Hello I visited the emergency room at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall in Newburgh NY due to chest pains and tightness, coughing and shortness of breath. The staff here are very nice, caring, comforting and professional. Special thank you and great big hugs to R.Nurse Steven who was extremely patient with me, especially since I don’t like needles. He is understanding and compassionate. He heard me in distress when the student doctor was trying to insert an I.V. and came right in to my rescue and took lead. He talked to me and explained every process, test that was being administered, everything I love his personality! Such a gentlemen and he is well educated in his career as a Nurse Thank you to R.N’s Keisha, and Dennis for your politeness. Keisha catered to me like I was a baby and Dennis came and tucked me in. All of this is comforting when you are sick and really don’t want to be laid up in the hospital
I am glad I came here. Even though we all have our own responsibilities to maintain professionalism in our roles and jobs, it’s not always only what you do, but also how you do things, is what makes a difference to someone else.
Have a blessed day

I had surgery this morning at Saint Luke's. I was a little worried because of the reviews.
I had a wonderful experience there. The hospital was clean, the staff couldn't have been nicer, kind and patient with me. They introduced themselves and explained all the procedures.
The parking valet man was even great
Dr. LICATA was wonderful and I put my trust in her. She is a great choice.
Bravo to all!

I have relied on the St. Luke's ER in so many times of crisis for my own health and the health of my family and friends. Many of my family members have been admitted to the hospital and have always had a great experience. The staff are so caring it really makes you feel safe when you're at your worst.

The level of care and professionalism at the Emergency Room is outstanding. All of the nurses, Nurse Practitioners, X-Ray Techs, and Aides are absolutely terrific. Caring, calming and wonderful.

On February 29th I was in the ER with my elderly father. The care and attention that he received was outstanding! An extra shout out to his nurse “Jenn”, obviously very competent but also has a personality and demeanor that is perfect for her profession.

Last month, I was on vacation from Georgia and had to go to this hospital and it was the best decision to make. My daughter was in a great deal of pain and I was in another state and didn’t know where to go. Even though it is not a pediatric hospital, the doctors, nurses and other staff members took great care of my daughter. Doctor Cohen and my daughters nurse were fantastic! Doctor Cohen took great care of her and also followed up to see how she was doing after she was discharged. This hospital was super busy and still gave my daughter a 10/10 service. Thank you to you, Doctor Cohen and to your wonderful staff including housekeeping and the nurses for taking care of Giavanna.

Dr Lowy and Dennis(RN) were amazing, on a Friday night when the ER was packed I went in for severe vomitting and nausea, currently pregnant and couldn’t keep anything down, including water. They were so sweet and helpful and didn’t make me feel like a bother after I put off going for a couple of weeks thinking that wasn’t a reason to go to the ER, but I came out feeling hydrated, and much better, and was even able to eat a little dinner afterwards. Thank you, they have been amazing the last few times I took my son, but i felt silly going for myself and they were quick to see me and so nice. I appreciate it 💕

There are times you hit a bump in the road, choose to communicate & address the situation before bashing an organization on social media, and realize the outcome can be a positive one when given the chance. My mother was very unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer on 3-27-2020. On her birthday. Our main concern was her care. About 2 years ago, we had a very bad experience with St. Luke's in Newburgh. 5 day's worth of a domino effect of nonstop problems. We waited for the survey, wrote a letter with it, and it felt like almost immediately, we had a phone call, along with an in-person meeting scheduled to speak about this situation. We thought we would just be sitting down with the Director of Patient Relations to go over what happened since a concerning letter was written. Little did we know, it would be the Director of Patient Relations, the CNO/VP of Patient Care Services, the Assistant CNO, the Head Hospitalist Doctor, and a few others. That in itself showed our situation was concerning enough to have each person take time to not only listen to our situation/problem, but they showed concern, empathy, and care. We were very impressed with the way things were handled. This meeting did not fall on deaf ears. Over the next few months till recently, we have had exceptional patient care from outpatient, to the ER, to whatever floor we were on, etc. Clearly, something was addressed and done to make sure this situation we had did not happen again. Montefiore St. Luke's has had such a bad reputation, but if you take a step back and communicate, and address the situation before coming to social media (like we are all guilty of at some point) things can turn around for the good. When you post negative reviews, what are you actually accomplishing? How can a problem be resolved or addressed if no one is aware of it? Most of the community does not know that there is a Patient/Caregiver Council that is working diligently to make sure these hiccups and issues are addressed and resolved. To have a community that trusts this hospital. The amazing nurses, doctors and staff that are here for you. Consider the old saying "Communication is key." Coming to St Lukes, staying at St Luke, and being discharged from St Lukes is not suppose to be more stress for you. Let them know what they did amazingly, what could be done better, and praise nurses, doctors, and staff for a job well done. Thank you Montefiore St Luke's in Newburgh NY for your caring staff and patient care.

My husband was recently in the cath lab he went in for a test where they put a camera to heart to look. My husband has a bleeding problem and is on meds. I must say every nurse did their best to make sure he did not bleed excessively they monitored him. They were attentive. After he went for test it was discovered he had a blockage they put a stent brought him back to room They kept him another 4 hours to watch him The nurses were wonderful. The dr was sldo also very good

Brought my 5 year old to the ER last night and had a wonderful experience. Every staff member was extremely understanding, patient, and kind. We asked for security to walk us to the parking garage when we were discharged at 3 AM and they had no problem escorting us. A huge thank you to the ED team at MSLC Hospital.

