This place is incredible. A couple weeks ago when taking my kid to soccer practice, something in my exhaust system came loose and was dragging. The next morning, a Friday, I called every place I could with no one having any availability or willingness to help. I called Tamminga expecting the same result. I spoke with Ricky who was so kind and genuine. Listened to my issue and set me an appt for that Monday which was the first available. However he knew how challenging it would be to not have a vehicle for the weekend so told me to come in and they would at least take the dragging part off so it would be drive-able until Monday. I did(at 15 mph on the side roads). Not only did they get me right in. They saw that my flex pipe connector was broken and could be replaced and tightened. They completed the repair within 30 mins. Charged me next to nothing. Never pressured me to replace anything(which I know I need to, the exhaust system is very old). And had me on my way with no need to come back. I met Mark, the owner and had the pleasure of his family coming by that day and watching their interactions. What amazing people. These are honest, skilled, kind professionals with hearts. I will never take my car anywhere else but here. And neither should you.

My son recently started driving and has a starter car that required some maintenance. We chose Tamminga's for its proximity to our home and were impressed with our experience. This was our initial visit, but we are confident that it won't be our last. The personnel at Tamminga's are extremely friendly and helpful, taking the time to not only fix the car but also educate my son about the repairs they were doing.

I'm happy to update this post and give this garage five stars again. After a negative post on here, the owner/Mark called me and offered me some refund on the misdiagnosis recently. Happy that this was resolved and just as I said before this is an honest garage.

I've been to this garage numerous times at current location and their previous location on Michigan NE. Recently had nearly $600 repair that wasn't a repair. Even returned the vehicle and still they could not find the problem after a few days. I had to jump start my vehicle and take it a few blocks down the street to the dealer to get it fixed. And the dealer fixed it the same day. Sometimes this happens. My gripe is that Tammingas merely suggested putting the old alternator back on instead of any refund. I don't think I can continue doing business with this place unfortunately. I believe they're honest but they should work harder at compensating for their misdiagnosis.

This was only my first experience with Tamminga. I had heard good things and had many positive referrals. The whole process was painless. I had some big repairs done, and they were completed quickly and at a very reasonable price. It's been over a week with frequent driving, and no issues. We will be back again. Mark seems competent, straight forward, fair, and trustworthy. Everything I want in a mechanic.

Mark and the staff are easy to work with, are friendly, trustworthy, and honest in their work! They have done about every kind of repair on our vehicles over the years. We've been taking our cars there for more than 10 years on both the Michigan and now Rupert locations!

Very prompt service. Had our repair done quickly, fixed a door latch and looked at check engine light and suggested we follow up on a potential issue with our catalytic converter we had installed with another shop. Fair prices from what I can tell.

The most reliable car shop in all of Grand Rapids. Very nice people working there and I recommend to give them a call when you're having problems with your vehicle. Weather it's a big problem or a small one these guys will give you your money's worth. Best auto garage in town.

Definitely recommend this place hands down. Good price, will not try to over charge. And will let you know everything that going on with your car . I came here in March and I don’t have a ride home he pick me up and drop me off. Best place in GR!!!

It's the best Garage around! We have been to them for all of our cars repairs and they do a wonderful job. They are honest and fair and try to get your vehicle back to by the time you would need it again. We love Tammingas!
