Ashcake Family Physicians

I don't know how this practice does not have 5 stars across the board. I am a stickler for excellent customer/patient service (because when I worked behind the desk- I gave 110% ALWAYS). I drive from the far West End/Short Pump all the way to Ashcake Family Physicians because they are amazing. They genuinely care for their patient's. This is the first practice that calls me back same day, is eager to help ALWAYS and goes above and beyond every single time I am seen or call in for anything. If you need to speak with a nurse, no problem. I cannot say enough good things about this Practice and like I said, I expect the absolute best when it comes to patient care (as we should all expect/receive). I see Christen Proffitt, FNP and she never ever rushes me and always makes me feel like I am her only patient!! Their front desk is the friendliest front desk at any healthcare facility and always so helpful. I am baffled by the bad reviews- I have been going here regularly for over 3 years now and recommend them every chance I get. Good healthcare is hard to find and I feel blessed that I found Ashcake! (This is an honest review and I have absolutely ZERO personal ties to this practice or anyone within the practice).

I’m not sure why people are complaining (other than that’s what people do and do it like it’s theor job). Front office is solid and Dr. Walker is awesome. I followed her from her previous practice. They are quick to call me back with lab results and I when I call I get a call back by the end of the day. I can get an appointment within a day or so of calling. Dr. Walker takes her time while speaking with you and explains her treatment decisions and welcomes your input if you have a different opinion or want to follow a different treatment path.

I've been a patient here since 2008 and have never had anything but exceptional service and care. I've worked with Dr. Pam and two NP's who are all amazing. I currently work with Christen and she takes time during appointments, listens to my concerns and is open to things I suggest (different procedures, etc.). I've never had any bad experiences with the receptionists at all. Highly recommend them.

I’ve been a patient here since I was in 6th grade (~11 years old) - so, for 18 years now - and I just love them. Dr. Pam is obviously the BEST and Kristin is great too!! I moved away from Mechanicsville after college but stayed with this practice. Now I drive all the way from Moseley for my appts once a year but I wouldn’t change a thing :)

Best Doctors and office staff EVER.

May 19, 2023, We moved almost an hour away, and my family drives 2 hours for appointments because Dr. Pam and Tim Wratchford are the best.

Dr. Walker is fantastic! She takes time to listen and talk through all my concerns. I love the fact that when I schedule an appointment for 9:00 AM, I am brought back, and the doctor sees me promptly at 9:00!

Awesome family drs. Dr Pam and Tim see our entire family. Unfortunately my ins chanfed and had to get a new dr. She's great, but no one is Dr Pam!

This practice is everything a family practice should be! I NEVER feel rushed and ALWAYS feel heard. In a time where other practices are about the $$$, the staff at Ashcake Family Physicians has always been about my family's care and well-being!

Not quite sure why the gentleman gave a one star review. They are overrun with patients because they are absolutely fantastic. I have been using Dr. Tim for years and he actually takes the time to get to know you and your health instead of seeing you as a number.

I followed Dr. Walker from her previous practice at Hanover Family Physicians. Her work is stellar: she actually listens to me, is cordial and attentive and forgives me my timing. My grief is with the office and how it is managed: the waiting room is spartan at best and religious at worst. I LOATHE calling in for appointments—the receptionists have NEVER PICKED UP on a call and prefer to call back at their leisure like, say, when I'm driving or out in public where I would have to talk about my private business in front of strangers. Even in the office, trying to sign in for my appointment is discombobulated in giving my payment and insurance; later, the same applies to signing out—more steps and poorly explained on a card in order to get the results from a test or what have you. And finally, when I got a bill, there was no personal records copy. Overall, the doctors are great but the experience is spoiled by the terrible management staff. Fix your receptionists or get new ones that actually do their job.

Physicians are great. Office staff not so much. This was an amazing office pre Covid. The policy changes and overall attitudes, atmosphere, rigid policies and no attempt to help is what really turned me off. I have been a patient for 5 years here. Today they have lost my business
