Excellent place to begin to find a lawyer to handle your SPECIFIC problem at a low cost.
For just $35.00 you get to discuss your legal problem with a lawyer who specifically deals those types of legal issues. If you need more help, you are free to choose to retain the consulting lawyer or look for another but the consultation will help point you in the right direction for that.
This program is operated by the Virginia State Bar and is far more objective than other so-called lawyer referral services.

This was the best decision I made, reaching out to Virginia Lawyer Referral Service. I made more progress with the lawyer they suggested, than any other lawyer I found on my own. In my first consultation, I left feeling very confident and happy. The lawyer was very knowledgeable, patient and kind. I appreciate both, vlrs and the law firm they suggested to me.

Very satisifed with the Virginia Lawyer Referral Service. I called seeking a consultation with a leasing lawyer, and the woman I spoke with was very cordial and helpful. She offered to research a lawyer for me and call me back, I received a call back later that day with a lawyer recommendation. Luckily my situation resolved itself by the time I had my consultation, but I will definitely be using this service again if I ever need a lawyer recommendation.

The Virginia Lawyer Referral Service was able to match me up with a Lawyer that had expertise in a situation that I needed legal advice on for a minimal fee. The consultation with the lawyer was very easy to setup and I was able to get the information I needed very quickly. I’m not in a position to hire a lawyer right now, and I shouldn’t need one as I did no wrong, but wanted to speak with someone for legal advice on how to handle a situation. This referral service was able to put me in contact with a great attorney who was very helpful and informative. Setting the appointment was easy and you can’t beat the cost. I'm glad this service exists. It doesn't always have a lawyer for your specific issue, but for dealing with the most important issues that are tied to your wellbeing they can usually place you with someone. I had a great experience.

It was super easy to use the site and to set up for the interview with the service. I had my consultation with the selected lawyer within two days. Excellent service and you can't beat the price. For my situation, at least, the Virginia Lawyer Referral Service did not allow me to select the attorney; they the attorney for me.

That worked out fine, though, as the attorney was excellent and referred a law firm that could handle the issue we're experiencing.

This service is invaluable to me since it takes too long to get an in office appointment and it costs too much for a consultation. Dependable advice found with this service. Response is always prompt and time is always well spent when I bring specific questions. Excellent!

This service is fantastic, I have used it numerous times during the last 20 years and wish more people knew about it, especially those of modest means. I applaud the attorneys who offer consultations through the service and are willing to do so by phone. I am currently living in the upper Midwest and could not possibly have conducted my business in person. Ms. Williams was very knowledgeable in a very specific area of the law dealing with the State Department Foreign Service and I highly recommend her.

I had a lot of trepidation going into this because--with the exception of my divorce--I had never required the service of a lawyer, and I knew I couldn't retain one. I just needed to really understand my situation and what to expect (unemployment hearing). As I had been turned down by every other free legal service in Northern Virginia (which is an entire other issue), the referral service was my last hope, and I'll admit my spirits sank when I was on the phone with them. I was informed that NO lawyer in my area was taking on VEC cases because there were so many, but that there was one in Richmond. Fortunately, the woman I spoke with at VLRS answered every question I had, including all of my "how does this work?" inquiries with patience and kindness. I also had a wonderful consultation with a wonderful lawyer the following week.

Two things I will say is that you must make it very clear at the beginning and throughout your scheduling with your lawyer, what your intentions are. I told mine from the get that I couldn't afford to hire him so our conversation would be informational, and he was so helpful. Also, definitely prepare for your consultation by writing down questions. I asked Scott to take me through what would happen during the hearing and from that, I had even more questions. I also had a friend on the call with us, so she could prompt me or ask something I didn't think to, so consider that, too, if the thought of talking to a lawyer is too intimidating. Of course, ask first, if it's OK.

I would definitely recommend this service as you aren't required to have anything super techy to get connected, it's all "old-fashioned" phone calls. You can also get another referral if your initial referral is unable to make a consultation happen with you without having to pay the fee again.

I had no idea where to begin to find a lawyer. The first one I tried turned out to be someone who did not practice in my area. However, they referred me to the Virginia Lawyer Referral Service where I was able to get the names of attorneys handling the kind of matters with which I was concerned. I chose one and called the number. I also looked him up on Google and discovered he was very highly rated by his clients. This gave me confidence in this service, as well as in the attorney. So far so good.

The VLRS was very helpful in connecting me with a lawyer in Virginia. My problem concerned the Virginia Taxation Department and I no longer live in Virginia, so I didn’t know who to contact. I was connected to an attorney in Virginia who was very helpful and gave me the information I needed. I would not hesitate to recommend this service to anyone needing a competent attorney in Virginia.

Make sure to be descriptive when you request a lawyer so the service can best place you with an experienced lawyer who can truly help! And be prepared when you meet with the lawyer so you can get the most out of your time :)

The service was invaluable. I at first got a lawyer who was not suitable and only interested in a retainer fee. When I mentioned this to the Service they insisted that they refer me to another lawyer free of charge. The second lawyer was excellent and very caring and concerned about costs. Couldn't have found him without their help.
