This is a historic hotel built in 1913. Both of the "value" room types we stayed in were very clean and comfortable, the lodge itself is warm and welcoming, staff are wonderful and other guests are cheery. There is a delicious farm to table restaurant and lounge on site. No laundry services are available, but there's a laundry 2 mins down the road. One of the nights we stayed, a beautiful pianist played in the lobby. We very much enjoyed our stay.

First off the convenience of stepping off the train and being literally across the street from your hotel is WONDERFUL! The building is historical and beautiful. You shouldn't go to a hotel built in the early 1900s and expect rooms built in 2023! The Staff was remarkably friendly and helpful - I can't say enough about them!! They had great recommendations for every question we asked. From Kate in the dining room, to Graham driving the train shuttle and all the many whose names I didn't catch - they made the experience so much more enjoyable. It was wonderful to unplug and enjoy the time together.

The other customer reviews which noted the features of the hotel were correct. Renovated Room: little to no wifi access, no air conditioning, no television, small square footage, lack modern technology.

However, though we missed the modern amenities the historic hotel made up for it in it charm and beauty. The staff were exceptional and extremely welcoming; the gift shop and restaurant were outstanding. The hotel is well maintained and we were pleased with our stay and would certainly visit again.

You may have to walk a ways to your room and there’s no elevators so keep this in mind if you are traveling with elderly or mobility challenged people. Location is great and the two restaurants are nice. Lots of free activities onsite and golfing too (fee to golf) Sometimes the line to buy coffee in the morning is lengthy, so plan accordingly.

Fabulous experience. Great coffee drinks at Triple Divide coffee shop. Portions very generous at Great Northern dining room (didn't see Benjamin Horne, alas). Hope your breakfast buffet has the delicious warmed blintz.

Visited in mid Sept while touring Glacier.
This is a step back in time that is fantastic.
The lodge is gorgeous, the grounds are very pretty.
We liked this location better the Lake McDonald.
Can't wait to go back. I won't wait anther 40 years for sure...

This is not my first time at the lodge but first time when it was closed for the season . Wanted to see it with out any people around , and yes … just as beautiful as always . Kind of fun and spooky to walk
Around the grounds in the winter .

If you're a history buff, you won't mind the dated room. We understand its age and didn't mind the slight inconvenience of no elevator or air conditioning. The place is beautiful, and we would spend a lot of time in the lobby hanging out.

This lodge is such a wonderful place to stay while exploring Glacier National Park. With a friendly staff and so much to see in and around the lodge proper. Great burgers and cocktails in the lounge (Montana mule!) The pool has been filled in and is now a horseshoe pit, so leave the bathing suit at home. The golf course is stunningly beautiful and surprisingly affordable. Just don't take beers from the golf course into the great northern dining room as the manager there has quite a temper and rather poor communication skills.

Such a beautiful historic lodge! My fiancĂ© and I only stayed here one night and we wish we could have longer. The rooms are older, have comfy beds but small bathrooms. We had a box fan in our room and opened the window at night to cool it down. It didn’t bother us to not have Wi-Fi or a tv in the room (too exhausted from hiking to care).
The breakfast buffet isn’t the best for any items that should be warm/hot but the fruit options were great. I really liked the chia seed pudding! Dinner here is excellent, very tasty burgers. The raspberry cheesecake is a must!!
We had a really nice chat with both our servers and the front desk agent. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly and hospitable!

Excellent meal in the Great Northern dining room. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful view from a window table. Got a little hesitation from the staff as they are stuck on alternating server areas with each new party. We were the second party and asked for a window table just like the first party.

Rooms are very roomy, feels like your stepping back in time in a huge wood fixture to be housed, the gift shop has great item to choose from too. The back scenic view looks 3D and calming to look out as you read or enjoy a drink.

I first, cannot say enough about the views and the atmosphere of the lodge! The atrium or central hall is spectacular and welcoming. We had dinner and drinks in the 'pub' and it was perfect. Hubs said the Manhattan was the best he's had since in Manhattan!
We were upgraded to the 1st floor bridal suite at no charge because I didn't realize there were no elevators, and I don't do stairs. It was warm outside, but the old building stayed relatively cool, and there were window box fans in our room.
We walked the gardens after dinner, going to the station to discover a display about our Grandfather Arie DeRooy and Uncle Tony DeRooy's contributions to the landscaping of the lodges and stations throughout Glacier and what used to be the Great Northern Train lines.
There is little to no wi-fi connection, little cell reception and no televisions..... but with this scenery and ambience, get off the wheel, slow down and enjoy the world around you.
We'll be back, but hopefully to Lake McDonald next!

We enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Great Northern restaurant. Mads showed us to our table and made some fantastic recommendations. We decided on the Bison Bolognese and the pot roast. Both we delicious and big portions. Our server Chris was very attentive and treated us like family. And to top it all off, Luke checked in on us to make sure we enjoyed everything and even gave us some good recommendations for local hikes. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

This place is not for everyone, but I consider it a gem. We had a room in the original lodge, and it was definitely rustic. No A/C, very few sockets for electric devices, no lamps on side tables, bathroom was very small and toilet and sink may have been the 1913 originals! Also, no elevator to 3rd floor, though they do have a bellman if you need help carrying bags up the stairs. All of our interactions with the staff were outstanding. The lobby is stunningly classic "lodge" with huge pine tree trunks as the support columns. Nice outdoor sitting area overlooks the mountains. Dinner in the hotel dining room was excellent.

An incredible place to stay. The scenery is beautiful and it's the perfect place to relax and get away from it all.

I was there during the summer heatwave last year, and the rooms are not outfitted with air-conditioning, and the building seemed to have only one ice machine. It was the hardest working ice machine around too.

The room and bathroom were small, but they opened up to a nice shared balcony.

It's worth it to experience at least once!

100+year old hotel with breathtaking views of the mountains. Great breakfast buffet too. En-suite bathroom was rather small but had all you needed and the shower was excellent with great smelling toiletries provided. Great bar with a good selection of beers and some imaginative cocktails. You must try the huckleberry lemonade.

A real old-fashioned National Park Lodge. Pricey, but very nice. Right across the meadow from East Glacier Park Amtrak Railroad Station. If you're arriving on #7/#27 The Empire Builder, then this is where you stay.

Ate at the restaurant with great food and great service. So happy they were open at 9pm when we arrived in town and the pot roast was great!

Came back for coffee the next morning (we were staying at a hostel nearby) and was happily surprised!

Lots of fun history in the lobby too!

This fabulous building was built in the 50s, using 600+ year-old massive trees from Oregon. The lodge has multiple dining areas, gift shops, and the sweetest people serving as guides, etc. The rooms are not your regular hotel style; they’re large with small bathrooms. The WiFi was a bit sketchy at times but we weren’t there to browse the internet. Great place to stay!
