Dr. Shawn X. Mei, MD

I am relatively new patient on my second month. I have to say so far I really like this doctor. He comes into the room and talks to you, he doesn't just hand the prescriptions off and move on. He asks questions and listens to the answers. He treated me with respect. Since I am a new patient for him I understand how things can change, I had a very bad experience with my last doctor. I will revisit this review later. I have been under pain management care in multiple states (at different times) for over 15 years. All I am asking for is a decent livable quality of life, not a miracle. I think once you accept that, you have a better relationship with your doctor.
The staff here have been very nice and respectful. They do not talk down to you like some other places. The two nurses I have met have been fantastic. The front desk has always been cordial. The person who calls to remind me of my appointment was sweet. All and all I have hope again and that is the greatest gift of all.
I can only pray they continue with this path. I will continue to do what I must. Follow the rules. Not expect miracles. I'll be back in a few more months to review. Blessings everyone.

This dr takes pain pill addiction more seriously than most, which was VERY welcome since the care was for someone I love and my concerns of already-existent addiction issues being continued against what needed to be done. From the first visit he said the plan was to eliminate the opiates, and I am in 100% agreement. If you're looking for a stooge doctor to hand you these sorts of drugs, that's not what's going to happen. Pain pills are nothing to play with, though, and addiction impacts a family & not just a patient. I'm glad to see a dr flat out say NO and seek other remedies.

I used to go to Dr Mei before I moved to Tennessee, it is my experience that most people that complain about Dr Mei are people that are abusing their medication and Dr Mei is not going to allow that. He is one of the most professional and knowledgeable Dr’s that I have had the pleasure to be associated with. If you can’t get along with Dr Mei then you can’t get along with any Doctor. If you are going to abuse your medication DON’T go there . Go somewhere else and do him a favor.

I have been with Dr Mei for about 6 yrs. I love all the staff & Dr Mei. I just can't take all the waiting!!!! Maybe someone there can figure out a better way to move things along...then I'll give 5+ stars

Excellent pain management doctor. Very knowledgeable.Most comfortable procedures such as injections.In hospital and in office as out patient treatments. I would recommend Dr.Mei and his clinic to any friend or relative.

Dr. Mei is wonder, very knowledgeable. He may be a little strict in regards to medication but thats because he knows the consequences of those that would abuse them.

Dr. Mei & his Staff are 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟's & second to None !!!

Dr. Mei has always listened to what issues I am having and works with me to resolve them.

Dr Mei is great. He seems to really care about his patients. That being said, the office is very inefficient. Plan on blocking out about 3 hours for an appt including the telemedicine appts. I’ve waited as long as 2 hours just to be taken back.

UPDATE 12/1/23 The office is so much more efficient and the wait times have improved so much!

good doctor, but expect to wait two hours per visit before you see him every time you go.

Simply put, Dr. Mei does not listen to patients and has zero compassion. He has an egotistical, very controlling demeanor that is condescending and demeaning, especially to senior citizen patients. Do not initial or sign his contract without reading it entirely; I'm quite sure he's pushing the boundaries of what is entirely legal. He will most assuredly protect himself and his God complex before thinking of you, the patient. Run do not walk to another doctor that will show you their kindness and compassion. Last but not least, being kept there for FOUR hours in an attempt to see and understand him is not acceptable. Don't even attempt to talk or ask him questions, you are irrelevant.

Horrible! you sit in his lobby for hours, office is dirty and needs cleaning. I fired him yesterday on my second appointment. Going somewhere else where they value my time and give a better customer experience.

I was fired from Dr Mei because my surgeon wrote me pain meds. I tried to call his office a few times to get him to adjust my medicine but no answer and no call back. This is not the first time this has happened to me. It's also happened to family members. So I went back to my surgeon and had him write my meds and had them filled because I was in a lot of pain. On my next visit to Dr. Mei, I was let go from his practice after seeing him for several years. I was accused of being an alcoholic, and he also yelled at me to the point that he made my wife cry. Unacceptable.

My husband went here. it was awful. first started because he had neck surgery then back surgery. then he had cancer and he made him come in straight from the hospital to get his meds. and he did not up his dose of meds for a few days after having his neck cut open and cancer took out. The place would get to him mentally. the doctor would tell him one thing then another. it got to where i would go to every appointment with him because neither of us trusted him. and after his surgery to sit for 5 hours in his office was uncalled for. to the point i tried to tell my husband this is patient abuse. was glad to get away from him.
keep your loved ones safe. stay away. and if it was up to me, i would hit him with patient abuse.
