Thrifty Car Rental - Miami International Airport

Saw some sketchy reviews but Thrifty was far and away the least expensive option at Miami Airport so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Check in was seamless and the agent was courteous, I declined all the extras like additional insurance, tolls,etc.. and there were no problems. I got what was essentially a brand new Toyota corolla, very clean. Return was also seamless and the bill was correct. Navigating to avoid tolls is not difficult and saved me a lot . Would highly recommend .

Wanted to say thank you to the young man who assisted me with the car assignment.
I had a day out of this world.. the amtrak was canceled due to the weather. The charter bus that picked us up took over 5 hrs to get to Chicago. I took a cold walk to blue line train to get to the airport. The first train I got on had mechanical problems and had to get off and get another one. Got to the airport with less than an hour for the flight to leave. Both my bags had to be opened and checked. At this point I had less than 5 minutes to get to the gate. Did the mad dash to the gate and made it thank God. Waited in the plane for almost 2 hrs delay due to mechanical problems. Finally made it to Miami picking up the rental. I said all of this to give insight on my day and the impact that was made.
I believe he saw it printed all over my face. I am thankful for his kind words and he really made my day. Great customer service makes a huge difference. He was in the car lot area glass office. dark skin, neatly dressed well mannered. I was so overwhelmed with gratitude I did not get his name. If there if there is any award to give I hope he would be selected. It is well deserved. God bless!!!

We had a super experience. The line was not that long, our booking got retrieved quickly using our reservation and the vehicle was ready. The vehicle was clean and a very good deal (size and type) in comparison to other competitors offerings. We booked via Expedia and will most definitely use them again when traveling. Highly recommended and thank you for the great service.

Wayne Thomas was extremely helpful and made my overall experience with thrifty, amazing! Where many others would’ve turned me away, Wayne went above and beyond to ensure I had a great customer experience. I’ve rent cars often and this was by far my best customer service experience.

Car drop off located at MIA car rental center at the 2nd floor where you can find Thrifty/Dollar shared office. Leave keys inside the car outside working hours. Working hours are 5 Am - 1 Am.
There is train from the drop off location that takes you to the Airport terminals.
If tolls are not paid, there are two options. Either to let them charge you the toll fee plus 10$ service fee per toll, or a lump sum 57$ to drive on all toll routes.

Honestly I was ready for a hard time…but there was none we walked from the main terminal to the pick up counter (a long walk) we waited in a short line and were helped. We opted to purchase EZ pass for tolls (you will want this as tolls are everywhere in Miami, it’s worth it) and I purchased the extra insurance because I wasn’t familiar with Miami and driving can be hectic. It was an easy check in we picked between 2 car choices make sure to take pics before driving away. I kept car for 4 days and return was just as easy. Would recommend and use again.

My husband and I just returned from a 10 day road trip from Miami to Key West. Having a quick and satisfactory experience renting a car from Thrifty at MIA really set the tone for Day 1. I don't know if it was the day of the week (Thursday) or the time of day (9:30 am) but the wait was not bad at all. The customer service rep informed me (FYI: right now, it is asked that only one member of the traveling party queues up) of our add-on options, but except for the Sunpass, we declined them all. I didn't feel pressured. Maybe, some people would have; I've rented cars many times and had not the tiniest bit of anxiety about extra coverage. Picking up our car and making our way out took no time at all. There is clear signage directing renters and there were plenty of cars from which to choose. Before we left, we took pictures of the minor dings and scratches, and my husband mentioned his concern about being blamed for them later, but the garage attendent assured us that it was expected that a rental car with a few years on it would have dings. That was reassuring but having the pictures was too. We had no mechanical issues with our car. The return was fast and easy. As for the final bill, the charged amount was greater than the initial amount, BUT we expected it to be since the initial on-line reservation did not include the daily Sunpass charges we opted for at the airport check-in counter or the tolls we incurred during our trip.

