My wife and I came for a honeymoon back in Nov 2021. Such a great experience. The Bird's Nest was immaculate and the host & hostess were incredible. Beautiful rooms, location, and people! Can recommend without reservation this Bed & Breakfast!

My husband and I stayed two nights in the Bird's Nest when in the area for a wedding. The scenery around the B&B was breathtaking and the B&B was beautiful and clean. The location was perfect for us. The day we arrived, we were able to hike Table Rock and eat dinner at an old firehouse in Traveler's Rest. The next day we were able to drive up Caesar's Head and hike to Raven Cliff Falls, come back shower and head out for a night in downtown Greenville. Each morning we woke up to a wonderfully presented and delicious breakfast. John and Marcia were spectacular hosts and offered us helpful advice on places nearby where we could go as well as well as dinner options. Thank you for helping make our getaway fantastic.

Everything abut our stay at Thistlewood Down Inn was perfect! We stayed in the "birds nest" which provided great comfort and privacy, and so many other amenities: exceptional cleanliness, super-comfortable king size bed, sitting and dining areas, modern bathroom, 360 degree views of the surrounding fields and mountains, a porch for enjoying a glass of wine and the sunset, delicious breakfasts, and interesting conversation with our wonderful hosts, John and Marsha. It was a great staging area for our local explorations. We look forward to returning!

We had an absolutely great time staying at the bird’s nest at The Inn at Thistlewood. John is such a great host. The studio was very private and spacious! It was fully equipped and spotless clean. The interior design has a very nice cozy feel. The views are just amazing and the breakfast was delicious! We would definitely go back. Our overall experience was excellent.

Beautiful spot, both inside and out. We came for a quiet weekend away, rest, reading, relaxing. We had reserved the Tour Eiffel room, but they upgraded us to the Birds Nest when we arrived, giving us a little kitchenette. It was quiet and comfortable inside, but a surprising amount of traffic noise from the nearby road, maybe because of the weekend Farm Show across the way. Our hosts were kind and the breakfast delicious. Easy to get to either Travelers Rest or downtown Greenville for dinner out. Thanks to John and Marsha.

Over Memorial Day weekend I was fortunate to stay in the La Tour Eiffel room for a few nights and to meet and talk over breakfast with Marcia and John. The Inn at Thistlewood Down is tucked away in the midst of beautiful hills and an adjacent lake, but it's also very convenient to the lively and charming cities of Greenville and Traveler's Rest. My room was beautiful -- the bed was so comfortable and the bathroom, with it's tub, rain shower, and the best handmade soap I've ever used, felt super luxurious. I've also stayed at quite a few B&B's as a traveler, both domestically and internationally, and I've never experienced such a great breakfast -- on different mornings I was treated to fresh fruit, eggs, popovers, and pumpkin pancakes, each with a side of snuggles from Nutmeg, John and Marcia's sweetheart Boxer pup. I hope to visit again and recommend the inn to solo travelers, couples, etc. seeking a home away from home!

Stayed at the Thistlewood Down Inn over a weekend while in town to visit a nephew attending Clemson U. The Inn is beautifully decorated, extremely clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Location was perfect. In addition to enjoying the Clemson football game on Saturday, we did wine tasting at a local vineyard, spent some time shopping in Travelers Rest, and enjoyed a great BBQ dinner. Thank you to Marcia and John and for a memorable stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine's Day get away in the "Bird's Nest"--it was superbly comfortable, private, and well-equipped. Walking the trails by the river at the edge of their property was a special treat along with observing the mountain vista that changed throughout the day with creative application of mist, clouds, and sunlight. Speaking of creative--WOW, what a breakfast! We hope to not only get back to Thistlewood Down ourselves, but also invite our friends to experience the generous hospitality of John and Marcia.

