Midway Museum

Saw the sign while riding my road trip on us hwy 17 north. It was very educational and interesting. My guide was superb and she recite history and facts like an audio book. I learned some trivia and saw a lot of fabulous pieces. No you cannot take pictures so please be obliging. It took just over an hour. Well worth the stop. They have a bookstore also.

Amazing historical tour of this home! Kitty was our tour guide and one if the most knowledgeable guides we've had since our visit to the Savannah area. Actually, Kitty gave such a fantastic tour, the best out of 7 homes we've toured through Savannah. She encouraged questions and was able to answer questions on every piece asked about in the home. Our tour was about 2 hours! Phenomenal! The home had beautiful artifacts and they took care to provide seating for guests to relax during the tour. My husband is the true history buff and he was able to chime in with questions and I enjoyed everything that was shared! If you want to learn some great history and see a fantastic home, you must visit the Midway Museum! The other 2 ladies that toured with us were awesome! They were part of the historical society and added some great info too! Enjoyed their company as well! They are a non-profit, so any help is appreciated by this place.

I hardly ever write reviews but I needed to this time. Wow….what an awesome tour given by Midge! She was thorough, didn’t make us feel rushed and had a few surprise historical notables under her sleeve!!! If you enjoy history, this is a must!

My sister snd I were there at 3pm on Sept 12, 2022 it was the most informative tour we gave ever been on. The curator has an immense knowledge of everything and should be commended. Every room, every article was phenominal in explanation. She told us more in 1 hour than I could ever remember or recall. Totally blown away. I highly recommend visiting g this fantastic museum. Loved this tour! Our tour guide,Midge was so sweet. Her knowledge and passion for the history of this area of Georgia placed you back in time. I'm a senior citizen and still there were so many things I learned about the establishing our United States and the people so brave to endure and fight for it. Then the Civil War and yellow fever.

Highly recommended place..
Looks like a small place from outside but when you step in is like being in a time capsule.
So much to see and appreciate, the place is neatly preserved and all the displays are in great shape.
Kitty guided us on the tour and she is like a walking source of knowledge, explaining and showing us all the artifacts in the museum.
I wish photography was allowed to document or keep record of so many important and historic items of the era and area, from sword, arms and weapons,uniforms, book and record keeping, flags, furniture, musical pieces, toys.
Great library and book shop.
If you are in the area you have to visit this gem of a place and the admission price is less than one of those ridiculously overpriced and overrated coffee drinks from Starbucks.
This place is great even without the possibility of visiting the cemetery or the church....
Stop by..... you will be happy you did

Absolutely taken away by the Midway Museum and Docent Kitty. Both Georgia's only colonial museum and she help unfold it's unique place in Georgia and American history. You will be blown away. Don't miss it!

This is a must stop for history buffs! Our tour guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit today! The tour of the house was very nice and the histories of the families who settled here was very interesting! 5Stars! Thank you to our tour guide for doing such a great job!!

This stop is a must for history buffs. This is Georgia's only museum devoted to the Colonial history. The museum features a world class research library that you can request access to. They have just introduced a children's tour led by one of their docents. It was great and our children loved getting to learn about the rich heritage and history the Midway area has as a result of it's ties to America's fight for liberty.

Great museum - very knowledgeable museum guide.

Took a tour of the Museum in late July 2019. I found the history filled narrative was more than worth the minimal fee. I purchased a book on existing and am truly enjoying the stories of this portion of Georgia running up to the Civil War.

Nice little house museum. They have a one of a kind Confederate uniform jacket, staff is super friendly. It won't take long to make your way through the building. Nextdoor is a historic church and across the street a historic cemetery.

Absolutely loved the historian she was everything you hoped to get in some one telling you some one else's story !! She spoke clearly and never minded repeating herself , actually think she enjoyed being asked , ". What was that now ?" If history peaks your feelers and you have about an hour of your time to give to the wonderful women who puts so much of her time into this beautiful home and the stories it has saved for us you won't regret it !!!

Beautiful experience! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant. The museum is a must see if you are in the Liberty County area.

Mrs.Kitty was very knowledgeable about the history and all of the objects in the museum. Everything was set up beautifully and we left with a much greater understanding of the history near home!

History comes alive from the Colonial period and General Oglethorpe, the Revolution, the War of 1812 through the War Between the States. Extrodinary collection with friendly and knowledgeable guides. History matters! Come visit.

The History just over takes you. The way it is told by Mrs. Kitty, you actually feel apart of that time-line.