I wish my 5 star rating could mitigate the impact of so many 1 and 2 star ratings written by irate customers who, if they were better informed ahead of time, would have had a smoother experience. That's not to say there aren't legitimate complaints here, but please consider disregarding those who are accusing the rental company of being shady or flat out dishonest when the actual problem was the customer didn't educate themselves on Thrifty's policies. The policies are not hidden, and they're not, by far, specific to Thrifty. For example, the extra cost of a driver under 25. That provision, like me, is as old as dirt. Another example is the difference between trying to book and pay with a debit card or pre-paid credit card. Admittedly, it's a painful kick in the rear when you don't know ahead of time how to navigate that situation, but to the experienced (or informed) customer, it's not a surprise. Again, I'm not saying all the low-star reviews are unearned. I'm just saying, I feel bad for the customers who walked away from the experience feeling cheated by a the rental company when, if they had done just a little reading, they would have had different expectations and a more positive experience.

Martin is the Gm I think but those two hold a different level of integrity and I’m very appreciative to both assisting us when we weren’t happy.

My experience with thifty car rental was really nice.

We had rented a vehicle (Chevrolet Camaro convertible or similar..), and as we arrived at the airport we found out the rental place was moved to dollar, which wasn't a problem since there weren't that much people. After going through all the paperwork and stuff we go to the fleet place and the worker allowed us to choose between a Camaro and a Mustang, which was really nice having a choice! The car was OK, a tiny bit dirty but it was almost new and it was a 2022. No troubles getting the car back at all.

Great experience with Thrifty. Midsized SUV held 7 big bags, smooth ride, picked up Orlando dropped off Miami. Easy return, bought a full tank of gas and turned it in on E.

The employees at dollar rent a car are very caring and provided excellent customer service. After dropping off our first rental, we went on a week cruise at the Miami port. We realized once we entered the ship that we had accidental kept the keyless remote in our pocket. We immediately called and informed them we had the key. They said that it was okay and we could return the key when we arrived back in Miami. When we arrived back at dollar to pick up a new rental, we returned the key to the car we previously rented. They employees were very kind and did not charge us anything for accidentally taking the key. They rates are very reasonable and the cars were is great shape. For both rentals we rented compact cars. The only thing I recommend is to make sure you fill up before you return it because at the time they charge a steep $9.99 a gallon for gas and service charge.

Very fast and helpful service. Easy to find at Miami international airport. Employee was nice and responsive. I rented a 2020 ford mustang it was very clean and in great shape. Performance of this car is out of this world ( I'm looking to purchase one after this trip ) I would definitely consider renting from thrifty again. Thankyou for the amazing service!

I reserved a minivan and the rate online was great. When i got to the counter, the price they told me was almost $100 more. within 3 minutes the problem was resolved and I was on my way. No complaints. I recommend getting the gas upfront option as it's easier.

Needed a rental for my company employees and I to travel to Orlando and tried Thrifty FLL. The manager, David, accommodated my needs with a great personality and made this rental a great pleasure! I’d recommend this location to everyone! Much better service than the rest!

One can easily see the efficiency, sharp-mindedness and dedication to the customer in the work of the manager on site. The work of her employees falls inline with her excellence. Thank you for the great experience renting a car from a team that cares and knows.

Joaquin is the kindest man and Angela was a terrific help at the booking desk! When we arrived to pick up our reservation our convertible hadn't yet arrived. Joaquin was able to resolve our problem with grace and warmth. Thank you for helping our vacation get off to a wonderful start!

The gentlemen at the ticket counter was very knowledgeable about the local area and directed me to my destination in a way to avoid toll roads since there is a $10 fee per day to rent a Sunpass and toll booths do not accept cash! I also rented a "mystery car" and was so disappointed to find it was a minivan but the service attendant understood that the last thing I wanted was my mommy car and kindly switched my vehicle.

Whenever my husband and I travel we rent from Thrifty. We booked online and once we arrived to pick up the car, everything went smoothly. The Miami airport location can get really busy on the weekend however the staff was still professional and courteous. The entire process was a breeze and we will definitely use them again.

Thrifty went above my expectations. I received a great for my trip. And the lady who waited on me, customer service was superb.
