Gil's Garage Inc. - Halfmoon

These guys were wonderful. I recently went to them for the first time to have my brakes checked, spark plugs replaced, and to have my 60k mileage maintenance. They were explanatory, transparent, and so kind. They actually took the time to walk through what they did and what things looked like for both me and my husband. Easy drop-off and pick-up too. I also got in pretty quickly (within a week). Cant wait to see them again for my next maintenance check!

I have been to Gil’s Garage a few times now. Every single time they have exceeded my expectations. Each individual I’ve spoken or dealt with has been pleasant to speak to and knowledgeable about the issues. The service has been fantastic, performed in a timely manner, and budget friendly. All around I can’t say enough good things. It can be difficult to find a good mechanic, let alone a great one, but here they are!

I had my car serviced for the first time at Gils. I found my way there following a mechanic that has been working on my cars for a dozen years. Andy is an excellent mechanic and excellent human and my experience there was wonderful. Gils was nice and clean, and the staff were very professional and courteous. I’m glad to be able to continue to get superior service I am used to.

We’ve Been looking for an honest and local owned mechanic/garage for years. Finally tried Gil’s on the recommendation of a few friends and they were 100% correct. We’ll be getting all of our work done at Gil’s for now on and I’ll let everyone know you can count on them being honest in both pricing and quality of work!

Years ago my Dad would talk very highly of an auto garage - named Gil's. Unfortunately I had a little situation - and there was no doubt in my mind where I would be taking my car to be repaired - and I'm glad I did. Everyone there was very professional and pleasant to deal with. Now I understand why my Dad always raved about this place - I would highly recommend them. Thank you all for making my car safe again.

Stopped in at Gil’s garage after the dealership offer a crazy high estimate to fix a clunking noise in my steering wheel. So I left that high way robbery establishment and headed to Gil’s. The service man was great in explaining what the problem most likely was the culprit. He gave me an estimate that was way lower than the dealer. I know what a shocker! Anyways the day of the appointment they called and said indeed it was the problem they anticipated but the best part was that the estimate was much lower then quoted me. Now that was the icing on the cKe cake that these guys are honest and will take care of you. Gil’s automotive is my new place to take my car for repairs! Thanks guys for a job well done at a fair price!

Our issue was looked at by the dealer. We were given a quote. We then took the car to Gil’s. They suggested doing only part of what the dealer recommended. For the age of our car and the miles on it the other work was not necessary. I appreciate their honesty!

Gils did a great job diagnosing a repair I needed. I took our Chevy to Mohawk, and they were clueless. Then another local repair shop, and Gils was the third location we tried. They diagnosed and fixed the issue quickly. Now our car runs great. I think it was a little pricey, but I'd rather have a resolution and trust our mechanic. Great job to the Gils team.

I have been going to this garage for a number of car needs. The staff is always friendly, the prices are fair and you don't need to fear paying for work that is not needed. I would highly recommend bring your car here for all your needs as I will continue to use Girls for all my automotive needs. Thanks guys!

I was treated well- they didn't try to 'dumb' things down just because I'm a woman. The pricing for what they did to my car was very fair. I feel like I finally found my mechanics which is a relief.

Got in my car about 4:00 in the afternoon the other day and my tire pressure lights came on and were telling me that one of my tires was down to 15 psi. After a closer inspection there was a large screw in the middle of the tire. I called 3 different businesses in Clifton Park and not one of them could give me an appointment within a week's time. Who can go without their car for a week with a flat tire? I called Gil's and they told me they would fit it in the next day. I dropped it off that night and by 4:00 the next afternoon they had fixed the tire, did an oil change, and inspected it. When I picked it up there was plastic on the floor and it smelled great! Great customer service; I will definatley return the next time my car needs maintanance.

Repairs were done competently and almost on time. Very reasonable pricing and quick turnaround to get the vehicle in the shop.

Needed a battery changed. Cost nearly $400 but they got it done the same day and I've never had issues with them.

These are professionally trained mechanics who care for your car like their own. And, they share their knowledge and thoughts in welcomed conversation. I’m fortunate at 71 and living on my own to have them supporting my auto needs.

They helped me by getting my car in much faster than they anticipated. For that I am very thankful! They explained what was wrong and got it fixed. That was several days ago and it is running beautifully.

My car sent message that it was time for service . I made an appointment with Gil’s. They called me and said my car didn’t have enough mileage to warrant an oil change but would do it if I wanted. Of course I didn’t have it changed and picked up my car. There was no charge and they even topped off the fluids! Exceptional Service!

This week has been the second time Gil’s Garage has saved me. My first major car issue I had was coolant evaporating out of my tailpipe. Nowhere I brought my car to could tell me what was wrong, including the dealerships (I brought it to two different ones) and I was spending $150 per shop to get a diagnostic only to have them tell me they need to physically look into my car for another diagnostic for an additional $2,000. I brought my car to Gil’s, and they immediately were able to diagnose the problem and I haven’t had any issues since.
My second and most recent time, my car had a scraping noise every time the wheels rotated. An inspection from Monroe’s said it was my wheel bearing, and that I also needed brakes for a grand total of $1,500 for what was originally planned as just an oil change and tire rotation. Knowing better, I brought my vehicle to Gil’s Garage and they told me my wheel bearing is fine! The issue was with my calipers. So, they went in to fix it, and were able to clean the calipers up instead of having to order brand new ones, saving me several hundred dollars.
I cannot recommend this place enough. If you want to be jerked around and scammed out of your money fixing unnecessary things, then be my guest and go somewhere else, but if you want it fixed right (and to actually have the issues explained to you in depth), go to Gil’s Garage.

It seems that with each passing year businesses are less and less personal with the quality of service decreasing right with it. At Gil’s I feel confident that my car will be properly cared for. My thoughts were reinforced during my most recent visit - in which it was evident that this is not a business but a family that cares and takes pride in doing things right.
