Great private fishing pier in Kill Devil Hills. Free parking lot, restrooms with flush toilets, gaming arcade, bar with good selection of brews on tap (no ciders though). Limited menu cooked on site. I had corn dog bites and fry basket. Fries are seasoned and salty, like the ocean! A variety of seating options, inside and out. Dog friendly! Good supply of bait and tackle for purchase and some fishing gear for rent as well. Pier fishing for the day is $17.50 & $2 for walk-on.

This old pier added an entire vibe to the experience. It fits the location perfectly it’s creaking boards and waves walk seems intimidating at first but once you’re out there pole in hand and bait in the water it’s something you can appreciate as authentic. I loved every moment we all did!

Went to OBX for Thanksgiving 2023 and visited Avalon Pier after eating out. Looking for somewhere to walk off our Thanksgiving meal. Super cool hole in the wall place. Guy behind register let us walk out to the pier for free even though there was a $2 fee. Old pier, creeky and moves with the tide. It was very relaxing at night.

Cool spot with an arcade and cool prizes. Getting into the entrance building was free but it was $2 per person to walk the pier. Not bad considering the view! Would 10/10 go again.

We bought a fish plaque when we strew the ashes of our beautiful granddaughter, Finn. She was a beautiful baby that was born asleep. Today would have been her 6th birthday. We all threw pink petals from a rose bush that was planted in her honor.

I came from Washington State to visit some family. My brother and I enjoyed the time there very much. The staff, the people on the dock, and random people were so amazing and helpful.

The food is decent and the games are fun, but taping off two of the three pinball machines is bad business.

The pier is definitely seen its weather but is still a good place to take kids especially with the arcade. We only managed to catch a few small fish but still had fun fishing. Staff was really friendly when we first went and when we returned the same night. Didn't do the bar but looked kind of fun.

Off-season Sunday night with kids = Excellent, mostly because of JOE's hospitality. Unfortunately we didn't see that all 3 pinball machines were working until we left, but the Guitar Hero, Ski ball (2 out of 3 machines working), and air hockey were awesome. Thank you Joe!

Third year visiting and a must-see every time. Admission to the pier is $2 per person. There is a bar, food, and an archade. The views are breathtaking, and the beach is lovely. Pay to park on site. Fishing, beach access, fun for the whole family.

Must visit. 17 and under just $6. For all day. Came in the morning fished a few hours, then left for lunch and sight seeing. Came back in the evening and fished till closing. There's a small arcade for the youngins and a bar for the adults.

It was a great experience while visiting the Outer Banks. The cost was very reasonable for everything we needed to fish. We caught 9 fish in just a few hours.

The staff at the pier are extremely friendly and treat you like you've been a regular for years.

The selection of pinball machines is also nice.

Such a stunning view from the pier! We visited the pier during the day, before sunset and later in the evening. All 3 visits were great! There was ive music at night outside. Though it was hot, there was a strong breeze on the pier. See hair for proof

This pier is as laid back as they come. Milepost 6 is home to this locals favorite. Arcade games available to play. Beer and drinks available for purchase. Plenty of space to fish if you arrive early enough. Paid parking unless your fishing, and it's included. Public beach access nearby for free parking. Awful Arthur's across the street for delicious local seafood. The Oysters are delicious!

Avalon Pier is the perfect place to catch some huge fish off the pier, catch a beautiful sunrise, have drinks and snacks in the upstairs bar and deck area, and put your feet in the sand and cool off in the water. Later in the night they have great live music! Check them out!

Took my son for his bday to do a little fishing. Not knowing the first thing about fishing and the rods and the bait I was a bit intimidated but the gentleman working the desk was a tremendous help. Happy we came here and caught some fish as well!
