Friendly service, Food was out within 10/15 minutes, clean place and will bring you back in time!

Ive passed by this place daily for the last 15 years or so and never stopped in and I’m very glad I did ! It will be on our list for dining in 😃👍🏻

Great food and the service is always kind and friendly. We live right by and Gary always takes great care of us and his customers. The food is always delicious and well made. Me and my fiance always leave with a smile!

We came in on our way home and found it while driving with Google maps. Don't let the exterior fool ya! Service was friendly! Coffee was good, pancakes were fluffy, bacon was perfectly cooked to order (well done), the eggs and english muffins perfect as well. The real blessing was the real maple syrup! Thanks for a great meal to get us home!!

A great diner experience. Good basic fare. Decent prices. Amazing service. It's like stepping back a few decades with all of the classic Americana decor and furniture. Plus, it's VERY close to the highway and right next to the gas station.

We stopped here on Wed 6/14 on our way to Laconia. The food was delicious. I had the homemade chicken parm sandwich cooked to order. It was one of the best I have had in almost 30 years. Boyfriend had the sausage parm sandwich and enjoyed it very much! Owner, Gary was very friendly and checked on us a few times! Will definitely stop back again!

I've driven by Lou's Restaurant numerous times saying I'm going to stop in there one of these days. Well that's been going on for a few years and today me and Dad went. This has to be the most quaint and cozy vintage style diner in the area. A lunch counter with fresh baked pies and pastries. Soda & Beer on-tap, great coffee, trophies and old photos on the wall and home of 'Carmel's Award Winning Chili'.(I have to go back for that.) But it was breakfast time, and I opted for the special 'Eggs Louie' which was two perfectly poached eggs ontop of Canadian Bacon on a buttery english muffin covered in melted Cheddar cheese, served with hearty home fries. (see the photos) I'm glad I took the waitress' advice and got the special... It was absolutely delicious.

The service was great, our waitress refilled the coffee several times and checked in on us. Love this little restaurant and can't wait to bring the rest of the family there in the fall. If you're hungry and near Route 52 in Carmel or neighboring Kent, Stormville or East Fishkill... Skip the fast food and keep driving until you see the Lou's Small Red Restaurant... you'll be happy you did.

The signature house dish, "Eggs Louie" is perfection. Two perfectly poached eggs, atop Canadian Bacon, and served with fried red bliss potatoes. I elected to modify mine by the use of Swiss cheese, instead of cheddar. Finest egg dish to be had, anywhere.

A couple of days ago a friend brought back breakfast sandwiches from here, they were delicious! Today we came back for an eat in breakfast. Fresh pot of coffee was put on for us which tasted great. I ordered the western omelet with cheddar cheese, home fries and rye toast. Everything was delicious, better than homemade! I often ate here many years ago when I worked in Carmel when Lou ran the diner. Lou's son Gary runs the place now and was very friendly and polite. I will definitely be back again.

Lou and his staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home. I often work on weekends and get my lunch there.

What a great find! Had the Eggs Louie Breakfast special and it was excellent. The service was top notch as well. Lou is a great guy. Nice break in our long drive further upstate.

We were driving through the area on the way home from a baseball tournament. This place came up on our GPS and we figured we would give it a try. We loved it. The food was very good; the service and atmosphere was just the best. So friendly and kind, we even got a magic trick. My son said, "these are the best pancakes I ever had." Just a cute, lovely little diner. So glad we found it.

Great hidden gem off of 84! The food was absolutely spectacular and the service was amazing. Staff was incredibly kind and prompt. Food was priced fairly and portioned well. Excellent place to stop for lunch or breakfast!

All around great place

Had breakfast and lunch here. Wonderful family atmosphere with a little of that nostalgia feel. Nice people.Good food, and the coffee was really good. Fresh made each time. Gotta try Lou's egg special, and Lou's hamburger plate, just like when I was a kid.

The food was fresh, great-tasting, and served quickly. Our family had a reuben, hamburger, turkey club, and a chicken parmigiana sandwich. The service was friendly and our kids got to pick a free book on their way out. We're glad we found this great little NY diner and highly recommend it!

A Fun Breakfast/Lunch Joint

I drive by Lou's all the time and have never stopped. The outside does not shout "Come On In" I had some eggs and sausage. The food was excellent, The waitress was friendly and she kept refilling my coffee! Who could ask for more. They do only breakfast and lunch.
