of Brooklin, ME. The drive there gave us the beautiful Maine coastline, reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting.
The inn has 5 rooms and can accommodate 12 guests. The beds, linens, & furniture are all new, modern, and comfortable. And the place was well kept, tidy, and clean. We arrived in early December, they appear to operate year round. And the breakfast provided was amazing. They change the menu daily and were very accommodating to my wife who is allergic to nuts.
There's an internet connection. Which is helpful given that network strength was not the best with Verizon, but AT&T appears to have better coverage.
They mentioned that they're very busy in summer time with the nearby wooden boat school, but it was very quiet during our stay in early December.
All in all, we had a fantastic stay at this well run B&B. My children were very fond of this place and asked when we could return.

We stayed @ the Maine Hideaway for 4 nights, while attending my nephew's wedding in the area. My husband is an above knee amputee and we were able to stay in a first floor room (Cruiser). Although right off the dining room, the early guests departed without breakfast (8am) so we were able to get plenty of rest. Speaking of rest, the bed was super comfy!! My son and his wife stayed in the upstairs room (Sloop) and the bed was also very comforatable. My daughter in law is pregnant and was tired due to working the overnight and she was able to get an excellent night sleep.
Breakfast was phenomenal! Different each morning (the bacon was decadent). Maribeth and Jeff even offered breakfast to the groom's mother and father on the last morning (knowing how busy their weekend was, it was a great respite).
Maribeth makes you feel like you are a visiting family member - she is so warm and engaging. She accommodates whatever your need is - even going out and buying an air conditioner (it is not often that hot in Brooklin - but of course, the wedding weekend we hit highs). She provided a shower chair for my husband and although a bit tight, he was able to maneuver in the shower.
We spent alot of time sitting on the front porch - so relaxing and again, it felt like home.
I would definitely recommend staying here and checking out what the peninsula has to offer. Deer Isle/Stonington, Bar Harbor, Castine and Cape Rosier are all easy day trips.

Extremely friendly and welcoming hosts! The rooms are decorated so lovely, also very clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely 10/10! The house itself is beautiful and the garden is great to relax in! Will be back!

The Maine Hideaway is a true gem. Maribeth and Jeff welcomed my boyfriend and I with open arms from the moment we arrived until the day we left. The hospitality we experienced was unparalleled and our room, the Cruiser, was lovely and clean. Maribeth is so genuine and her laugh is infectious! I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Maine Hideaway, it truly is one of a kind.

What a GEM! If you like the back roads and beautiful coastline, this a wonderful place. It’s immaculately clean, the linens are wonderful and is a great value for the price. Our Verizon phones didn’t have service in this area so the hosts made dinner reservations for us at the Farrmhouse Inn (which they recommended) and even gave us a gift certificate too! We will definitely be back if our travels take us this way. Loved it here!

My wife and I stayed at the Maine Hideaway 6-22 - 6-24. With a young baby in tow, we opted for the Pilot House - an extremely large two story section towards the back of the B&B. It was a perfect choice - large enough for multiple people, far from guests to isolate any baby cries, and spacious enough for all of our stuff!

The Pilot House also contained all the amenities we could ask for - ice machine, coffee machine, fridge, utensils, plates, water cooler / hot water. The bed was wonderful, and the bathroom was large and perfect for our needs. The crib they provided was also ideal, with organic cotton sheets.

Our hosts, Maribeth and Jeff, couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. The breakfast they served was excellent - cheddar english muffins, tasty local jams, perfect eggs/bacon. Check in and check out was a breeze, and all email interactions were warm and responsive.

Nearby, there is the Brooklin General Store and plenty of boats and water. We absolutely loved the area (it was a nice break from the city) and would go back in a heart beat. And when we do, we'll be staying at the Maine Hideaway!

Can't say enough about how lovely our experience was. Thank you M & J for leaving us with an amazing impression of Maine.

Couldn't ask for a better B&B. From Maribeths warm welcome , to the super comfortable beds, to the amazingly delicious coffee and breakfast. Definitely a destination in itself.

You would think a Michelin star chef works here. The food is off the charts as is the warm over the top service. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to come back.
