Mel's Diner

The food was delicious! The prices are decent. You don't get a ton of food like some breakfast places, but what you get is cooked perfectly. The waitress was nice too! It was decorated in a fun way!

Classic diner, great environment. Coffee is hot and strong.

Friendly staff, the environment feels comfortable and relaxed. Good music playing in the background.

A must stop if traveling through in the morning.

Only downside, I was hoping for a crab omelet.. lol. No crab omelets here.

Its a diner car from the 1940s. Burgers were good. Fries were skin on thick cut. Fries tasted a little off. But not bad maybe old fry grease . Wife had onion rings and said they tasted just right.

It's a classic diner feel. On travel days, plan to wait a minute for a seat. It is worth the wait. All kinds of nostalgia on the walls and some snarky stuff. Food is diner fare and tasty. The staff is awesome.

Large groups will not be sitting together, so plan ahead and pick your group without the annoying in-law.

As a European who is first time in US and who never visited Diners before I was impressed a loooot. So atmospheric interior, such a good food. The lady served us was so nice and careful. (And it has the decent clean restroom)

Step back in time in this iconic restaurant. Taken from the 📺 citcom Mel's you are whisked back it time with the decorations and staff. The food is exceptional as is the service. Very reasonable priced.

Always been a fan of diners like these. Mel's did not disappoint. Great food, great staff and an awesome atmosphere.

This place is so cute! Everyone was super friendly and their burgers were delicious. Their French fries were amazing too! We live about an hour away and only come out to OBX for vacation, but we are definitely stopping at Mel's Diner on our way out every time now!!

Travelling back to Virginia and saw this passing by and had to stop! Love the aesthetic and loved the retro vibe of the place x The milkshake was the best Ive had and was a highlight of my trip to the US. If Im ever passing again, would come in a heartbeat xx

Love this place! Nostalgia everywhere. Wait service like I remember back in the day. Grits cooked perfect, fresh made biscuits, great tasting coffee. Will visit again when passing through!

We stopped here for breakfast and I have to say the blueberry pancakes are to die for! This little diner is very unique, homey and comfortable. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. The food is honest to goodness true home cooked food.

Great place to stop and relax at.

Great stop along the road on the way to OBX. Interior decor highlights diners of the past. Fabulous friendly service. We stopped 3 x over 2 weeks and enjoyed every meal.

We stopped at Mel’s Diner on our way down to see friends in Manteo. It’s a cute spot where we were able to get a seat immediately, get our food quick, and enjoyed the friendliness of the staff there. Not expensive and great food is what we like. Go try it!

Stopped in on the way to Nags Head. Although they were very busy, they were able to accommodate a party of 9 with outdoor seating and gave the kids Frisbees and a field to play in and have fun. This is a must try for folks passing through!!

First time here and I will definitely come back each trip to Outer Banks! Very friendly, Mel and her team were simply awesome!! Food was fantastic and you won't leave hungry!

I have yet to hear the cook yell at "Dingy Vera" in this place. We love oyr breakfasts here. My husband always orders more than his stomach can handle...I usually stick with the French Toast. Coffee is good and the service is better!

Kids loved it. Ribeye and fish and shrimp were the specials. They were both great. Steak was made perfectly. Kids enjoyed their food. Wait staff was really nice and made sure we paid for what we wanted. Very nostalgic wall ornaments that kept my kids asking questions