I had a “one day operation” and it was a wonderful experience! No one wants to have surgery, but every single person was most kind and professional, from sign in, registration, to everyone in the prep and operating theatre/anesthesia. They were so caring and knowledgeable and thought of every last thing including warm blankets, socks and ice in the water! They listened to all of my questions and were never rushed. Everything went exactly according the schedule. My surgeon, Dr. Muntzer, was very skilled and compassionate, and talked me through everything during the prior office visits and pre-op.
Do NOT wait half a day at Vassar; the standard of care at St. Luke’s far exceeded my past Vassar experiences. St. Luke’s is a hidden gem for care and compassion, and it’s close to Beacon!

I went to St. Luke's four days ago with severe abdominal pain. The ER doctor decided to admit me. During my time in the ER and my two-day stay on the 5th floor, everyone was very kind to me. I had excellent care and the facility was very clean. My nurses, especially Brittany, were great. I honestly have no complaints at all. -- except, perhaps, for the fact that I couldn't shower, but I understand that's due to COVID protocols. All the reviews about them being too slow seem really unfair to me -- it's a hospital! They have other patients! I never felt like I was being ignored.

I can't thank the entire staff enough for saving my mom's life. From the lovely workers at the front desk to all the nurses and doctors. A wonderful team. The Respiratory team went above and beyond. The ICU nurses were extremely knowledgeable and caring. Every nurse took the time to answer all of my questions. The hospital was very clean and safe. The entire staff put my worries at ease. My mother even said the food was very good. Parking was easy in the garage. Their covid rules for visitors are strick and I appreciate that. Better safe than sorry. Thank you St. Luke's.

In the past, this hospital was not the ideal place. To speak on personal terms I’ve had a uncle die here due to “not being able to find his insurance” and they let him die in the waiting room. Had a buddy that his father died the same way but he was actually on the table…(non local hospital) but it’s incredible… some hospitals truly don’t care.

I feel as though, once MonteFiore stepped in they made an undoubtedly better adjustment to staff, treatment and levels of care. My nurse Stephen was the man! You can tell he loves his job, is good at what he does and CARES about his patients. He was truly stellar and I’d ask for him as a nurse personally if I EVER had to go back. Too bad he’s triage ED nurse 😫. I’d have to purposely hurt myself huh, lol.

Doctors Anna and Oroko were also very calming, very attentive and fast paced. It’s hard to get comfort and speed and they excelled in that. He was very reassuring verbally and their techniques made me feel very comfortable despite still needing extra help from medicine. They are superb practitioners and I was happy to have worked with them this evening. Entire visit is a 5/5 and that’s hard to get from other places or even hotels!!

MonteFiore cares…

&

St Luke’s Cornwall has changed.

My husband had a procedure which required an overnight stay. He received excellent care. The nurses were all kind, compassionate, efficient, professional, and it was obvious that they loved what they were doing. Everybody we came in contact with (security guard, housekeeping, etc) were all helpful and professional. We were very pleased with the quality of care at St. Luke's.

I came to the ER around 5:30pm on a Thursday for abdominal pain. Literally no one was in the waiting area. They brought me back to my own room as soon as they took my name. Nurses were very nice. Doctor ordered me an MRI & the tech had me in it within an hour of me being there. Idk why St. Luke’s has a lot of one star reviews but from my personal experience it was amazing for an ER visit. I was out in 2 1/2 hours after being admitted & with a referral to go to a gastroenterologist. Best experience for an ER visit in my opinion. The sole fact that they gave me my own room, & not one with a curtain a literal door, made me so comfortable. I say thank you to the staff at St. Lukes Montefiore.

As a first time parent, and someone easily described as discerning, this facility gets my highest marks. My partner was scheduled for a C-section for more than a week later than when she suddenly went into labor. Obviously our birthing plan instantly changed to a different doctor on the team. Everyone from the nurses, phlebotomist, the surgeon and his staff, and particularly to my partner, the anesthesiologist who fielded every question and concern with grace and calm, were incredibly proficient and direct in their treatment. From calming my partner before surgery, to calming me after, they were spectacular.

With a very low blood glucose level, our baby ended up in the NICU for the better part of 2 days. Again, the staff there was nothing short of brilliant. The nurses were amazingly kind and patient with my total lack of knowledge. Instructing firmly and with what can only be attributed to knowledge built in decades of experience. They were led by an amazing doctor, universally and obviously respected, with a fantastically difficult name to pronounce. Known and referenced with reverence by all with only his initials, Dr. KP.

The hospital does not have the flash and trim of some others. Not that it was dirty or unsanitary in any way at all. But, the decor was not built to wow. The staff and their skills were. And they did just that in truly superior fashion.

I could not highly enough recommend this facility for your birthing needs. The love of their work shows in every detail of their interactions and most importantly when doing their jobs. 5 stars. Thank you to you all. My daughter is beautiful and healthy, robbing my partner and I of every bit of our sleep and we're loving it, in great part thanks to you.

My husband spent many weeks at this hospital before his death. The care he received was fantastic. The entire staff, including the cleaners, the kitchen staff, the support staff and all of the nurses and doctors were personal, caring and thorough. We were so grateful that, even now after my husbands death a year later, it feels good to thank them all!!

After over 2 years of serious errors and omissions at Vassar, then a scheduled and prepared surgery to allow me to walk again being delayed by 2 months because “I am non emergent”
I wised up. Got over to st Luke’s, great surgeon put me back together 6 days later.
Had an 8 day stay and overall, aside from top private hospitals in Asia that would cost $5,000 a day here, my expirence at st Luke’s was the best I can remember in the USA.
I can’t say enough positive and thank you Dr. Esemunde and everybody!
