He is kind of off the beaten path, but has great prices on used vehicles. He is straight forward about problems with his cars and adjusts the prices accordingly.

A few years ago, I attempted to buy a used car from this dealer. It was a convertible. I did not have the downpayment up front, so they held the car for me for a short time, while I stopped by and gave them cash toward my full dp of $1000.

I planned a rather lengthy vacation the first day I drove it off the lot after having finished paying my dp on the car. I was traveling about 400 to 600 miles round-trip to Charleston, South Carolina then into Florida. On my way to Charleston on I-26 at a point on the interstate around Orangeburg, where there was a substantial amount of distance between exits, the car started overheating. I couldn't get it completely off the interstate because of the distance between exits in time, before it blew a hole in the engine.

James Motors sold me a lemon right out of the lot. The very first day driving it off the lot, it broke down permanently with no possible way to fix it without having to shuffle out thousands of dollars for a new engine.

I asked James Motors to give me my downpayment back. They refused because they had to fork out money for a tow bill. I asked for at least half my dp back. They still refused.

This is a very unfair and unreasonable dealer, and I have never forgotten the experience; even after 5 or 6 years later. DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU MIGHT GET IN THE LONG RUN!!
