Bears Den Restaurant & Tavern

I was driving trough Dover Foxcroft earlier today, a quintessential New England town tucked away in the northern woods of Maine. I saw this place and decided to stop in for breakfast. I was greeted by Abi, a friendly waitress who told Me she would be right with Me. I sat down at the "food bar" and asked if they had Steak and Eggs, she told Me yes, I told her how I wanted it, and headed to the little boys room.

Upon My return Abi tells Me "I hope your not in a rush, we were out of steaks, but I sent a guy to the market, he should be back in a few moments." I paused, shocked at the reply, "You sent him to the store for My steak? Really?" She laughed and said, "Why yes! I told the cook "He seemed so excited we had steak, Im not going to disappoint him now!"

I mean, who does that anymore? 99.9% percent of servers would have said "Sorry, no steak today, so sorry, sucks being you, better luck on your next request." But not at the Bear Den!

A few moments later My savor returns from the market with My steak and it hit the grill. Before I knew it, I was enjoying My steak and eggs while Abi busily "scratched her way to riches". She checked on me a few times, and refilled my coffee. Through My entire stay she was the Waitress we all dream about, experienced, attentive, excellent sense of humor and witty.

The service was excellent, portions and quality of the food was very good. Excellent value for the money.

In a world full of Karen's and plain nasty plastic people, it was wonderful to find a place that goes the extra mile for their patrons tucked away in a small town in Maine. I hope to return soon.

If you’re a fan of classic, no nonsense breakfast made with love, this is your kind of place. Be warned, the blueberry pancake is the size of a dinner plate and you will eat the whole thing whether you’re still hungry or not because it’s delicious!

Had dinner and a room stay. After having a challenging day bicycling the ATV trail in the bug festive heat from Lagrange, the staff were a welcome sight. I miss the person's name working behind the counter- he was amazing despite me choosing to be seated outside. Let me be clear- the staff had the right attitude! I only remember the dessert, which was the apple pie. I had originally planned to go up to the State Park or wild camp. Then I found out I could get a cabin right there without all the extra miles.

The food and service were fantastic. We ate outside on the patio with our dogs, and they were very accommodating and would highly recommend them!!

Had a blast at Kareoke night. Great staff, great drinks.

I've been to the Bear's Den a handful of times. Always a good experience. Good food. Good drinks. Fun atmosphere on the weekends when they have live bands.

A must stop when visiting my hometown. Wide variety on the menu, solid cooking, and staff. There is a lot of nostalgia for me.

. My waitress was Mindy. She was awful. Terrible service and attitude. Didn't tip her. If she is your waitress just get up and leave

Excellent service. Charming decor and the best Reuben I have ever had! Corned beef was pure beef, no gristle or fat. The sauerkraut was fresh and excellent. Husband had chowder and 1/2 sandwich, excellent also. Good choice of wine, beer and cocktails. Definitely stop for lunch or more.

We had a reservation for 6 at the Bear's Den, showed up with 7, more room made for the extra person on the spot. We had some pretty elderly, eccentric people in our party. Our server Brooke was nothing short of amazing, delt with everyone in a very friendly, professional manner.. Kept our drinks full ( thank gosh!!) She was absolutely great!!!!!!!!

Loved it! Ordered a yummy cheeseburger well done and it came out perfect! Fried were nice and hot and the onion rings were awesome. Also had the strawberry shortcake for dessert and was soooo impressed with this old fashioned homemade dessert. Just like when I was a kid! And friendly service!

The amount of food you get could be eaten in 2 sitting or shared. The staff were extremely friendly and professional!! We loved everything about it. Can't wait to go back!

Had the whole belly clams, baked potato, side salad. Great portions. They were Excellent![

I ordered a steak sandwich with peppers onions and mushrooms. I had one piece of pepper and no mushrooms at all.

Great place to eat while 4 wheeling. Great staff. Food usually is pretty good. I would say stay away from the tomato bisque.

Perfect little spot great food! The chicken strips were amazing! The staff was extremely friendly! The drinks were made just the way a diver likes em. Lol. They do only have one pet friendly room so plan ahead!

This place has everything it takes to make it a great destination. We were on a 1200 mile snowmobile trip around the state when one of our friends had an accident on his snowmobile. While he was at the hospital we had lunch there. They helped us get a room after they were already closed and were very hospitable. We asked if they knew some that could get our friend to the airport the next day as we were continuing our trip and the owner offered to take him on the hour trip to the airport. We offered to pay and he would not accept any money from us. Great food great people at an unbelievable price. Thanks for the hospitality in our unfortunate situation.

My husband and I stopped for drinks and we absolutely liked this place. At the entrance they have a dinning area and in the back passing the restrooms they have a bar , it is decorate with bears and other animals. Our bartender was so friendly and her service was outstanding.
