Our dog Bella has 2 tumors on each of her adrenal glands. One is the size of a baseball and the other the size of a golf ball. We decided to pursue radiation treatment with Dr. Ben. I can't say enough about how wonderfully Bella was treated and how wonderfully we were treated by Dr. Ben and his staff. They are so acccommodating and nice! They go above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable with everything they were doing for Bella. She had 5 treatments and came through beautifully each time. We highly recommend Dr. Benot Clerc-Renaud - he is absolutely the best ever!

My dog Puzzle was diagnosed with aggressive oral melanoma in July of 2021, which has an expected survival time of 4-6 months without treatment and 6-10 months with treatment. Dr. Fritz provided knowledgeable and compassionate care to us and explained all our options. With her guidance we started the melanoma vaccine and got more than two more years with our boy. He recently passed of unrelated causes with no sign of his cancer returning. We are so grateful for VRA's excellent care which gave us so much more time with our old man. While I hope we never have to use the oncology service with our pets again, I would not hesitate to return to them if needed. Thank you all so much!

We brought our cat in because we knew something wasn’t right. From the moment we entered the facility the staff were friendly and sympathetic, which was extremely comforting. The doctors were honest, and very responsive, given that our cat stayed there for multiple days this was much needed. When it was determined that surgery was needed due to a ruptured bladder, Dr. Ganjei was the best person for the job. Our cat was home within less than 24 hours of the surgery and healed within less than a week. VRA made sure she came home a healthy and happy cat. Thank you for everything you do.

I was transferred here at 2am with my dog whose cornea ruptured last night. An emergency clinic in DC coordinated with VRA because they had an ophthalmologist on call and from the moment I stepped in the door we were treated with complete professionalism and kindness. Today I picked up my dog after she had surgery and again, the staff was wonderful. I highly recommend this clinic.

Dr. Conway and her team were unbelievably helpful with my cat's radio-iodine (I131 treatment.) Pricing was transparent, the treatment and condition were exhaustively explained, and we received regular check-ins from the nurses during the week she was away.

If you have a hyperthyroid pet, and are considering I-131, a.) you should and b.) this is the place to do it.

My wife and I have been to VRA a couple times over the past five years, and both times the staff and doctors did a fantastic job. They're empathetic when dealing with one's pet, take time to explain situations, answer questions, provide options, and provide details.

When one has a sick/injured pet, it helps a lot to deal with good people. They are often busy, and they keep a sign posted warning about possible wait times, but usually things move faster. This kind of service, and the level of expertise, means it's not inexpensive. But they are very, very upfront about costs and estimates, so there has never been any kind of surprise. Often a refund, if costs come in lower than the estimate after completion of services.

Dr. Ganjei performed stenotic nares surgery on my exotic longhair persian. He is amazing and now she can breathe so much better. He is a gifted surgeon and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else for my cats care. Everyone was so very helpful and really care about the work that they do. Top notch! I traveled from Leesburg Virginia because I love Dr. Ganjei he is THE BEST! Hugs to you all!

I cannot say enough great things about this hospital. The staff is amazing and very responsive and accommodating. From the front desk to all the doctors and surgeons - they are top notch! It's great to know that there is an emergency hospital for our beloved pets to go to where they care for the animals better than any human hospital. In fact, any one of the area human hospitals could learn a lot from VRA!

My dog was having congestive heart failure and I didn’t realize how serious it was, but I was referred to VRA and I am so thankful I was! They immediately leaped into action and took him back, bypassing the wait, because he was in distress and needed stabilized. They took amazing care of him and got him back to normal by the next day.

This was the first time my dog, who is 14 years old, has ever had a medical emergency and ask the first time he’s ever stayed the night away from us, so it was stressful for all of us, but VRA could not have made it a better experience for us. They went out of their way to be caring, kind, and empathic. We were never once treated like a burden, in fact they usually took our request and exceeded it. We wanted to visit him one evening and thought we could just go to his cage for a few minutes to say hi to him but since they were too busy they set us up in an exam room and let us just chill in there for an hour, at our own pace, with peace and quiet, and it was exactly what we all needed.

As any pet parent is, I was beyond worried and nervous about my baby, but he was in the best care possible and every member of the team was just outstanding!

