The man is great. It's been in Durham with the knowledge and honesty for a long time. It's a very elaborate replacement, yet they have realistic prices and years of Family honesty. Look at the years of experience on the photos in the shop. The customer area is A Mini auto expo of cars throughout history! I'll have picture of my Ford Van finally rebuilt.

I dropped my car off here after being told it was a transmission issue. They quickly figured out my transmission was fine, and helped me figure out the actual problem, find another shop, and were even able to drop it off for me. Absolutely top notch service and Ill be back if I ever have a real transmission issue!

Called today for appointment for tomorrow. We dropped it off the same day I’d called (out of convenience for us). Frank called me back the same day to say the car was ready to go earlier than what we were told. Frank and his team are the best. I highly recommend this business.

I always do all my own automotive repairs on my vehicles however a total transmission swap was a little more than I could handle in my driveway. Between the Lexus dealer recommending Jakes & all of their phenomenal reviews on Google, I knew this was where I had to take my car. Frank in the front office was straight forward & on point with everything he said & did. There were no delays or run-a-rounds. The whole job was finished exactly on schedule with no issues....... My car is as good as new, though I didn't own it since new. Yes, it was pricey but, you get what you pay for & quality & respect is what I got at Jakes........ If you're ever in the same situation please go the extra mile for the knowledge & respect you'll get at Jakes. You will not be disappointed. I guarantee it & they do as well 🙂.

My transmission went out on my 02 Chevy Silverado Frank had it fixed fast and shifts like new ,honest shop. I will go back anytime I need a repair. Really good warranty also. Thank u

This a very honest shop, coming highly recommended by another honest shop (WASP). They took a look at my old van and diagnosed it for free. When the repair was too much for our budget and we opted to not repair, they were gracious and understood. They still did not charge for the diagnostic. They were further able to keep my car for another day while I figured out my budget. I would definitely take my car back to them for transmission work if/when needed.

Lovely people, very honest and trustworthy. While too many repair shops are eager to give you the upsell, the nice folks at Jake's really have your best interests at heart. I took my 2013 Impreza in for a transmission problem, and their help and advice actually saved me money. If I ever have transmission issues again, I'm taking my car to Jake's, full stop.
Also, the waiting area is really well decorated :)

I had two people tell me I should take my car to Jakes. After calling 3 places Jake's beat others pricing by alittle so I decided to have my pathfinder hauled there. Service was very friendly. My pathfinder runs as good as new. I'm glad that I took my vehicle there and would highly recommend for others to do the same. UPDATE- IT HAS BEEN 3 YEARS AND TRANSMISSION IS STILL LIKE THE DAY I LEFT THEIR SHOP

Jake's has worked on my 73' Chevrolet a few times and has fixed my transmission right each time. It's a manual 3-speed conversion in the floor and they are knowledgeable about older vehicles. They work fast and respond and answer my calls quickly. Prices are good and they won't hose you. Also, they back their work. Definitely recommend for anyone who needs transmission work.

Once I took my truck to Aamco out of convenience and they didn't have a qualified technician to work on my truck.

Even if I need to have it towed, it's going to Jake's.

Once again, Jake's has renewed my faith that there are still some HONEST businessmen. Year;'s ago they saved me from a costly repair based on a disreputable business's diagnostic. Recently I took my nephew there after an equally suspicious diagnosis for his vehicle. And once gain they have found and related to me that it was not even close to the level previously reported. This is one truly honest establishment and I will continue to go to them whenever there service is needed without hesitation.

Super friendly and HONEST!! I thought I might need a new transmission. I was referred to Jakes and I am glad I took it there. Frank and his boys were very knowledgeable and helpful. It was just a cable that they had to repair. They could have told me I needed a whole new transmission, I would not have known.

The dealership recommended replacing the transmission to the tune of $2600. Frank and the guys were able to install a Solenoid Kit for $410. That was 2 years ago and I have absolutely no issues with the transmission since. Everything went like clockwork exactly as they said it would.

Jake's is an incredibly honest establishment, as well as being remarkably upbeat. If you need a transmission place, you are already having a bad day. Frank - the guy I worked with - has a great "bedside manner." I don't imagine it's easy for him when he has to tell people bad news. He did a great job of helping me understand my car's problem, and what solutions Jake's has to offer. Also, the office at Jake's is very homey, and my two kids (4 and 6) enjoyed looking over the extensive collection of toy cars, instead of being exposed to the televisions that are so ubiquitous in auto-related establishments. I found Jake's because the good and honest folks at Lonnie's Auto Repair sent me. 10 of 10, I recommend wholeheartedly.

They suggested suggested going elsewhere because he thought our issue was still covered by dealer warranty; they didn't even charge for the diagnostic. While we didn't get service here, we were so appreciative of their help and clear attention to customer needs as a business priority. Would certainly recommend/go to again.

I purchased a used vehicle from a used car dealership and on the day of purchase, the check engine light came on:
"Transmission system problem"
"Emissions system problem"
A local service center recommended Jake's Transmissions.
After the check engine light diagnostic was completed, Frank, who had also consulted the local Honda dealership service center, insisted that I pursue a refund of my purchase price.

Frank presented himself as knowledgeable, concerned and caring.
He should have been a physician.
However, I'm glad he isn't because I received my refund by FedEx this morning.

Customer service and communication is by far some of the best I've ever experienced. Their prices are fair and they complete the work when promised. They've earned my long-term business.

Had the transmission fluid changed in the 2012 Equinox, they did it quick while I waited, it drives great. I am very pleased with the service I received, great people too!

Simply the best. Frank and his kid know their stuff. I would happily drive by many many other transmission shops to get to Jake's. I would not trust anyone else. Anyone would be foolish to go anywhere else.
