B-ty Institute

On Wednesday (02/08/23) I was fortunate enough to land an appointment for an all natural wash, conditioner, and this beautiful twist style all in for (FREE) of charge.
My professional stylists were Ms.Hailey & Mrs Christine, under the close supervision of the Instructor Ms Grace.
I had a great experience from the moment I entered until the time I departed.
They perform free services occasionally as appreciation to the community so call or stop by you won't regret it!!!!

When I realized I wanted to pursue the career path of hair I knew I wanted to learn from the best. As I was researching beauty schools in the area I kept running into an issue. It seemed that most name brand beauty schools did not properly cover information about textured hair or natural hair. I knew I wanted to know about ALL types of hair care and hair styling so I chose B-ty Institute. I attended B-ty Institute for the Spring 2023 semester and went in knowing NOTHING about braiding hair; I left graduating with great grades and many new skills about Natural Hair Care and Styling, and also business practices in the beauty industry. I struggled so much throughout the program, but Miss Grace believed in me and helped me believe in myself. Miss Grace made sure I didn’t quit even when I wanted to give up and could not see myself finishing the program. I definitely had to believe in myself and put in the hard work, however Miss Grace went above and beyond by giving me her extra time and energy. Multiple times she would stay after class with me to make sure I understood the curriculum and the homework assigned that week. She held weekly workshops to ensure all students could get extra help and get one-on-one time with her. Not only did Miss Grace guide me to successfully completing her Natural Hair Care program, she also held a four hour study session to prepare me to take the North Carolina Natural Hair Care Specialist Practical Exam. I was able to pass both the Practical and Theory exams. I received a score of 99 on the Theory exam and an 89 on the Practical exam. I have applied for my Natural Hair Care Specialist License and have been approved and will be receiving the physical copy of my license. I definitely had to work extremely hard, but with the help of Miss Grace teaching, guiding, and encouraging me, I was able to develop my self-esteem and confidence to heights I didn't think were possible. I would love to thank her for believing in me, seeing my potential, and pushing me super hard to achieve my best.

Attending B-Ty Institute for natural hair was the best decision to make. Learning the importance of hair care, how to properly braid, and taking care of clients helped with my development in the industry. Furthermore, Ms.Grace is an amazing teacher and she gave me the best advice when I became doubtful. I HIGHLY recommend this school! You’ll receive the best!

If you are looking for a natural hair school, this is the best place to be, not only will you learn how to make hair but also everything about business part of this industry.
I am super happy I chose this place, I am very grateful for all I have learnt and achieved through the school.

This school far exceeded my expectations! I previously attended cosmetology school, but wanted to specialize in natural hair. I immediately saw where my money went when I arrived for the first day of class with a dufflebag FULL of supplies for me to use and KEEP! Ms. Grace saw the potential in each of us and pushed us to be the best stylist and person we can be. I learned far more in this 10 week program than I did 1.5 years at cosmetology school. I can't recommend this program enough to those wanting to pursue a career in natural hair care!

WHERE DO I START !?! I literally was NOT about to be in school fall 2022, but Ms. Grace MADE SURE I was able to attend. This was one of THE BEST decisions of my life. The course was INTENSE as promised and I learned SOOOOO much. Comparing and hearing stories around salons and shops, this WAS THE BEST place to be. I NEEDED to be legal in this industry and Ms. Grace trained this Phoenix !!! Not ever have I ever been able to develop a sister hood like this one either. Please just watch because the sky is the basement. Thank you soooooooo much Ms. Grace for ALL of your time, effort, process, and many other things there simply aren't enough words for. Stay Amazing !

I would like to thank Grace and her amazing students for a great job on my locs. I needed interlock maintenance and I searched the area for a loctician. My search ended when I found this wonderful lady. She gave me two options, either she does my hair on a regular price or one of her students does it at an affordable price. The students does a great job for such an affordable price.The student who worked on my hair did an amazing job. I’ve got lot of compliments and I’ll return. Thank you!!!

When I came in my dreads were in pretty rough shape and were starting to fall apart from lack of upkeep. I wanted to get them interlocked to help keep them together through the summer.

My stylist was the owner/instructor, and she was very professional and was flexible with my schedule. She was able to repair and strengthen my dreads, with minimal discomfort and at a relatively quick pace. It has now been 4 or 5 months, and my dreads are still holding together well.

The only less-than-awesome part of the experience was the price was much higher than expected. The website said interlocks are $50-$85, but I paid closer to $130. That said, she did great work, so I was happy to pay it and would definitely recommend this salon to others.

I must say first and foremost that I rarely write reviews but its only right that I write this one. This was a great experience. From the time I walked in the door, it felt like a totally different atmosphere from what I've experienced in the past with other places. The greetings and smiles were beyond amazing! The instructor was super nice and very hands on with her inspiring students. I must add that all the ladies there was an inspiration to me, just by talking to them and hearing how dedicated they are to see it through and accomplish their goals. They have a small sisterhood going on in there and are willing to help the next person if needed. It was just an overall great time being there. I strongly suggest you check them out:)) Thanks again ladies!!!!

How do I take any credit for passing my practical without first thanking God and then you !! You are truly amazing teacher !! Without you giving me that black magic strong love I never would have had the confidence to fulfill my dreams !! It ‘s true all this time the stuff you taught me never left because you scared me straight with the knowledge of natural hairstyling !!! I want to tell you because of you I can be black and successful!!! Truly one of the happiest days of my life !!! Thank you so much

I don’t usually do this but from the time my hair started I was thinking “I’m definitely writing a review!” I am extremely pleased with my micro braids done by the students here. I told them about my bad experience, they made a promise, then followed through perfectly! I will will probably try to be a regular because my hair looks absolutely amazing.

B-ty Institute caters to their students. They provide a learning environment that is both interesting and rewarding for the students. The Natural Hair Care industry is booming and the students at B-ty Institute receive nothing but the best. The instructors provide the students with firsthand knowledge. Also they allow them to showcase their creativity and push them to reach their highest potential. The institute grooms the students to be leaders of the Natural Hair Care field. The programs provided at B-ty Institute are condensed into Trimesters to be manageable for the students because the Institute understands that these students have lives outside of class and cooperate with each of them to accomplish their goals.The students are taught leadership skills and provide the community with quality services. Overall this school is worth the tuition, time, and effort for those who are passionate about Hair and Art.

Excellent! Very clean and friendly atmosphere! My sengalese twist were done very very quickly and looked beautiful! I would definelty recommend getting your natural hairstyle done by these students.

I enrolled in B-TY Institute Fall 2019 and graduated November 2019.I truly enjoyed the class and loved that I was able to be myself and learn at my own pace. Ms. Grace was very patient with me to say the least lol. I was fortunate enough to attend her school on a scholarship and paid only for my supply kit which totaled $2,000. The only negative I can say is that morning classes were not an option, although that would have really helped with the balance of school and home life. The price of my kit was steep for me considering the quality of the supplies. Now that I have graduated and am working in a salon, i have to rebuy alot of my supplies because of the quality. My kit compared to other coworkers in my salon are of higher quality and they are still using alot of the items they used in school and paid a third of what i did for it. Trying to build clientele with cheap tools is very hard.
