Last Saturday evening, the EHS Class of 1971 celebrated our 51st HS reunion at the 1863 catered by Velora. Around 60 people attended and had an excellent time! Even with a major electric outage that evening, everyting ran smoothly and was delicious. We had a buffet style meal and cash bar. The food was delcious and complemented the warm environment. Many classmates offered positive comments on the food and how well the evening was managed. THANK YOU so much for making our class reunion such a memorable celebration. Pat (Hiser) Shinn

Under new management who love the community AND good food! The new bar is terrific and gives the place a whole new vibe. My Rodan + Fields teammates and I hosted an event here. EVERYTHING we ordered was terrific (drinks, appetizers, and a couple of meals). Staff was attentive but not intrusive. The entire experience was just great.

Had prime rib. Wife had sirloin. Both were perfect. Baked potatoes and veggies were also great. Bartender is a nice and friendly guy. Pretty nice place within rock throwing distance of our hotel.

Food was delicious! Only complaint was the roasted squash wasn't cooked. Will definitely be returning!

Food was fantastic! The wait staff was a little stand-offish but I suppose that is due to the Covid19 and the fact that I am a stranger to them.

Yum. Yum and yum. We did take out and got the 6 oz sirloin with baked potato. I got the cucumber tomato salad and my wife got grilled asparagus. All done to perfection. Steak was tender and juicy cooked exactly like we asked for. The baked potato was one of the best we've had. My salad was very tasty and fresh. Would absolutely recommend this place if staying in Elkins,WV.

Me and my husband was in your restaurant about 3 weeks ago and ordered your Tavern Stuffed Shrimp. It was the best shrimp
We had ever tasted and we have ate a lot of seafood from all over our country. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the crab meat that it was stuffed with was also good.I Will definitely recommend this restaurant and this dish to all my family and friends.

We used 1863 Appalachian Bistro to caterer a Celebration of Life/Reunion for our family in Philippi. The brought the food to event, setup, served, packaged leftovers, and cleaned-up.
The All-American Buffet was a great spread. We had many options to choose from to satisfy all our guests desires. My gluten-free daughter was able to discuss the menu and ingredients with the two servers during setup to ensure she didn't have an issue. They were awesome and were able to tell her the ingredients they used to make the items that morning.
Velora and Mike were great to work with and I would highly recommend them to caterer your next event!
Thanks for making our event so special - everyone loved the food!

I personally don't know why the rating was so low, but I really enjoyed eating at this place. The pulled pork and chicken was very solid, even though I prefer the pulled pork in North Carolina more. Even so, the food is cheaper and better than Smoke in the Water in my opinion. Also, this restaurant has an extensive menu that I will be back for more.

The breakfast here (Appalachian bistro) was absolutely insanely amazing. My husband's biscuits and gravy were the bomb dot com and i had an egg & bacon biscuit, which was also fabulous. I had a German chocolate cake latte and it was amazing 😍

Stopped for a late lunch after some sight seeing. Well decorated. Nice atmosphere. I will admit the place was empty. But due to the time of day that is to be expected. The food was spot on. Every item we had was expertly prepared and plated. This may seem silly but the French Fries were cooked to perfection golden brown and crispy. Not forgotten in old oil and left too long to become bitter. The Philly tender and delicious. Care was taken carmelize the peppers and onions with out loosing their color. The salad consisted of field greens and vegetables crisp and fresh. Appearing to be sliced with skill and not jagged and wilting from a bag or rushed, uncaring and dull knife skills. The pasta Alfredo was smooth and velvety and coated the pasta delicately with the flavors of parmesan, butter, garlic and cream. The cinnamon rolls were an unexpected treat. Sweet , sticky and tender dough. After a short conversation with the chef at the end our meal, I feel confident there is a passionate artist preparing the meals. And although well prepared not pretentious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

An old favorite made new again. We have loved 1863 for years. It's so nice to see it grow and morph into such an attractive place. I have really enjoyed Sushi Nights as well as my daughter. We are planning to go tonight for dinner with my sister and daughter and a friend.

Welcome all for a very good dining experience. Relaxing and good food.

We were looking for a nice place to have a "girls dinner". We enjoyed a FANTASTIC MEAL and our server, Megan, was equally fantastic
Not just her service but she became a part of our party. Wonderful evening. 1863 and Megan will be my pick everytime it's my turn. Thank you so much

The lunch isnt good, but the dinners are where it's at! Love the rolls and the chicken alfredo with breadsticks. The sweet potato fries are rocking! Everything always comes out hot. The atmosphere is very calm and quiet.

I ate here during my stay in Elkins. I ordered the sirloin and the steak came out in a timely fashion cooked to perfection (medium rare). I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting the owners. They’re wonderful people with good energy! I highly recommend the restaurant. The prices are very fair as are the portions. Make sure to eat here when in Elkins! - Nick

Nice, quiet setting inside. Very attentive waiter/waitress and the food was great. I like the diversity of the menu, specializing in BBQ but offering many other choices.

Their philly cheese steak is made with a good bun and prime rib, recommend either the cheddar or pepper jack with sweet potato fries. Not many culinary experiences to be had in this area, but 1863 is a fantastic alternative to most of what's in town.
