Well worth the drive from an hour away!! Fantastic Friday Family Night meal and atmosphere. Service was awesome and fast. Table of seven served with no issues. You must get jalepeno sausage. Unbelievably good!

This was a great stop during the light show. My kids had a blast and loved the Mac and cheese. Service was great. Good cocktails too. Truly an authentic Texas vibe.

Best pulled pork I've ever had! It literally melts in your mouth. I ordered the pulled pork nachos and they were full of flavor and pulled high with pulled pork. My husband ordered the Cubano sandwich and it was amazing as well This place stays busy and I can see why. Will definitely visit again on our next stop in Johnson City.

We tried the ribs, turkey and brisket in a sample platter and enjoyed a house salad, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and beans as our sides. Everything was delicious and the service was so quick! The atmosphere is very inviting. We left very satisfied 😌.

Stopped in for an early lunch. Tried the fried pickles for appetizer. Really fresh and hot. I ordered the chicken fried steak and was very pleased with the quality of the food. The cream gravy had just the right amount of black pepper. This meal came with collard greens and I'm not a fan of them but these were actually pretty tasty. I would definitely stop in if you're in the area. Worth taking the time for a meal here

First time visiting this restaurant with a close friend. We had Texas caviar as a starter, a brisket plate and chicken fried steak. All meals were excellent, the brisket was so tender and the sides, beans and potato salad were very tasty. The chicken fried steak was huge and tender with delicious mashed potatoes and greens. The staff were friendly and checked on us numerous times. The ambiance is lovely and the tables are well spaced so you don’t feel cramped. They have a beautiful antique bar and lots of outdoor seating as well. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Visiting from GA and decided to try this place. It was a great all-around experience! Very neat revitalization of an older small town. Sampled a couple BBQ meats and sides, and a wonderful cocktail called the “Watermelon Crawl”! Everything was delicious, especially the Texas style beans. The waitress was friendly and very helpful with her own personal recommendations on the menu. Does not deserve some of these negative reviews in my opinion.

First time visit while in town for the weekend of lights and wine tasting. Short wait to get seated. No worries there was a bar setup outside. The cranberry margarita was delcious. Once seated our waitress was friendly, attentive and brought crayons for our littles age 5 and 3 to color. I ordered chicken fry steak with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. All delcious. I try to hunt down a good chicken fry anytime we road trip as it is a hard to find dish in our area. Mac and cheese for the kids. Brisket queso for appetizer (was loaded with queso). We will definitely recommend and be back for more! 🍽🏅

I got the specials for Tuesday the tacos 🌮 and the house margarita. Love the tacos 🌮I recommend the pull pork. But the house margarita was way to tart, put some triple sec or simple syrup in that....plz. I added 2 things if sugar packs and a shot 🥃 Grand Marnier in there and if finally was ok for me to chug...not drink chug down. I love margaritas and I will give you a recipe for you to use that is so much better than what your giving.

However, the server Kimberly was attentive and was okay with checking on us even though we took forever to order 🍽 and checked on us to make everything was good. Was very smiling and friendly.😁

You can taste the smoke!! 💨Omg 😱 love it. I could tell the meat was smoked and beans where made on the grill and could taste the smoke 💨 from real smoke and not liquid. Great job...I will be coming back soon.

Great food and service. This is a cool little place. Lots of space, good food and great atmosphere. We will definitely be back. And, Try the Toasted Marshmallow Old Fashioned.

I'm a local and have been to Proof and Cooper many times. It definitely took them a bit to get a consistent flow going as far as their food, but they have really become one of our favorite places for several reasons!

1) You know what you're going to get. I have found that their specials typically aren't great, because the cooks haven't had time to work the kinks out. But their regular menu food is always great and their BBQ is fabulous!

2) They have consistent, normal hours. Locals can pretty much enjoy at any time for lunch or dinner.

3) Their cocktails are great! They have "Thirsty Thursday" which is half price cocktails. Their seasonal drinks are so enjoyable! We've tried just about everything and you won't find a bad one.

4) Service is really great - attentive and polite and knowledgeable of the menu.

Some of our favorites: Nashville tenders, any of the BBQ, apple pecan salad, Texas twinkies! Drinks: Watermelon crawl, Garden Rita, Coopers Marg and your standard pina colada! Oh and their mule is good!

First time here! Great place to enjoy a good BBQ. This place is beautiful in the inside and it has a hidden game room for the family to enjoy. The food was great….we all got plates with different meats and sides. Don’t forget to get your dessert. It’s worth it! 😊

Cubano?? Yes, please! Came here for the chicken fried steak for my hubby and he said it was excellent, he got the beans instead of the greens and said they were good. Gravy was a good consistency and pretty alright. I got the Cubano and it was delicious, easily one of the better sandwiches I've gotten from anywhere. The fried pickles were good and the queso with brisket was drool worthy. The sweet tea hit just right and our server, Kaitlyn, was great and very attentive. Definitely enjoyed our visit and will be back whenever we roll through this neck of the woods.

We had the fried catfish and the grilled pork chop with potatoes and grilled zucchini. All was very good. The service was personable as well. We would definitely eat there again!

I had the veggie sammich and it was absolutely delicious. We had a big party and they accommodated us perfectly. Our kids loved playing on the playground outside and in the arcade.

Cool place! Stopped here for some typical dinner and got what we wanted (can't go wrong with Brisket!). Local atmosphere, good people.

Servers could care less about ya, otherwise GREAT experience. Very cool location for adults and kids. Very good food. (Coming from a 7 year professional pitmaster)

Hostess was really nice and let me know that my fur baby and I could sit on the heated patio. Bartender was friendly and made me feel welcomed. Food was good, the Cucumber Rickey was refreshing and the Bloody Mary was tasty. Went there twice this weekend and enjoyed my visits.

Excellent service and atmosphere. I had the chicken salad sandwich on Texas toast, broiled collard greens and French fries. My meal was delicious.
