I had been sick for a few days and not eating. After running some tests, my PCP referred me to the Holy Cross Hospital ER. Conveniently, its right next door so he called ahead, explained my condition, and had me brought over by wheelchair. The gentleman at the intake desk was fast, friendly, professional and courteous. Just as I finished registration, I was called back for triage. Triage and following EKG was same - friendly, quick, courteous and professional. You appreciate this when you're feeling as lousy as I was. I had maybe a 20 minute wait before they called me back and assigned me a bed in a room that was clean, and comfortable, and fortunately the lights were dimmed. Again, when you feel bad, this helps a lot. Roseanne W. my initial ER nurse was so friendly, nice, and helpful. She took the time to explain my plan of care, any medication I was being given, what was showing up on some of the lab tests, kept following-up with test results that were still not in, any additional tests or medication being ordered for me, checked my pain status, and even gave some advice on additional vitamins I should try next time I'm sick. My second ER nurse (shift change) Shanteal was equally friendly and competent. I found the ER Attending, Dr Sherk was professional, and took time to explain my diagnosis, patiently answered any questions I had and was pleasant to talk to. All the ER staff I encountered were friendly and patient, always smiling and kind and would ask how I'm doing.
I read a lot of negative reviews and felt compelled to post my own experience with HC ER. I had no negative experiences to report, and I interacted with at least a dozen people in the 6-7 hours I was there. If I had to be in an ER, I'm glad it was at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown.

I was taken here one Friday at 3am. Pneumonia had set in, I was totally out of it and could barely breathe. The ER staff hooked me up and proceeded to clean out my system, calmed my rising panic, brought up my O2 levels. It took awhile, so advanced was the illness, but they kept at it, eventually moving me upstairs. Late that evening they discovered a major heart issue, a complete game changer and I was airlifted to Baltimore.
The Holy Cross staff was caring, compassionate and efficient. At each step they explained what they were doing and why it was necessary. Kept me in the loop. Various people would come by and ask if I was in pain, was I hungry, did I want water or ice, did I have any questions. They cared for me as if I was a friend and not just Number 12. 5 stars from me.

I've never been to an emergency room for myself before, so I realize I don't have much to base this off of, but hear me out. I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant and took a bad fall dislocating my elbow. From the moment I arrived, I had a really great experience. I was given pain medication almost immediately, then taken in for x-rays within 10 more minutes, and then had someone coming in to check on me consistently until my results were read. Everyone was incredibly nice and very professional, and I felt really cared for. After consulting with L&D and my OBGYN, they were able to reset my arm perfectly (the Ortho I was told to see is very impressed) and overall, I have nothing negative to say (other than the obvious unfortunateness of me needing to be there in the first place).

Don't know why people are putting this Hospital down so much. I went there one time for the ER and I waited literally 5 seconds and I was in. It was a Saturday and it was noon and I had zero problems

On a Saturday night we were able to get checked into a patient room within 25 minutes of arriving and were looked at shortly after that. At or above average experience compared to other ERs that I have been to. Nurses, PAs, and staff were very professional.

Is ok. It's smaller than Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and I don't think it is recognized as a stroke center. I don't think they have a recognized cardiac care or chest pain center at this time. It is in a convenient location and parking is free.

My experience here has only been in the ER. The service is extremely slow, under staffed, and not at all comfortable. I have visited here 3 times and while sitting and waiting for 4 + hours each time I would have at least wanted to watch TV. The news even! I asked the receptionist to turn on one of the 3 televisions and she said that she doesn't even know where the remote is🤔😏🤨. Now, no one even handles it but staff so......

I came to the Emergency room in the ambulance because I’m pregnant and I have abdominal pain and back they only check my blood pressure and the guy said that my pressure was low but they still send me to the waiting room I’m still here I have 9 hours trying to see the doctor I can left the hospital because. I still have pain I didn’t see the doctor yet I’m so tired frustrate and hungry I don’t know how my baby is.
I really don’t recommend this hospital if you try to speak with the nurse they are so mean with the customer and really sure that this 9 hours and more that I going to stay here they going to charge me just for been seated at the waiting area 🙄

Well it has now been 12 hours here and my wife has a treatment! The treatment takes about a hour. So that will make it 13 hours. Some how I think we are not done yet ! I bet the Doctor Still has to release her my guess is about another hour! This is terrible.

