Governor's Inn & Restaurant

I didn't stay at the Inn but ate at the restaurant The Spalding Steak & Ale attached to the Governor's Inn. The food was excellent and the portions were a good size. The service was very slow. They had a function that was going on although the dining area was pretty small but quaint. Very lovely inside! I would highly recommend, but consider going at a time when there aren't any functions going on.

Stayed here for the NASCAR races in July. Great inn with beautiful rooms. Rochester is a beautiful place that we will definitely return to spend more time in.

This is definitely a hidden gem. This place is definitely well taken care of. It is amazing to be able to stay somewhere that is such a piece of history. The wrap around staircase is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant inside with a bar. The food was delicious and hot. Service was quick and attentive. Overall an amazing value.

A great place with wonder servers and staff, decent rates for rooms considering what you get and great food. Can’t say enough good things about this place. If you are lucky enough to get to enjoy the live music that comes to the governors inn often then you will understand what makes this place a great destination and I would even say a hidden gem considering the lack of people that I know that take advantage of this place and all the it offers.

Lovely old fashion Inn conveniently located near the Opera House. Clean large room with friendly staff. Prices are low for such a beautiful old fashion New England Inn.
The restaurant is top notch because the staff is kind, professional & the food was as delicious! The cost was very reasonable. You feel as if your staying with kind family ☺.

We have never stayed but this is one of our go tos for dinner. Food ranges from perfectly cooked steaks to sandwiches. And cocktails are great too. My favorite app is the lazy man muscles them and a side salad make a great meal.

Best date night restaurant. Mary is awesome, and the food is always 👌 perfect.

Drinks were great, service was excellent and I’m looking forward to going back. There is also an outside venue called The Garage at the Governor’s Inn.

We attended your New Years gala last night. My husband and I had a fabulous night! Your staff were so helpful, friendly and attentive. Your buffet was out of this world. So many choices and so flavorful. Party hats and noise makers were at our table. The drinks spot on and the band was the cherry on the cake. Dancing the night away. Thanks for a memorable night!

Stayed here 1 night on our way from PA to Acadia National Park. Charming B&B with off-street parking and a choice of 2 restaurants. We ate outside at The Garage. Burgers were delicious and there was live music. Bathroom in our room was tiny but clean and shower was hot and great pressure. Appreciated the small soap & shampoo. Often we can't use the fancy ones provided due to allergies, so Dove was perfect. We were comfortable as the night we stayed wasn't hot, but if staying here during the Summer, you may need a fan. Not sure the small window AC unit would be enough to keep you cool as we had it running all night and we never felt cold. We were up on the 3rd floor. There was a TV, and breakfast included fresh fruits, breads, bagels, muffins, cereals, juice & coffee. We would stay here again when coming to this area.

We had a baby shower in the courtyard at The Governor’s Inn this past weekend. When we first arrived I was immediately struck by the beautiful gardens and waterfall feature. Perfect place for photos. There was plenty of parking which is always a relief for events. Our event was in the courtyard which is covered by a white tent with its own bar area. This was excellent for shade in this heat and if it had rained. It was much better than I had anticipated from the photos on their website. Really beautiful with plenty of places for photos and a great space to decorate for an event. The food we chose for our event was great and they served the perfect amount for the amount of people we had so there was no worry about running out of anything. The staff from the manager to the server and bartender we had for the day were just so helpful and friendly. They were a pleasure and attended to us and our guests wonderfully. I really felt that they went above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and happy. I will definitely be planning future events here and highly recommend them.

Went for a company dinner. It was a buffet that included steak and chicken. Everything was great; however, the second round of steaks they served were a little gamey and not well cooked. But the experience was still good overall.

Cozy restaurant offers good American French onion soup. Excellent service. Reasonable prices.

We really enjoy when we attend a event at the Governor's inn/the garage.
Food is always hot fresh and delicious. The all the staff is so friendly and professional. The facility is well kept and pleasant decor. Love this local owned and operated business. Always look forward to going there..

Always great food, great service and great prices! Despite inflation I don't think the cost of their steak tips has increased over the last 10 months or so. That will definitely keep me coming back!

Beyond thrilled with our unexpected stay. Trying to avoid chain hotels and took a gamble with this. We are looking forward to our next trip! Thank you!!

My Son's Wedding was here and the room accommodating the event was perfect. There was an outside patio directly behind with a short walk to the parking lot.
All of the staff was friendly and courteous; very professional in making this event a wonderful evening!

Two words.. Seafood Gratine. This is a dish that I get every time we dine here. It is the BEST I’ve ever had. So if you’re in the area stop by to try it. I’ve never been disappointed. Bonus - the waitstaff is super friendly, the manager always checks in on our table. You can get the dish in the pub or the dining area so if you want a quick but impressive dinner dine in the pub. I will always come back for this dish. I meant to take a picture before I started eating but I made my self stop to snap a pic !!

Stayed here a few nights while our house was being worked on. Cozy place to visit, food was outstanding too!
