Pitt County Dump - Falkland

This facility has typically always had great staff, but the available services are not at the same level as other facilities in the county. The surfaces adjacent to the various stations are unimproved (unpaved) and are often muddy or flooded during and sometimes for long periods after rain. The yard waste container does not have elevated access, so patrons often block the entry with their loads, and the door gets closed early. Anything more has to be thrown over the side. I will give 3 stars, but it is more for the staff than for the long suffering setup at this facility. it wouldn't take much to make it 5 stars. This has got to be one of the busiest sites in the county. I will add photos later.

UPDATE
Today when I visited our neighborhood facility I was pleasantly surprised to find that the yard waste container had been transitioned to a position where it was accessible from above. While I am sure that this will require more frequent trips to bring empty containers, I am more than certain that it will pay off as many in the neighborhood were not able to hoist their loads over the side as they had to in the bin's old position and will feel more positive about doing yard work and beautifying their properties without worrying about the risk of throwing their back out. I look forward to the continued improvements at the Falkland facility. I would love it if the surfaces could be improved so that people don't have to stand in mud to throw away their commingle.
