Center Theatre

What an awesome little theater! I love that this place is community-supported and oriented. The person manning the ticket sales and concessions was kind enough to explain to us that they have local sponsors and volunteers take care of tickets, etc. They also serve as a platform for a local theater group and short films by Maine directors, etc.

There are two rooms showing films; we were in the smaller one. There was only one other couple at 6:30 on a Monday evening so it felt like a private showing. Price could not be beat...$7 per ticket for the movie. Popcorn was also cheap. It's definitely a low-risk way to see a movie you're not too sure is worth it, like the latest Exorcist movie (not very good at all).

If you're in the area and you want something chill to do or the weather kills your plans, take advantage of a low-cost night out and support a community theater.

My wife and I and 2 daughters went out to see the documentary The Ghost of Carmel. Nice Theatre, well kept and very polite staff. First time my wife and I had ever been there in all the years went lived close to the establishment.

Patrick and his incredible band of folks at the Center Theater were so kind and accommodating when I visited with my improv troupe, Capital City Improv. A great audience base and good vibes! I highly recommend the Center for movies, theater, and more!

Always an enjoyable evening to go there . It is a well run operation from start to finish. It's delightful to see the arts flourishing in a small community.

We rented the small theater and can’t say enough great things. The staff were EXTREMELY accommodating. The theater was perfect for a group with kids who love to get up and sing along. The concessions are very affordable. A $15 combo includes their largest sized popcorn, 2 bottled drinks and 2 theater box candies. And I think you get a refill on the popcorn!

I highly recommend getting a group of friends and family together, renting the theater, and having a great time!

Was there to see the premiere of a documentary in January. Wicked cool theater with friendly staff.

We visit my family annually and renting out the theater for 2 hours today has started a new tradition for us. The staff was so kind and courteous. I highly recommend if you’re visiting or local!

The most charming, welcoming and affordable way to view a movie or show!
The building and it's facilities are clean and cared for. The staff is friendly and attentive. The seating is comfortable with extra elbow room; no worries on leg room or accommodations for wheelchair accessible. Parking is free and majority of an off-street shared lot. The best part is you get this for affordable prices! They are still offering a way for all of the community to enjoy their entertainment, without breaking the bank for a night (or day!) out.
The whole atmosphere is a classic theater, honoring the history of motion pictures and the thrill of a live performance. This is your "good ol time" movie or play destination!

Absolutely fantastic experience. Theater was clean, seats were comfortable, popcorn was great. Employees were so kind. The prices are absolutely unmatched. Cannot recommend more.

Watched the new minions movie. Great experience, incredibly cheap tickets.

Rainy day movie for an extremely reasonable price. Small theater, but comfortable with great viewing. Food prices were also family friendly. For a matinee show, we got two tickets, 2 drinks, and a popcorn for $20. Haven't been able to do that since I was in high school some 30 years ago!

I love this theater! Thank you for all you do for the community to provide artistic enrichment opportunities and great entertainment! I haven't set foot in a movie theater since the pandemic began and because of the privacy and safety precautions offered I was able to treat my very young children and their cousins to their first Disney movie on a big screen last spring. It was magical and so needed. We will be back over and over.

I'm not sure the people of Dover-Foxcroft and the surrounding area realize what a gem they have in the Center Theater. As one of the centerpieces of "downtown", the exterior has been kept up nicely over the years and inside it's clean with a very friendly, helpful staff. Ticket prices are very reasonable, and there is almost always a family-friendly film being shown. The theater is very involved in the community, making itself available for political groups, school activities, church groups, etc. And how fun is it to read the personal messages on the marquee going by?! Thank you Center Theater and Patrick Meyers for being such an integral part of this small Maine town!

A hidden gem in D-F! Friendly staff, great prices, high quality theater experience. Highly recommended!

My kids and I have been attending events and movies here for more than a dozen years. This is also where my kids have volunteered and learned about customer service and how to run a cash register and make change. The theatre is always conscious about health and safety in a way that makes me confident to put my children in their capable hands. Prices for movies and shows are great! $2 Tuesday can NOT be beat... A true community organization.

As a founding member of its board, I know that the Center Theater’s founding was a labor of love (and an uphill project) for this community. ‘Feasibility studies’ deemed it would be unlikely to be a successful venture but we knew better the needs of our area. It has served the populace well with accessible live arts, film and community theater for people of all ages in a beautiful renovated facility. This was a triumph for everyone in that region.
Kudos to Patrick for his thoughtful and responsible management of this local treasure, especially through the unprecedented challenges of the last few years. May it continue to thrive!

Fun theater with a great mix of nostalgia and modern decor. We saw a drag show and had a fantastic time. I love the diversity of the theater and the community.
