Richard H. Gettys Middle School

I am a parent of two students who attended Gettys Middle School from 2014-2017. My daughter and son both had a great experience at Gettys with teachers and were academically successful. My kids were able to navigate the social scene and felt like they had the support of GMS Faculty and Staff with any issues involving other students who were being unkind. As a parent, I also feel like GMS teachers and Administrators handled my kids' discipline appropriately and communicated well with me and their dad. Gettys also tries hard to give kids opportunities to participate in music, sports and after school programs. They also give kids rewards like organizing dances and encouraging them to attend games to support each other which I like a lot. Our kids attended East End Elementary, Gettys Middle and Easley High and all had good experiences. Having lived in different areas of NC and SC, I can tell you that compared to other places, the Upstate has great public schools.

Hi I'm a 6 the grader in gettys middle school and so far it's terrible. You get I'm trouble for pushing on your friends . Some teachers are nice and some can ruin your whole day by the craziest stuff. There are things called "oops passes" and you only get 6 for the whole nine weeks and if your out your teacher will tell you to hold it or give you a lunch detention. A lunch detention is when you sit at a table all by your self and when you get 4 it's a referal. Kids fight kids and teacher don't care and teacher don't care about the students. But if u get "ISS" you think your in a room by yourself your not your in a room that Is fun. So If you are going to this school don't. 😠👿👎👎

The school doesn't focus on education they focus on everything BUT education the school needs to improve...There was also a rat outside the cafeteria and inside the girls locker room last year and this year then there's fights and teachers do nothing about it I'd rather not go to Gettys Middle School...Then when there's altercation with bullying or harassment there's nothing done about it

THIS SCHOOL HAS THERE PRIORITIES BACKWARDS MY 7TH GRADE SON GOT SUSPENDED FOR STOPPING A BULLY FROM MESSING WITH ANOTHER STUDENT!!!!!
