In an historic downtown that has many big beautiful trees this one still stands out. Having lived in Japan I love that they have the supports for the big sprawling limbs. It really is worth walking a few blocks out of the way if you're in the area.

Almost 340-year-old tree! Not every day you get to see something that cool! Was around during the signing of the Constitution! Awesome piece of history preserved!

The Big Oak was definitely a memorable experience. When I say his name fits him perfectly. He is The Big Oak!! He sits perfectly on the corner and is so beautiful. Definitely can tell his age due to all the chains and bars holding him up and the limbs are amazing. My children loved visiting him this weekend. Definitely will be back.

I'm glad it's doing its thing with the help of the community. Go say hi! It's bark is worse than its bite!

A must stop for anyone visiting the charming city of Thomasville, Georgia. 68 feet high, a limb span of 165 feet, and a trunk circumference of more than 26 feet, this beautiful tree stands on 2/3 acres.

Such a beautiful tree! The story of the tree is that it was already planted and growing when the Constitution was signed. How amazing is that! You get to stand next to something that was alive and well when our United States Constitution was drafted and signed. Amazing!
There is the sign in front of the tree that gives you all the basic information about the tree itself. And if you look on the back of that sign, there are instructions on where to stand and then dial the number on your phone and get your picture taken from the top of the telephone pole catty-cornered across the street. And it's free! Very cool!
Just be very careful if you take a high profile vehicle there, like a motor home. Check it out on Google maps in satellite mode first before you do it. I got through there with my Super C, but I had to dodge a couple of branches and had to turn back on one street because it had a clearance of 9'6". You can park half a block away and be fine. But so worth it!
Happy trails!

This tree was approximately 175 years old when Abraham Lincoln was president. Our kids thought that was super cool. It's a short walk from the library, and worth seeing if you're passing through.

This tree is awe inspiring. The size of it cannot be imagined by the pictures. You have to walk under it. See the moss and sun breaking through the branches. Look at the base as it stretches out with such heavy limbs that they either brace them with poles and rods or the rest on the ground. This tree is from 1680. It has seen so much. Experienced so much growth in human kind, and it outlasts is as long as we protect it.

GORGEOUS!!!!!!! Just majestic and lovely! Once there, on the back of the sign, there is a phone number to call... follow the prompts and your picture is taken in front of the Big Oak via a camera on top of a utility pole. You can then download your picture from a website. it's so awesome!

Enormous and impressive Old Maple tree! Amazing to see moss grow all over the branches and then little ferns on top of that. If trees could talk ... the stories we could learn.
