I came to Dr. Gomes as a perimenopausal woman leading a relatively healthy lifestyle looking for some thorough hormone testing and was frustrated that all my old tricks to maintain my weight were no longer working for me. Dr. Gomes encouraged me to take a giant step back and check off a few other markers like micronutrient and food sensitivity testing first. That testing revealed a couple of deficiencies we rectified with supplements and several food sensitivities that I now stay away from. What a huge difference in energy, mood, bloating and just general overall health those small changes made. After we achieved a good baseline, we moved to hormone testing and actually looked at the data from spit, blood and urine tests to determine the best approach for me. He took the time to explain all of the data in terms I could understand and sent me home with notes on those test results I could read over again.

But I would say the absolute best thing about Optimal Health & Wellness is how they are redefining what going to the doctor looks like. Making it the norm to treat not just the body but the mind as well. Every appointment feels like a casual talk with a friend, not a hurried assembly line. The atmosphere is relaxing (and smells heavenly), creating a safe environment to open up about all aspects of your life, because it's all connected. I caught myself apologizing for "rambling", only to have Dr. Gomes say, "If it is causing you stress, we need to talk about it."

I truly can't say enough good things about Dr. Gomes and his team. They are dedicated to healing, teaching and caring. I'm not sure where that was lost in medicine today but I'm so glad Optimal Health & Wellness is bringing it back!

Dr. Johnny, Sue and the team at Optimal Health and Wellness are beyond one of the best decisions you could make to better your health. If you are suffering and have been to countless doctors seeking answers and being told everything is ”normal” but you know something is going on, then you must talk to and get evaluated by Dr. Johnny & Team.

My experience: In 2015, I had to have an emergency partial hysterectomy which left me depressed, unmotivated, manic, and completely defeated. I was not myself at all and was so sad all the time. Everything was overwhelming and I could not function from day to day. As a woman, it is common for people to assume that we should “just get over it and move on” or “there is nothing wrong with you, it’s just your hormones” but then do nothing to help, aside from prescribing the latest and greatest crazy pill on the market, I was not having it and definitely not satisfied with the care provided.

In comes Optimal Health: it’s like the fog was lifted and I could hear the birds singing again. Dr Johnny took the time to review my symptoms by having in depth conversations, ordering the right labs/ tests, doing a ton of analysis in looking at all the numbers to come up with options. He took the time to explain everything and gave me not only a path forward, but the biggest thing he gave me was hope, the hope I had lost along with my uterus:) Dr Johnny gets it, he understood I did not want to be on prescription meds for something that we could completely control with the right supplement program, diet and in my case, the right hormone replacement therapy.

I cannot say enough about this team, they are just absolutely amazing! They put the “health” back in healthcare!

I came to Optimal Health and Wellness as a last resort. My former doctor, whom I still think the world of, just didn't have time to look at my numbers and really individualize my plan of care. Everything was so cookie-cutter other than five minutes of general chit-chat. I knew something wasn't right because of how I was feeling. After reviewing old blood work with Dr. Gomes and having some new labs done, he found out the issues that were there. What he did next was more amazing. He took an hour and a half to explain to me the "why" of what was wrong and the "how" to fix it. A lot of the "how" is in following the dietary changes he recommends, food really is medicine. I am feeling better and have switched to Optimal Health for my future care. If you are looking for pills and quick "solutions" this isn't your place, but if you want to change your life and reverse your course, Dr Gomes is your person.

I highly recommend Dr. Gomes and his staff. Everything about the experience of being a patient here is so opposite from going to a conventional medical office. The office is a soothing place, not a tiny room with no windows and fluorescent lights. You sit in a comfortable chair and talk with the doctor for as long as it takes to go over test results and action plans, even if that takes an hour.

If I have questions or a new illness arises between appointments, I can just message Dr Gomes and he responds right away. Imagine trying that with a typical doctor! In the past I asked doctors for specific tests and was denied for one reason or another, but Dr Gomes will happily work with you to order the appropriate tests and interpret the results. Even if it takes some time, the answers will come.

If you are a person who has been to multiple doctors and have been told they can't find anything wrong with you, or all your tests look good, and yet you are still dealing with symptoms that you know are not normal, this is the place for you.

I came to Dr Gomes for Hormone therapy.. then we went to the root cause of other things.. I never thought that I/we would be taking charge of my health. Best move I've made.. I'm looking forward for more awesome Health and Wellness. Dr Gomes and staff are awesome and it's always a pleasure coming to the Dr. 😊

Since I started my visits and treatments with Optimal over a year ago my whole life has changed Im more energized look and feel 100% better my sugars are with in range where im feeling good about it. The staff is number 1 and Dr. Gomez is straight up tell you how it is and he means it. HIGHY RECOMMEND THEM THEY WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE BE READY TO COMMIT TO CHANGE THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE TOOLS BUT YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR PART.

Love Dr Gomes and all of the staff! It's so nice to have a doctor actually listen, take me seriously and look at root causes. (also, Micah is the best at blood draws! so gentle and sweet!)
