Chef's CV is really world class (3* Inn on Little Washington et al). Midlothian is lucky he opened up his own place in their midst.

Location is a bit quirky at the end of a strip mall, but plenty of great finds like this across the US.

Inside is modern yet cozy, with lots of interesting decorative touches by the chef's wife and co-owner.

Menu isn't enormous, but plenty of good options. I started with a wonderful Banana Bread cocktail - sounds a bit funky, but really hit the spot on a cold night (bartender distills his own banana syrup from over-ripe banana peels - oo-rah!). Went well with the Sweet Potato & Duck Confit soup, which had a hint of Thai spice in the mix (think a riff on Tom Kah Gai).

I was a bit boring in going with the filet for the entree, but it was delicious - perfectly cooked and poached in rosemary-garlic butter. The Hasselbach potatoes with fresh sour cream and bacon to accompany it were amazing.

Oh, did I mention the bread and, more importantly, the HONEY BUTTER? OMG - put that on your Last Meal menu selection.

The chef's culinary talents shined through, though he's toned things down to be more comforting and approachable for the mainstream palate.

Great service (and conversation) with Austin at the bar.

A hidden gem for sure!

Wow, wow, wow... I have been twice now and cannot wait to go back again. After reading the chefs bio and seeing a couple of reviews, I thought, why is he tucked away in this random shopping strip off Midlo Turnpike? He should be in the city charging twice as much as he is. Boy, am I glad he's not! Evey dish is well thought out, perfectly crafted, and beautifully presented. The service is top-notch. I can't believe we have such a gem on this side of town. You must try this place! Please keep them in the area!!!

Wow, the food here is amazing! Ther persimmon tostada had such complimentary flavors that I had never enjoyed before. I also had the carbonara spaghetti and it was so delicious and creamy. I feel like I might try a carbonara at another restaurant and be sorely disappointed that it won't taste the same as here at MCK. My only complaint is that the service can feel sluggish. The pacing of the courses were on the slower side as well as getting more refreshments. I would definitely come again or would definitely try any other restaurant handled by this chef and their team.

A hidden gem in a little strip mall, this definitely feels like a place to go to celebrate. My mother and I were delighted by every dish (and demolished the bread and honey butter of course) and enjoyed both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. The service was excellent and very pleasant as well.

This particular venture we shared the salmon egg roll (perfectly cooked with a lovely crunch on the outside and balanced well with the smooth acid of the avocado and citrus), the pork belly (the lone issue the whole evening - delicious and beautifully cooked but difficult to cut even with my steak knife), the papardelle with a smooth meaty Bolognese, and the absolutely splendid duck. The raspberry and coconut desserts were lovely as well, but I think the raspberry made it for best of the two.

Absolutely worth a return trip.

Stopped by with some friends to have brunch here the other day. Atmosphere was inviting and fresh. The staff was attentive and great to offer suggestions for the meal. For the brunch, all of the food was fresh and very flavorful. Keri's sampler board offered a wide variety of their brunch selections. My personal favorite within this palate was the chicken and waffles. Would definitely come here again to try out their dinner selection.

First time visiting this hidden gem in Midlothian! I went for Father’s Day and had reservations. They sat us immediately, which is was good. The menu was perfect for brunch. They offered a variety of drinks, which was nice. Typically there’s just mimosas on deck, but they had two or three other drinks. Naturally , you can order any drink you want. I ate the chicken and waffles! The bacon crumbles on top was a perfect combination. The pastries given to use at the start was a nice touch. Great hidden gem! I’ll be back!

Our first time here. Our friends have raved about it and now we understand why. The menu is seasonal, so it might not be the same each time you go. We all loved our entrees and shared an amazing dessert.

This is truly one of a kind restaurant. You will not find the same dishes anywhere else. Chef Dunlap is extremely talented, his creativity transpired on each plate and in every bite. Everything was prepared with carefully picked fresh ingredients and many fresh local produce. They also has a good selection of wine and cocktails. Wonderful service. MCK is my new favorite restaurant.
If you are looking for an inexpensive traditional meal, this is not the place. If you are looking for an unique dining experience, I highly recommend Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen.

