Goombays Grille & Raw Bar

Goombays Grille and Raw Bar was absolutely amazing. The food was on point, wait staff had their act together, and the entire atmosphere was so inviting. The table we sat at had vintage Washington Redskins tickets embedded in. The appetizer sampler was awesome, coconut shrimp with mango sauce was excellent, the jalapeño crabcake was spicy but flavorful, and the rocket rice shrimp was...... Weird but delicious. Wife had the crab cake dinner which was delicious and I had the Cabaret Shrimp which was also delicious. If you are a local or vacationing and you haven't tried this place, I strongly recommend it.

We arrived on a rainy Wednesday to a madhouse of a restaurant but don’t let that info deter you from eating here! It was delicious. We were lucky enough to score 3 seats at the bar. The bartender was a bit overwhelmed because the place was mobbed but she still was super pleasant and very helpful. Overall the food was delicious. On a big calamari kick and theirs did not disappoint. Will be back!

We had a great lunch here. The food is excellent and service was friendly. Our group had crab legs, fish tacos, burger, steak sub, pasta, and gator tail. Goombay smash drink was amazing too.

Crab legs were delicious! I also recommend the steamed shrimp.My husband and I and our 10 year old son ate there twice while on our weekend trip and our waitress both times was Ms. April and she was fabulous both times! Definitely will be back!

I had the occasion for a bit of a celebration and had eaten here before. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly and it's a family place with a bar separate from the dining area. They have a cool mural, and it's casual atmosphere was most welcoming.
I had the roasted pepper and crab soup, alegator bites, portobello mushroom stuffed with crab meat over a fresh salad, steamed snow crab legs, and steamed veggie platter. I said I was celebrating, and I took half of everything but the soup home. Everything was really good, but that soup...man it was fantastic!

We love the food at Goombay's.

My favorites are the Hatteras Clam Chowder and the Tuna Tacos!
The Portobello Burger is fantastic.
The Rasta Pasta with shrimp or chicken is super delicious.
The servers are friendly and check-in often.

Absolutely delicious! Service was fantastic. Food was really fresh. Oysters were clean, as were the clams! No sand at all. Cocktail sauce is unique and tasty! Garlic cream shrimp and crabcake dinner was yummy. Crab cakes are huge with tons of crab! Blackberry cheesecake was to die for! Highly recommend!!!!

It was quite busy and loud, even toward kitchen closing. We waited to be seated around 9:30pm

The bar was lively with plenty of people, + the dining room was full, but our server was very attentive and friendly

The food here is always excellent. My only complaint, ever, is that the fries are coated. Please, for the love of all things spud, let the potatoes and the oil shine through on their own! Those two ingredients alone, fried to pillowy, crispy perfection, are glorious! (Well, I guess we shouldn't leave out the salt, so... three ingredients.)

So I don't care for anyone's coated fries, but especially here with the rest of their food being so carefully crafted. Otherwise, this place has always been our favorite in OBX, for nearly 30 years now! The ownership has been consistently excellent. The service is so friendly. The interior is fun and welcoming.

There is a small bar off the entry and dining area; the bartenders make great mixed drinks with daily specials. Food-wise, we love the blackened seared tuna bites, roasted jalapeños stuffed with pimento cheese (HOT!), Jazzy Chicken with pineapple cream sauce... and pretty much any fresh seafood dish. There is good variety in their daily specials. This week, I was craving coconut shrimp-- theirs has a light, crispy breading that doesn't overpower the dish. Also, our server that day offered us to-go cups because we hadn't finished our iced teas; he then brought two cups back to the table, filled with fresh beverages. Very thoughtful. We never leave disappointed. Goombays is always worth the trip, from near or far!

Great food and service! Decore was very tropical beachy. A group at the bar had obviously been there a bit too long...very loud and crude...but other than that, we'll be back!

Best thing...my dogs very accommodating...watress offered water for the...great service..Sat outside..could've been bigger but still great...ordered inside..change the front in where doors on street and whole other dinning area!!! Definitely will be back

Great place to dine... Great collection of beers... Alligator meat, supposedly harmlessly fried! Tried the Jamaican chicken wings, Chicken Quesadilla, Fish and Chips and a pound full of Snow Crab legs... Wonderful experience... If you are in OBX, you should definitely try this place out...

We came here for lunch with nine people. We were accommodated quickly. It seemed too have a pretty well stocked bar with a good selection of signature drinks, and some local beers too. Everyone was pleased with their orders. However if you're a fish and chips purist I recommend staying away from that choice. I had the Crab Cake Burger and found it to be divine. The prices seemed reasonable to me.

Goombays did not disappoint!! Delicious! Tried the tuna steak, halibut, alligator bites, and crab dip. All excellent! The kid drinks are super neat too. One of our kids got a Shirley Temple and the grenadine was inside a toy shark's mouth. He had to flip the shark to pour it into his pop. He loved it! So fun!

We had a great time. Environment was clean and friendly. Our waitress Maria handled our party of 13 with skill and a great sense of humor. Food was awesome and reasonably priced. We will definitely return next time we're in the area. We closed the place the night we were there.

We are usually down during the busy season of summer. So glad we came to goombays in the slower season. This wasn’t our first time eating here but by far my favorite experience! We started with the crab dip which was yummy. I had the southwestern crab cake salad and it was delicious. Crab cake was packed with crab meat and the salad was fresh with lots of flavor. My boyfriend had the choose 2 which came with fried flounder and oysters. It was the thicket filet of flounder I’ve ever seen. We are both really picky about oysters, me especially coming from a multi-generational waterman family. Im pleased to note that the oysters were cooked perfect! Our server Lucas was very attentive and friendly.

The service was great, prompt, friendly and accommodating of our large party. The vibe of the restaurant is fun and playful and all of us throughly enjoyed our dishes. I had the seafood Kingston and it was fantastic. The tuna Oscar was highly praised and the crab legs were delish. Great vibes, great food.

Delicious! Really friendly staff and polite, efficient service the entire time. All the food was so good! Lots of flavor and nothing over fried. Generous portions of fish. I would come here again in a heart beat and would definitely bring friends and family.

We always are up for trying new places when we head to the beach each year and this year we had a great pick at Goombays. The wait was short, atmosphere super laid back and enjoyable and food was amazing! This was the top taste for food we had on our trip this year. Everything was great. There are good kid options as well. Grilled cheese and hot dogs with fries still please ours over most. Fries were especially delicious. There is also a lot of Merch to choose from although thats not our norm we were looking because of the unique items. Take a trip here...it will be worth it based on our first trip. We will be back.

We really enjoyed our meals at Goombay’s! The delicious appetizer of coconut shrimp, jalapeño crab balls and a tempura style shrimp did not disappoint. Entree’s we tried were the catch of the day with grits and veggies & the pecan encrusted grouper with rice and black beans. Both were extremely good. Our server, Hope, was wonderful! Make sure to visit this establishment when you are in town.