They tell you to come into the emergency room, but they only have certain doctors available. So the likelihood of you not getting help is probable and likely. “You’ll need to follow up with a specialist. I’m not an expert in that field”. So they don’t help and they send you a bill and the insurance company a bill. It’s a game. So don’t bother going here. If you need a real emergency room, go to Baltimore where doctors have experience.

I've Been To This Emergency Room Multiple Times and I Gotta Say the Last Two Times Have Been Pure Hell . I Went In For Chest Pain and SOB Only To Be Told That They Only Deal With Acute Care And Because My Test Came Back Normal That I'm Ok . I've Been Having Chest Pain For 2 Weeks . The Nurses Especially The Charge Nurse Is Hella Disrespectful. When I Came In She Talked About Me Like A Dog . I Asked For A Cab Home Because I Had No Transportation Yet The Told Me To Get On A Bus Knowing I Have Very Bad Asthma Which Makes It Where I can't Take A Bus . Because The Charge Nurse Didn't Wanna Order One they Basically Left Me Outside. I Gave Them A 1 Because That Was The Only Number That could Be Given . Between The Two Male Doctors And The Charge Nurses This Place Is BADDDDDDDD .

It's my second time at Holy Cross ER and it's worst than the first. I suspected I was having a pink eye and went it to confirm or even be diagnosed with something else. It took them 3 hours after triage see a doctor and after being seen I wanted for approximately another 2 hours to get my discharge papers and prescription. No one came back in to check on me and I'm sure I could have walked out without anyone noticing I was gone. If it's urgent please find somewhere else to go.

This is my story no more no less. My view. I put all the details so you can make up your own mind. I went there yesterday ...after close to 2 hours I have not seen a doctor. When I said that, they said 'oh you saw one when emergency ambulance arrived" in a big hall. Then if it is him he did not ask any question or presented himself and moreover he was wearing a blue uniform , thought doctors wore white and cared enough to ask you questions, history of heart disease, stroke in family which happens that my brother died of it 3 years ago at 50 and I am 48 was a heavy smoker , cholesterol and High blood pressure I mean all the risk factors. He did not care about my cholesterol , high blood pressure which was high at the moment I came. They know that women do not have always have the same symptoms as men. Women can have no symptom to having nausea , stomach pain , dizziness and vertigo etc .. common things that can be attributed to more common sicknesses. My insurance was kaiser , 911 could not take me there , after the 2 hours with the only thing they was draw blood and give pills for nausea but not vertigo or dizziness which before I called 911 stopped and came back . I asked them after 2 hours to call kaiser, my insurance to come get me since they thought I had nothing and seen no doctor. They flatly refused but Shady grove did it in the past, and Kaiser told them it will send a ambulance. They told me just go, rude and they did not want me to sign any discharge papers when I asked which I found kind of odd.

Unfortunately there's no a -1 star, this is the worst hospital, the only reason I took my husband there is because is across our house. Not only they left him waiting for over 4 hours but had the nerve to tell him why was he there that he should have called his doctor first! . Well news flash we did!! My husband was having respiratory issues not covid related they just didn't see him, after 4 hours I had to take him to Shady Grove Emergency where he was admitted right away. Stay away from this place front desk is rude and unprofessional.

Paying $350 for few hours for a terrible emergency services. There's a reason why you still can't deliver what you promised us years ago.

I brought my baby boy here to get the stitches done on his forehead while he was still bleeding, the registration nurse at the counter was a mess she had us sit in the waiting area without the registration and kept taking care of all new people. I went to the counter twice and she sent us right back in a rude way "sir, I have told you to sit there" and kept saying to wait. She was approached by another nurse who was watching the entire situation from inside and they had an argument. We had to wait another 15 minutes (an hour and half or two hours in total) prior to getting inside. I still don't know what made the registration nurse so mad me or my 5 years old bleeding son. The same nurse who approached the registration nurse apologized to us several times and she is definitely a good soul.
