Howlett's Restaurant & Tavern

Ordered a classic cheeseburger and it was delicious! Added French fries and had a slice of Bananas Foster Cake, which was very sweet but good. Our server Kelly was wonderful!

I had a 12iz steak with rice and baked potato. Steak with good BUT could have used some flavor , devil eggs were different and delicious

First time eating at Howlett’s. We made a reservation for 5:15 and were promptly greeted and sat immediately. Nicole was our server and she was amazing. She was attentive, friendly and was there at all the right times bringing refills etc, without us having to ask! Loved her! We ordered the calamari and fried pickle spears as appetizers. Both were delicious. I love the jalapeño sauce that came with the spears and the creamy dill sauce was a nice addition for the calamari, along with the marinara sauce. Don’t even get me started on the bread! Some of the best I have ever eaten. So fluffy and light and the butter was whipped to perfection. I did not get any pictures because I couldn’t stop eating. I had the sirloin Oscar with a loaded baked potato and Caesar salad. This meal was by far one of the best I have ever had. The steak was cooked to perfection, rare, and the lump crab with the asparagus and hollandaise sauce put it over the top.Caesar salad was one of the best if not the best I have ever had! I will definitely be a repeat customer and bring my extended family! Thanks again for a wonderful evening! Also, forgot to mention, they had larger parties but our appetizers came out very promptly and the food came out after we were given time to enjoy our appetizers. Timing was perfect!

Beautiful restaurant. Staff were phenomenal. The food was very good as well. The ambiance was wonderful. We celebrated our 1 year anniversary for becoming permanent Virginia citizens. It was a great evening.

We took a group of 19 to HOWLETT’S for lunch just as they opened for the day. There was one waitress for Us and another group of 8 or so . She was amazing! We had our food in about 45 minutes which allowed us time to enjoy conversation. Food was delicious. They must have upped the kitchen staff because there were at least three groups and regular diners that day.

The prime rib was prepared to perfection, and the staff was ready to meet my every need. This was one of the most delicious meals I have had in quite some time.

I'm so happy to have this Jewel. New to area and Howlett will be go to Dining venue. My friends and I had a wonderful meal before the Show at the Perkins Performing Arts Center. Thank you, Howlett will be my new dining venue.

The staff at Howlett’s are the best around! The food is delicious and the prices are good! Can’t say enough positive things about this restaurant. My favorite spot to have lunch or dinner with friends and family!

I found Howletts for the first time last year and loved it so much I ate there 3 more times in 4 days. I am back this year and just had dinner tonight. Nothing has changed. The food was awesome as was the service. I will be bringing 4 groups of clients there over the next week or so so that others can enjoy the great food.

Wonderful meal; great food and service. Beautiful restaurant. Visited after seeing a show at the Perkinson Center. It is within walking distance of that venue and definitely a nice way to spend an evening.

The bartender was amazing and the atmosphere! Clean and beautiful inside and out! It’s close to home and a hidden spot. Bangin shrimp app and Pork chop with Brussels sprouts and a loaded baked potato! Best meal I’ve had in chester!

2nd time visiting. Once for dinner, once for Sunday brunch. Both times food was great! We ate as a large group and the servings from the shrimp and grits to the ribs on down to the crab legs was delish. I personally fell in love with the sweet potato casserole and French onion soup. Staff and service was attentive and consistent each time. My only critique is that some of the patrons could use "diversity training." There are some looks that linger that take away from the ambience and can make one feel uncomfortable. I didn't let it bother my appetite, because we all spend green money. Unless, they accept cryptocurrency... :) This place is a hidden gem. Would and will return!

Delicious food. Best staff from hostess to waitress, to food servers, to woman who politely cleared our table!

Howlett is a great place for good food and service. I have been going for years and it has been consistently good. I tend to order the prime rib while my wife will vary, often to their seafood special.

I think the price vs quality Is very high. They have a house ale that for the price is pretty good.

Went here for my 10 year anniversary and then again for Valentine's (but the day after Valentine's). We just moved here and checked it out because it's close to home. By far one of the best restaurants and great prices! This is now our go to dinner place for our date nights.

This restaurant was absolutely the best place I've ever eaten. The food was so fresh and delicious. The staff was very attentive and pleasant with kindness. I will be going there from now on for my dining pleasures! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

We had our Family Christmas Dinner here for the first time ever and I will have to say we were NOT disappointed.
Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere, Prices reflect that of a upscale dining experience.
And the deserts are just decadent.

Our food was delicious, and the degree of courtesy and professionalism displayed by the entire wait staff was noteworthy! Serving the public in the time of a pandemic is not always an easy or safe task, but we felt warmly welcomed AND safe while we enjoyed a delicious meal...

Party of 8 was sat within a timely manner. We had no reservations and did not know this place existed. Food was awesome.Definitely a hidden gem. Will be going back

This evening we ate at Howletts to celebrate my birthday, and everything was just wonderful! Our meals (steak, sautèd mushrooms, shrimp, baked potatoes, vegetables, & a small loaf of bread) was VERY GOOD!! The portion were perfect!! Rebecca was our server. She was attentive, knowledgeable & efficient (I requested a slight adjustment to order), polite, & kind--making sure we were satisfied with our meal as well as wishing me a Happy birthday! What a fabulous evening!! (Oh, and we had to take dessert home because we were rather full.)
