While looking for a place for a quick lunch, came upon Bonefire. Fabulous atmosphere with great food. Had the fried green tomato BLT and Pulled pork barbecue sandwich. Did not disappoint!

This was our first visit while traveling back from out of state. I’m not sure why this place only has a 4.2 star Google rating—our experience was excellent. I’d give all the food (and the unsweetened tea) a 5 star with the exception of the brisket (4 stars—fork tender but you could tell it was reheated and not fresh off the pit) and collards (the seasoning was just not to our liking). The baby baker potatoes were superb and the corn fritters were different enough to be a unique surprise to an old favorite. The fried apples were a perfect balance of sweet and tart. All the wait staff and bartender (possibly the owner?) were extremely friendly and our food came out in less than 10 minutes. The ambiance was authentic with exposed brick and hardwood floors and plenty of natural lighting. They were playing blues music during our visit at a comfortable volume. Abingdon should be glad to have this restaurant.

Was looking for a restaurant close to abingdon and remembered eating here before covid broke out. Now offering dine in option, this place was wonderful, I forgot how good the cornbread fritters were along with their barbecue. Staff was wonderful, restaurant was clean and the prices were fair. Plus Plenty of parking behind the restaurant. Definitely will be back soon. It was delicious.

I've been to many places up n down the east coast but Bone fire smoke house BBQ really stands out. Upon entering the establishment you are warmly greeted by an outstanding bartender who will accommodate all your needs . The menu is diverse and with exceptional entrees and Appetizers. I cannot describe the succulent wings and sauce bar they offer its something you must experience. Their ribs are to die for and other menu options I have yet to try. I can say I am really impressed by the quality of the food and service which nowadays is lacking in many establishments. They offer musical entertainment while you dine which is also unique in today's establishments. So if your in or visiting Abingdon VA make sure you stop and enjoy their cuisine and entertainment you will not be disappointed since it stands out and surpasses many restaurants by far!

Wonderful atmosphere in a 100+ year old building. Our group had the ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Everything was wonderful!! No BBQ sauce needed but we did try them to see how they were and they were good. The broccoli salad, mashed sweet potatoes, Mac-n-cheese, green beans and cornbread were great too! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Very, very good bar-b-que. My wife said her bar-b-que chicken sandwich was the best she'd ever had. I tried The Hog specialty sandwich which was very good. Both of our sandwiches came with house-made potato chips which were good. The restaurant is inside an old hardware store and is nicely decorated on the inside. Good atmosphere. There's a small sign in a front window (they need a bigger, better sign).

A great place to eat, ordered the smoked wings and some ribs. The service was quick and efficient. The bar had plenty of spirits and craft beers to choose.

This place is fantastic! The brisket sandwich was absolutely delicious! The service as fast and very friendly! We sat next to the open window and enjoyed the view and fresh air. The BBQ sauce is served on the side allowing the true smokey flavor of the meat to not be covered up or masked. This is the way good BBQ is intended to be eaten! The corn fritters are in a class by themselves. I am so glad I took her advice and tried them. Their home fried potato chips are also done to perfection. Can't wait to come back for more.

Love the choice of sides. Everything is amazing. Id love to know how the cornfritters and babybakers are made. We've asked the waiters a few times and tried multiple ways of making them but can not figure it out... Everything has its own unique flavor . I wish we Knew about this restaurant sooner. we hate to hear its closing down.

Stopped by for a beer with my dogs after backpacking Mt. Rogers for three days last Friday afternoon/evening. Megan the bartender took great care of me. The later stopped by for dinner and another beer and met Doug who was an awesome host. The food was amazing, the beer cold and the atmosphere perfect. Lots of new ideas coming (back patio, upstairs pool tables, etc). Already looking forward to the next visit. Forgot to mention the music. Top notch Blues. What's not to like.

The fried pickles were hands down the best I've ever had. I often peel the breading off of them but I was picking at crumbs in the bowl this time. Absolutely divine. I'm going to be thinking about those pickles a long time from now!

My husband said the ribs were excellent, and all he left was a pile of bones so I suppose he wasn't exaggerating.

I got the two-meat plate. I chose the pork loin and turkey. The pork was good, but just...good. Not spectacular, not special, just good. Moist, but hardly any smokey flavor at all. It could've been under-seasoned, baked pork. I dipped it in the BBQ sauce, which was very, very good, and certainly enjoyed both small slices.
The turkey was excellent, smokey, flavorful, needed no sauce, but was a little bit dry.
Unfortunately, there was only about 3 bites of it. Literally one small slice.

The baby bakers were delicious. Interesting, unique, and seriously good. I really loved whatever they did with those!

The baked beans or whatever their version was.. We did not like them.

The collards had too much sugar and nothing else. I love collards, so I salted and ate every scrap of them including the juice with some highly yummy cornbread, though.

I sincerely hope the nana puddin was just having a bad night, bc it was the worst I've ever tried to eat. Neither of us could choke it down. Tasted like they took plain pudding, blended it with over-ripe bananas fit only for bread making, and then served it over hard cookies. It was *not* southern banana pudding.

The atmosphere is neat, comfy, clean, and fun. There's music but it isn't too loud. It was cozy and would be fun for a date night. Restroom was clean.

Our waitress was new but EXCELLENT, sweet, thoughtful, fast, funny, and just an all-around gem.

Neat BBQ place in what appears to be an old hardware store...at least the old lettering above the place said "Hardware". We ended up parking in the back off the main street and cutting thru an alley to get to the front. The Hill Billy Philly was delicious... Made with tender chopped brisket, smoked gouda, peppers and onions on a toasted sub. Came with homemade crinkle cut chips. Service was on point, with a guy who I think was the owner, helping wait on us with refills. Everyone in our riding group enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

Food and service was phenomenal! Best brisket and ribs around! You have to try the corn bread fritters. Collard greens where cooked to a perfect (not mushy) texture and had a more sweet savory flavor. Potato salad had a great smoked flavor and was nothing like I had ever had before. The brisket Philly sandwich with Gouda cheese, peppers, and onions literally melted in my mouth!
Get a side of their bbq sauce - you will put it in everything.
Service was great and we got our food without a huge wait.
We will be back to try more of their menu selection!

I decided to come here for something different with my wife. We were pleasantly delighted at the overall friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the dining room as well as its decor. We ordered the cornbread fritters for the appetizer, and they were amazing. The wife ordered brisket and ribs with collard greens and baby bakers. I ordered ribs and chicken with Mac n cheese and potato salad. It was amazing food with amazing service. If you are considering a place to eat, look no more and stop in and get you a bite here!

First time there, all around great atmosphere. I had the Chopped Brisket Sandwich with Baby Baker Potatoes and Mac-n-Cheese all of which were superb, paralleled only by the service provided by your magnificent waitress Mollie. Thanks again Mollie for your help and suggestions.

First time here and the food was fabulous! My husband is the meat eater I'm a vegetarian. The waitress told me they had bar-b-qued jackfruit. I tried it and have been hooked ever since. The food is delicious. The staff is excellent and super friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting.

I live in Richlands Va and every time I visit Abingdon Va my initial stop is the Bonefire Smokehouse BBQ. Great food, great atmosphere, great staff. The resturant is going through renovations but so far the interior beauty has not been impacted. Their name will be changing to Bone Fire at the Hardware. It’s hard to pick one meal as a favorite because the menu has such a huge selection. Prices are reasonable and service impeccable. Live bands on Sundays and Mondays. A must visit in Abingdon
