Amanda Fair, the PA I had was very kind and took me seriously. She sent me to Redmond after they completed an Xray and couldn’t do an MRI at the time. Also the male nurse I had was great. He made me very comfortable and was super funny. Thank you for your hard work and kindness! ❤

I had all the classic symptoms of a heart attack and I went quickly to the emergency room where I was seen immediately and given solid compassionate medical care. I appreciated the thorough bloodwork, before being sent on by ambulance to Bend.

Of the three experiences I've had in their emergency room, this past Sunday was incredible. The 'intake' people were helpful and friendly. The nurse (Heather) I can't say enough about. She always had a smile on her face and made me feel like I was welcomed and not just another patient to work through the system and get out the door. The doctor (Angela Tye) had the best 'bed-side' manner I've ever encountered in my 60+ years. Very thorough and really listened to my concerns and symptoms. And finally the CT technician (Frances) was professional and friendly. She graciously answered my questions during the process.

It was a great crew and made my 5.5 hours bearable! Thanks to all.

ER Dr. Carter the best. His fast action
& consultation with Dr Verheyden assured I had emergency surgery very quickly. Thank you Dr Carter & everyone there👍

I'm disabled and have several chronic conditions. This makes hospital visits frequent. My ER experience (yup, more than one) have been good. When I thought I was having a heart attack I was rushed back and seen immediately. Turns out it was a separate condition that mimics a lot of the symptoms. The staff communicated with my regular doctor (Dr. Good) and everything was taken care of a couple days later when I was able to see her. A couple of the ER visits had the nurses brushing me off, talking over me, and get particularly rude when I advocate for myself. I made a point of speaking rather loudly to my husband about me leaving a review for the nurses and doctors, which made the nurses change their behavior swiftly. Advocate for yourself, be loud, do what you must if it truly is an emergency. Unless you have bones piercing your skin from a break, you won't be seen ahead of the person having a difficult time breathing or someone else who is displaying symptoms of a heart attack.

Family Medicine is a hit-or-miss. My first doctor was horrific, her name is Dr. Linda Craska I think (been a few years), and she wouldn't listen to me at all. Talked over me, said I was exagerating my conditions because one person can't possibly have so much "wrong" with them. Typical ableist rhetoric, so I switched to Dr. Good. It was like night and day. There's a reason she's the most requested. The nurses who work with her are amazing and just as attentive as she is. She's very quick with referrals, getting them sent within hours and provides all contact information if they don't call me first. Seeing her is a bit tricky because she's very popular. A wait time of several months is expected. It's why for more urgent matters I go to urgent care. It took four months before I was seen by her the first time.

Urgent Care is a hit-or-miss as well because it's just a doctor that's on staff. It's not the ER, just same-day. You walk in and wait. Some may be frustrated with the wait time, but if there are a lot of people and only three or four doctors, the wait will be longer. They don't rush their patients, but that may just be my experience. I recently had to visit a few times because of an ongoing condition. My first visit was a male doctor, and he became uncomfortable during the exam and did make me feel rushed. I think it's just a man thing seeing as a lot are uncomfortable regarding treating women. A week later I was back because what he provided wasn't helping. This time it was a female doctor and she was horrified by what he had prescribed to me. She switched things up, provided better meds that have worked, and told me to haul my butt back in there if there wasn't a noticeable improvement within 24 hours. The previous told me two weeks.

Go to Urgent Care if what you're experiencing isn't life-threatening. The clinic is open until 8pm seven days a week.

If you don't have insurance, file for bill forgiveness or financial aid through the hospital's billing department. Do so before you have a visit or immediately after. It's a lot of paperwork, but it's preferable to the stress of a ridiculously high bill. Also, demand an itemized bill. This often results in the bill going down. Why? Every for-profit hospital and clinic will nickel and dime you like a landlord. $5 for a bandaid, $40 for a single tylenol dose, etc. I have Medicare and Medicaid, which cover everything, but my husband has no insurance. He went in for an ear infection and got billed $2100, so we went to the billing department, demanded an itemized list, were told they don't do those but we insisted. We received a bill of $900 with all sorts of things likely removed. Then we applied for the financial aid. He was approved within a couple weeks and it covered a year's worth of visits.

They were very quick about having my medical information transferred from my previous hospital out-of-state. I'm moving again and hoping the next hospital I go to is just as good if not better.

If you want to get misdiagnosed, go here. Read how many reviews are from from people who've almost died thanks to that. I personally know someone who has a permanent disability thanks to a medical facility with a worse rating than the local laundry mat.

My review keeps disappearing, but I'll keep posting. St Charles kept charging my personal health care plan for a workman's comp injury. Was told I HAD to give them my personal health insurance even though it was workman's comp. They charged me so many times, that my workman's comp company filed a grievance against them and I had to conference call with billing and have my agent threaten legal action if it was done again. It happened 6 times and every time I called and told them this was against the law, I got the "oops, we made a mistake." After I heard those exact words the 5th time, I informed the billing department they are terrible at their jobs if they make this many mistakes.
I then received a letter the next day saying I will not be able to seek treatment there, as I threatened staff?
They then charged my personal insurance again after that.
All that is besides the fact they misdiagnosed me and it was the pharmacist doing their job who told me the meds they prescribed are not for what they said I had, and I would need to go back to the hospital. On my way back, the nurse must have gotten a call from the pharmacy as I got a call and she's in a panic telling me "oops, we sent in the wrong prescription"

For a medical institution, I've heard more "oops" uttered than I've heard from a room full of kindergartners.

Horrible customer care, horrible therapy department, poorly managed, poorly executed planning. My diagnosis is 3 months late because they lost my paperwork. And the doctor just left without a single plan set in place, or without telling me, what a joke. You can always expect a migraine from their poorly ran Mychart, fear not, their Mychart “specialists” are sure to mess it up further, apparently their specialists aren’t very proficient at activating or adjusting your info, sort of what I would expect from a department specifically for exactly that.. how dissapointing. save your stress and just go to bend, by the time you get to bend you might be 2nd in line on the Prineville hotline.
We all pay substantial money for these PROFESSIONALS TO DO THEIR JOB… and when they don’t bet your bottom dollar I’ll speak up. Goes to show what that college degree got you, definitely not anything useful been on hold and had time to vent, go on break, be late back to work, and still no appointment. Shame

Absolutely horrible you get to urgent care 3 hours before they close and they turn you away. You pled and beg because you are extremely sick and you end up getting ok care and you leave at 8:25 PM. I wish they would advertise that they close at 4 instead of 7. Turning people away 3 hours before you close is not acceptable.

These people are awful. I was forced to go to this hospital while under army's care. Instead of charging the army they chose me $3,000 and took me to claim which I had no way of changing and couldn't fight. This hospital is perfect example of corruption in the US healthcare system
