We always visit the Wildlife Safari Park in Ashland in the height of summer and all the animals are super lethargic because of the heat. This time we went mid-September and while it was still pretty hot, at least hiking was easier. They have a cute little petting zoo with goats and bunnies which was fun. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hiking paths are well maintained and not overly long, great for most ages. They have bison and deer herds you can see while driving through, several different birds they are rehabbing or housing permanently due to injuries (eagles, owls, pelicans, and more), a few beautiful wolves and bears, who are usually sleeping. The short hike to the frog pond is our favorite, sadly, this time the pond was completely dry (it hasn’t rained in a month and a half).
The visitor center offers a variety of toys and other souvenirs, including a bunch of Native- inspired stuff made in China. They have a Black Elk quote in front of the door near the little prairie dog town (so cute!). While I understand that they need to sell the same merchandise as the zoo since the two are owned by the same organization, it’s a shame they don’t also support the Native American community by offering Native-made jewelry, etc.
The Jurassic experience they have at the park this year was awesome, we loved looking for all the dinosaurs and reading info about them on the signs. They all move and make sounds, too! It’s only there this season (until October 1).
Overall would recommend the Wildlife Safari Park for the whole family. We visit yearly and are never disappointed.

Fun trip for kids and adults. The safari park has a driving trail and a walking trail. I recommend going in the morning before it gets too hot because the animals are more active.

We were here for the first time, and I can say that the children's impressions were constantly "Wow-look". We really liked it! We recommend going, preferably on a large or medium SUV.

At first, we didn't see you too much and you have to drive about a mile into the park before you see your first elk. Then you start to see deer and birds and other things that are common to the gulf coast. But once you hit the bison, it's all over! They are so calm they will just stand right next to your car while you video them! The wolves are also, I must see because I really dwarf what you might consider a big dog like a German shepherd.

What a great experience lots of cool things to do here. Wasn’t expected to have a great time. Lots of playground areas. Places to have a picnic, trails and a gift shop. It only cost me $12 to get in for myself. $1.00 for Sr citizens and children were cheaper. A must see!!

My family loves coming to the Wildlife Safari. It's become a favorite Sunday afternoon activity. Especially for our cat, she has this favorite stuffed Sven reindeer she totes around, so we took her to the drive-thru to see the closest thing, elk! (Just a reminder that while pets are welcome, they must stay in the car with windows closed.) But Truffle loves to see the elk and all the other amazing creatures they have here.

Great safari park. Animals have lots of areas to roam. Great short hiking trails and plenty of opportunities to get out of the car and explore. Have gone with both my kids and alone with friends and have always had fun. Highly recommend the overnight camping adventures as the are really a great time.

Beautiful and fun for the whole family. Seeing the animals up close and personal while still giving them the 'in the wild' space they need is great. Right now (Summer 2023) they have dinosaurs on display all throughout the park as well. Definitely worth the drive.

We went Saturday late in the day (4pm to be exact). Handful of cars, everything closed, but the animals were active. It was nice!

Use the trails and photo opportunities on the way in and the way out. Roads are rough and dusty if there is no rain. Bring lunch, as there are picnic areas. Animals are best seen in early mornings.

What a great day my husband and I had at the Lee G. Simmons Conservation and Wildlife Safari Park today. There was so much to see and plenty of time to sit and enjoy all the animals at our leisure. We spent the most time watching the four Bald Eagles--they were magnificent. If you like photography this is also a great place to capture wildlife in their natural elements. Thank you --we had so much fun!

Perfect outing to beat the heat and still get out. Kids absolutely loved touring around seeing the animals and spotting the random dinosaurs placed throughout the park. Went on a Saturday. There was a 5 minute wait to pay for our tickets other than that it was all at our own pace with no unwanted slow downs.

We had a great time there. Our group loved the animals and dinosaurs. You should for sure keep the dinosaurs. We were so happy we got to see Licorice the bear!

Always a good time. The granddaughters love seeing all the animals. Went inside the wildlife education center for the first time and again. The granddaughters loved being able to color numerous animal keychains and see the exhibits. They also liked the petting barn with the goats. For once the bison were right next to the road, so we got to see them really close up. Fun time.

Always love going. Nice walking. Clean. The animals are always great to see doing different things different times of year. The staff is always nice and super helpful. They always are really nice to my kids and answer all the questions they might have. It's best to go during the week when there isn't a lot of people but sometimes not everything is open. The eagles are awesome to see up close.

We had sooo much fun here! I haven't been there for years so I thought it was all a drive-thru experience. There are so many places to stop and get out and explore. The staff was extremely friendly and we learned a lot. I do recommend tennis shoes and a stroller for the walking which I forgot haha

Wonderful place. They're in the process of adding animatronic dinosaurs all through the park that will make the drive thru even more fun. Animal activity depends upon the weather, but we've never been disappointed yet. Gifts and concessions available at the entrance.

A great excursion for the family - especially on a cold day.
This is also a great activity when family or friends are visiting.
The elk and buffalo are a highlight.