I was feel bad constantly giving five star reviews but sometimes places just really deserve it and this place did. Had a low-key last minute dinner and I really enjoyed the cocktails and my carbonara was delightful I needed to add a little salt to mine but that’s obviously a personal preference thing, and I’m not really someone who ever add soft anything. I feel like I have been on a “espresso martini” journey throughout the Tri-Cities and this one was very good and unique take that I did not suspect

Nice dining experience. Corner unit of a busy strip mall. We ate on a nice little patio which had copious heaters and patio lights. Cocktails were inventive, beautiful and high quality. Service was very attentive. Appetizers were good but overshadowed by the excellent entrees. The entrees were a bit small and we ended up ordering a second app to compensate. Cons were few. I thought the menu was fairly limited and there were no specials. Cocktails were great but took a long time to come out. Location isn't the best but it does well with what it has. I'd say this is a great place to go for cocktails, pretty good date joint and you could bring the kids too as they have a kids menu. Nice joint, we will definitely be back.

Went here for our date night. We had a 5:00 reservation and were seated immediately.
I rated them a 4 for atmosphere because it was very dark where we were seated and I had a hard time seeing the menu. Next time we will request to be seated in a well lit area.
The wait staff was excellent. The cooled water bottles were a nice touch.
The food was delicious. They brought fresh baked bread and housemade honey butter. I had the seared duck and my husband had cod. The accompaniments on our plates were amazing. We each had a glass of pinot grigio that went well with our meals.
Our compliments to the chef and staff. We will be returning.

Midlothian Chef's Kitchen has quickly become one of my favorite places to go when friends and family are visiting. The food is divine and the cocktails delicious. The atmosphere and service is equally wonderful. From the filet mignon to the grapefruit cream chicken breast, you can't go wrong! The dumplings have been my least favorite dessert but even then they are better than other dumplings I've had. The peach and burrata salad is bright and light, the homemade butter for your bread melts in your mouth, the tuna tartare is surprising and has a great texture!

Have dined here before, always good. This time for a special occasion asked for the "Chef's Table," 5 course meal with each course described by the chef and a wine pairing for each course, explained by the bartender. The food was fabulous, and we were not overstuffed. The wine was excellent. The chef and the bartender were pleasant, informative, and gracious, and made the dinner even better. Definitely an evening to remember!

Hidden gem in Midlo! I’d say this dining experience was comparable to some Michelin restaurants I’ve been to in DC - great cocktails, creative dishes, and interesting flavors with a nice intimate atmosphere.
The menu we looked at online beforehand was slightly different than the one in the restaurant (I think it changes regularly), so just keep that in mind and be open to trying new dishes - you won’t be disappointed!

Overall great experience. One of the best places in the area.

Service- excellent, server was knowledgeable about the food, the restaurant and the bar. He was very friendly and helpful throughout the night. He made it a good time.

Food- absolutely fantastic. Loved the sage pappardelle. We ordered it for the table. For appetizer I would recommend both the roasted chestnut soup and the burrata. The bread was also very tasty. For dinner I thought the beef tenderloin with a mushroom sauce and a great side of cauliflower. Dessert was more of the savory side but very good as well.

Drinks - the bartender John Mayer was amazing. The jalapeño Paloma was perfect. He’s a magician.

Setting / vibe - great for a date or hanging with a few friends. I’d say dress up a little. Nothing less than a polo for guys or jeans and a nice shirt is about right. Fairly quiet, good setting.

Overall I’d say it’s bring an A game to the area and the city. While it can be a little pricy, I think the quality is worth it. I’ll be going back!

Amazing restaurant. I went for a wine dinner and they had the head of the French Vineyard there to talk about wines as well as one of the top worldwide wine consultants, Bartholomew Broadbent. The head chef has an excellent track record even working at Inn At Little Washington. 10/10.

I had heard so much about this new restaurant so we had to try it out. Excellent food! The menu is not large but everything was fantastic because of the subtle spices. Even a greens and goat cheese salad was unique and better than any other salad I have had because of the spices and the incredible goat cheese. My entree of chicken breast and broccoli sounds plain but was amazing! Broccoli came three ways; tempura, steamed, and a delicious puree. Not plain at all! I would say the Midlothian Chef's Kitchen definitely lives up to the hype!