I took my 8 yr old frenchie for a neurology consult with Dr. Reese in November 2023 for severe tremors and severe pain.
At the consult Dr. Reese recommended suspected of herniated discs and recommended an MRI with possible need of surgery. I decided to try meds first and postpone the MRI. So after a month of no significant improvement I decided to proceed with the MRI. The MRI confirmed she has two mild herniated discs that shouldn’t be causing her this much pain/misery. Dr. Reese also stated she could potentially have a autoimmune disease and explained she would have to be on steroids for quite some time with tapering, she is on a really low dose now and still has a few more weeks left to finish her treatment. She is no longer in pain and is back to herself again. We are hoping she won’t need surgery.
I am so happy i found Dr. Reese, she has an excellent bedside manner, she is always very attentive and replies fast when I call or e-mail her. She doesn’t rush you and answers all your questions, I I highly recommend her.
The check-in staff was very courteous and the vet techs as well.
Thank you.

Had a Friday night ER visit for our doggy. We called before we came and they asked several clinical questions to assess the severity. When we arrived and were checked into a room the ER vet came and spoke with us. She was very patient with us when explaining concepts to make sure we understood all possible treatment options.

Everyone at VRA -- the Doctors, Surgeons, Vet Techs and the Admin Staff are THE BEST!!.
They are all compassionate and professional. They are animal lovers themselves and understood that this was a very frightening and stressful time for us. They offered kindness and emotional support, and with the wonderful talent that these professionals provided, we are fortunate to have our pup back!! Thank you for everything.

Dr. Ganjei is an extremely knowledgeable and compassionate veterinarian who truly wants to help your furry loved ones. He understood how special our dog was to us, and went above and beyond to offer him the best care possible. He answered our questions and even sought second opinions to provide us with the best informed range of options. In our case
unfortunately, options were limited and the outlook wasn't favorable, but that did not stop Dr. Ganjei's open and honest communication on the realities of our choices. His candor meant a great deal to us during a difficult time and we would absolutely recommend him to anybody in need of a veterinary surgeon.

I brought my boy Joey here from another ER in the area due to a potential obstruction. They took him in immediately, doctors explained everything, called me with any and all updates, and even let me see him prior to going under anesthesia. I was shocked going into the back to see him in a nice big kennel run and him laying on a comforter and blankets rather than the hard floor! They were able to find an obstruction and I was able to bring him home shortly after!

We were really impressed with this hospital. While the outcome was not what we wanted, the care and attention they provided to our cat and us was outstanding. The staff and doctors understood the delicate situation and showed kindness and compassion. They took time to answer our many questions even after we left the hospital and even though some of them were not the person who initially treated our cat. Whoever we spoke to, took time to understand our situation and provided guidance. They didn't try to over sell or push into treatmeants we didn't want. Unfotunately, they are not cheap, but I am grateful for the services they provided and their understanding in trying to keep costs to a minimum.

Veterinary Referral Associates is a superb specialty and emergency care hospital. The service is outstanding and I am thankful that I can get emergency care for my dog when she needs it. We also get a call the next day to see how our dog is doing.

Recently took our 3 year old lab to VRA for saliva gland removal surgery earlier this month. We received a referral specifically for Dr. Ganjei and we're so happy with how well he took care of our pup and the results of the surgery. The staff was also very helpful and informative on the entire process from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Dr. Ganjei operated on my pup Maggie 5 years ago in Vienna. I found him in Gaithersburg when she needed another surgery and didn't hesitate to make the 50 minute drive over there and back. I wasn't disappointed in either will you be. I'm sure all the rest of the doctors there are great docs but Dr Ganjei is my go-to. The whole staff there was very pleasant to deal with friendly accommodating. Highly recommend them for emergency veterinary services or any surgical needs.

I can’t thank Veterinary Referral Associates enough. Everyone from the techs, specialists such as Dr. Crumley, the receptionists, and the scheduler (Ashley) are absolutely AMAZING! They treat your pets as their own with plenty of love and care. A huge thanks to Veterinary Referral Associates for being so understanding and accommodating during my furry pal’s emergency. Being that there are very few ophthalmologists for dogs in Virginia, I had to call VRA for an emergency appointment as the other offices I called were either closed or would not see my dog until 2 weeks later. I called VRA and let them know my dog’s eye was cloudy and that he was squinting. They took me in that same day, diagnosed my dog with a severe bacterial infection in his eye, and immediately started treating it. Thanks to the staff and Dr. Crumley for seeing my pet the same day I called, and for that my dog still has his eye! I can’t thank them enough!

Everyone staff members are very helpful, professional, positive, and courteous. Wait time is very minimal and prices are reasonable. Do not hesitate to bring your pet to VRA. Your pet will be in good hands with VRA :)
