This is a wonderful place to have a meal while visiting. The decor is beautiful and completely handcrafted by local craftsmen and artists, a total rebuild after a devastating fire. The food is freshly prepared and delicious! The service was friendly and personable!

After a fire last year burned the entire cafe to the ground they rebuilt in a matter of months into the majestic handmade cafe you see today! The jalapeño sweet potato soup is awesome and I love the corn fritter too!

I really loved the basque cheesecake, no Graham cracker crust this one is yummy!
The burger was good. The bun was light and had good flavor. The patty didn't really stand out just that bun! The sweet potato fries were too salty for me and a little steak. I think I would go with regular next time. I hear the chicken fried steak was good. The tenders looked okay.

The tea was good and refreshing. The guacamole and chips delicious, salsa was okay.

We went during lunch so the menu was limited. I really want to try the meatloaf for dinner, not served on lunch.

Make reservations ahead of time or may be an hour wait.

Reservations were easy to change (originally booked for 6:30PM, but we wanted to have dinner earlier than expected, so we moved it to right after open). Reservations recommended as there is a dinner crowd that starts to arrive around 5:45PM.

Excellent atmosphere -clean, thoughtful, and welcoming.

We had filet, sirloin, grits, mashed potatoes, and wedge salads. Excellent quality food, well prepared! In in love with the herb butter and how everything felt as if it was made with love.

Great spot!

I was pleasantly surprised by the food at Cafe Homestead. I typically do not enjoy typical American food, but was very hungry and thought I would try the chicken tenders. They were hot, tender, crispy, and had good flavor. The gravy was also creamy, hot, and rich. I was able to ask for a side of fruit for no additional charge. The dinner menu looks different than the lunch menu and I would be interested in trying items from there next time.

Wonderful food! Kind wait staff. A real first class operation. The whole Homestead Heritage Village is worth seeing too. They have a big festival right after Thanksgiving. Their furniture, pottery and other crafts are extremely high quality. Go check them out

After visiting the Silos we Came to this place since we saw it announced on social media and I was not disappointed! Absolutely loved the texas cabin vibe with a modern twist and the amazingly delicious made from scratch dishes! If you are looking for a spot with homemade dishes that are NOT made from anything from a supermarket this is the place to go! Not to forget, The service was top notch as well , very courteous and welcoming staff that made an excellent dining experience. Although we had a late reservation and couldn’t really make it , There are little shops around the Area to go and shop around. I will definitely be back and recommend to any friends or family that make a trip here 👍🏼

The new building is beautiful. It's a shame the old one burned down, but this one is bigger so it is able to accommodate more groups. I recommend making a reservation in advance if you have a big group. Plenty of parking in the gravel parking lot, some spaces are a bit far though. I always enjoy stopping by to eat here, everything is delicious! Make sure to make time to explore the other buildings and gift shop!

Wow wow wow. This place is AMAZING. If you’ve never been to this little village then I suggest you go here, check out the shops, and stop by this restaurant. Cafe Homestead is a really special place. The ambiance is superb with the small cottage style feel. The walls are all cedar wood which is super pleasing to the eye and there is painted art covered all over the walls available for purchase. The servers and hostesses are super friendly and patient. I loved that I didn’t feel rushed as a customer and I felt as if they genuinely appreciated us dinning there. It was a nice change of pace from what I expect when I go out to eat lately.

I ordered the chicken fried steak with potatoes and a side roll, my partner ordered the brisket macaroni and cheese with a wedge salad. Immediately when you take a bite out of the food you can tell it’s made by fresh ingredients. You can also tell it’s all homemade and from scratch. The rolls were soft and warm, potatoes had bits of potato that wasn’t fully mashed which added a nice texture and assured its freshly made from whole potatoes. The chicken fried steak was REALLY good. Thick steaks, crispy buttery breading, and creamy milky gravy. So so so good. The brisket macaroni had good flavor- it had a smokey bbq flavor and the macaroni and cheese was awesome. I just wish the brisket inside was slightly bigger for the price.

