South Shore Nature Center

Absolutely great place to get rid of the winter blues. Nice trails that range from beach & board walks to walking in the woods.

A peaceful and not well known getaway into nature. I went today (5/7/17) to take some photos, saw some cool frogs and a snake! Although by the time I knelt down to take photos of the creatures, I noticed that I had a few ticks on me, and by by the time I left there were another dozen or so that I found on my clothing. I still highly recommend this beautiful place but take precaution!

Went there December 2nd for the first time. Trail us well marked and level. 30-40% of the walk is on a wooden platform over marshy areas. Area is quiet and picturesque. Probably very colorful in warmer weather. We did not encounter anyone else on the trail.

The hike is mostly above the marsh on a wooden platform. It was interesting enough. On our way back we saw deer. The butterfly garden was great. And there are some picnic tables to eat lunch at. The main office wasn't open due to COVID-19, so there weren't available bathrooms.

My brother found this place he was so happy to of found it he loves nature,he couldn't wait to show me. He has passed on recently i was so glad that he got to go to such a nice place he took pictures of the deer really cool place

One of my favorite places to go for a nice little nature walk. Always nice any time of the year. Summer, stay on trails because there are some pesky ticks. Good chance you will see some deer and ospreys.

It has been a long while since my last visit. The center has not opened yet at the time of my arrival. It was a pleasing, snowy time. It’s good to have this provision for the public, nature can have a strong connection to humanity. It was up building parents brought their children when the center was opening, and a few deers were present in the background.

So awesome to see nature protected and preserved on Long Island!

Really nice park. Trail is on a boardwalk so you dont have to stomp through the mud. Good for all ages

My daughter goes to the Little Peepers Forest School and loves it!!! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained.