Breathtaking views, top notch amenities, and outstanding hosts made the Inn at Thistlewood Down the perfect place to stay for our honeymoon. Location was great for easy access to both downtown Greenville and the beautiful mountains of South Carolina. The Bird's Nest was very comfortable with it's king bed and the fresh breakfast provided each morning was to die for. Highly recommend and will return soon for another escape to the Upstate.

My stay in the Birds Nest was quite impromptu, but John and Marcia were very accommodating all throughout my stay. The property and room are immaculately kept, and you are seemingly in the perfect spot between the city (Downtown Greenville) and great nature trails (Caesar’s Head/DuPont). Their breakfast is plentiful and hearty.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed here on our recent trips to Greenville. As everyone mentions, the breakfast is fantastic and Marcia and John are very gracious hosts. Not to mention that Nutmeg, the family dog, is always happy to greet you. It is truly a great place to get away with wonderful views, but still a short drive into Greenville for dinner. The Birds Nest is a comfortable, wonderful loft that has everything that you need.

I just returned from a very amazing and relaxing weekend spending my time at The Inn at Thistlewood Down! What a beautiful place! The hosts, Marcia and John along with their very friendly dog, Nutmeg are so welcoming you feel like part of the family. They are very well traveled which shows in their bed and breakfast home, and the wonderful breakfasts served, as well as the conversations we experienced. I stayed in the La Tour Effiel suite. The suite ranged from the front of the house through to the back of the house which had fabulous views of the mountains. The king size bed was so comfortable which made for a very good night's sleep. The private bath had a soaking tub, as well as, a rain shower along with luxurious towels and fabulous soaps provided. I was served tea in my room first thing in the morning, which was a nice surprise. The outside deck is a great place to relax and enjoy the sights surrounding the house. This is a bed and breakfast you don't want to miss!

John and Marcia were incredible hosts. The house and property were absolutely beautiful with fantastic views of Table Rock and surrounding areas. My husband surprised me with a birthday celebration - we spent the night then the next day hiking at Table Rock State Park. It is close to Greenville, SC where we had a lovely dinner at the Riverwalk. We enjoyed hanging out later in the evening sharing stories - they have lived all around Europe and have interesting stories to tell but they make you feel like family. Marcia is an incredible cook; breakfast was quite yummy with fruit and whipped cream, bacon, Belgian waffles with pecans, fruit, pure maple syrup, and more whipped cream. She even tried a new recipe, a corned beef hash, that was fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return in the future.

The hospitality was like no other, John and Marcia were amazing. The breakfast was very delicious and served in a very relaxing atmosphere. With breath-taking views and close to Greenville and all the attractions we needed to get to. This B and B is definitely top on our list to revisit and we highly recommend it to anyone trying to get away for a little R and R.

We found the Inn at Thistlewood Down to be exactly what we were looking for - a quiet, very comfortable getaway nestled among the hills. The views in every direction were beautiful and it was an easy drive to the mountains and to many other sights and features in the area. If you enjoy comfortable, tasteful living spaces, the Inn is a great choice. If you're seeking delicious breakfasts that blend European and American tastes, the Inn is a great choice. Most of all, if you simply love being hosted by wonderful people, the Inn and its gracious owners make it a really, really great choice!

A truly wonderful place to get away and relax for the weekend. The B&B itself is lovely - beautifully decorated rooms in a nicely renovated home on a hill overlooking the SC mountains. It's a short distance to some great hiking, just make sure you eat as much of Marsha's breakfast before you go - she's a great cook and you'll need the energy for Table Rock! You couldn't ask for more gracious hosts.

We thoroughly enjoyed our private accommodations in the Birds Nest. Everything was incredibly clean and modern. The breakfasts in the inn were awesome. The location was perfect because our event at Greenbrier Farms was just a few miles away.

Stayed at the Inn at Thistlewood Down for the fourth time this past weekend. Lovely as always! It's a beautiful setting, the rooms are cozy and comfortable, and the breakfast is amazing. A welcoming retreat and a perfect place to stay if you're visiting Furman University - a country retreat.