I highly recommend and we will definitely be back soon so I can try that quesadilla burger!

For starters GPS brought me passed where the restaurant was, but there are so many buildings on the property and the Cafe isn't distinctively labeled as such. The homestead is religious which threw me off a little as I didn't know originally, but thats beyond the point. Once inside it's very clean and open. My wife's exact words, "it's so clean, it's like a 5-star cracker barrel" and it honestly is. The prices are higher then a normal restaurant that's similar, but here you're getting such good quality food that it makes it worth it. My wife got the trout and I got the chicken dumpling pie and we shared the corn fritters. All the food was delicious and the service was professional, polite and decent speed. We made our visit on a quick weekend trip to Waco and we will consider the Cafe again if we make another trip out this way!

We came to Waco last year to see the bluebonnets and stayed within 2 miles of Homestead Heritage. We ate at the restaurant every night instead of trying to fight traffic in Waco. (So glad we found this) This year we are back again to the same home and went to the temporary location right beside the restaurant being remodeled. The food at Cafe Homestead is truly the best. The service is Outstanding. The sweetest people and the best dressed people. We couldn’t ask for a better dining experience. I’ve had the Brazos Salad several times and it’s scrumptious. I had the brisket tacos asada and the chicken salad sandwich and all have been perfect. We also have the chicken dumpling pie and their bread is delicious as well. I highly recommend Cafe Homestead. Dossie was our server several times and she is so helpful and nice. We will be back when in Waco for sure. A truly great place. The Market is a great place to shop as well.

One of the best, if not thee best, lunch experiences I've had. From the greeter to the wait staff, I could not have asked for any better. The menu is varied and offers an exceptional selection.
The fact that most ingredients are raised on premise makes for a delicious, fresh, meal.
I plan on taking family when they come to visit, it's the kind of establishment you want to show off.
Looking forward to returning for dinner soon.

If we could give this place more than 5 stars, we would. It was our first dining experience in the Waco area & we enjoyed it so much that we skipped the other places on our list and returned to the cafe 3 more times. You can taste the freshness of every ingredient and everything is homemade from the butter and bread to the salsa and sauces. They sell their own ketchup that is excellent. They should bottle their salsa and sell that as well, because it was delicious. The service is very good and we especially enjoyed our conversations with Dassi and Jacob and the hospitality they showed us. We actually preferred the lunch menu over the dinner menu, but both had multiple tasty options. The standouts for us were the spicy chicken sandwich, corn fritters, chicken salad and quesadillas burger. The peach cobbler ala mode was delicious as well. They were in their temporary location when we visited but we can’t wait to go back when they’re in the new building!

The fire in late 2022 was devastating for the whole community, but it’s amazing how they were able to reconstruct this venue from the ground up in just thirteen weeks! The inside is absolutely beautiful and the food is exquisite. A MUST visit if in the area, especially since all the other attractions are free of charge!

We had an amazing meal! It's our first time here, but won't be our last. Every employee we met here was genuinely nice and welcoming. Even though they are in a temporary location, they made it work! They did an awesome job in a large space, making it feel intimate.

I ordered their coffee rubbed hamburger (made the mistake of replying to the waiter, when he asked me, that their coffee burger is good but mine is better...oops!), which comes with bread and butter pickels and creamy horseradish sause. Boss lady ordered thier chicken fried steak, which she said that it was best she's had yet. Appetizer was corn fritters with a creamy habanero dipping sauce...very delicious! Dessert was thier, in season, blackberry cobbler with homemade vanilla icecream. We will definitely be back!

Had a great experience here! I met up with my friends from Dallas and I came from San Antonio. It was a great place to have our Christmas brunch. The staff was so polite and patient with us! (We sat and talked for hours without realizing they were closing already 🙃) definitely will return if I'm ever passing through or when we decide to explore more in the area.
