Texas Great Country Café & Pie Pantry

This place is known for its pies for many reasons. #1 they are good. It is a good place for a good meal for Breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have been here for each. And if you’re lucky you might just see Chip and Joanna Gaines here with their children eating a meal. We have a couple of times. We didn’t today, but we got to enjoy a good meal.

Great home cooking place playing classic country music. Best hamburger steak around. Had be be 2/3 pound. Chicken fry, fried pork chops and breakfast are excellent too. Good tea! Coconut pie is off the hook.

Stoped in for lunch and had an amazing experience. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the food is very fresh, gave me a my mom cooked this vibe. Be sure to save room for at least two slices of pie because there are so many to choose from and they are very tasty!!

We went there on the recommendation from a friend. It was already late on Sunday, so we were prepared to be told it was too late to serve us, but no! We were served, very well I must say. Friendly staff, great food and delicious pies. I couldn't decide which pie to eat, so I ate one there and took another for home!

We stopped by after the State Park and were impressed. Food and service were really good and fast. We had chicken fried steak and grilled fish.

Most excellent cafe! The fried okra was phenomenal and I rarely say that. The food was great as was the service. Very friendly staff! And no visit is complete without pie! Definitely go out of your way to visit this gem!

Great meal. I had lunch, my husband had breakfast.

The breakfast menu at this place is very extensive and the quality is very good. Its a nice atmosphere I would describe it as a locals experience more than a fancy hype place but it is still very comfortable and attractive.
I haven't eaten anything yet that wasn't good and the sweet potato pancakes are a personal favorite.
I've only had the pie once but it was as good as you hear...I just usually am there for breakfast not lunch or dinner.

This place was great. We were there for Sunday dinner and it was busy, it took a little bit to get our food but I understand for the dinner rush. When we got it, it was delicious. My wife had a breakfast scramble and I had the Chicken fried steak. In town for a couple of weeks as we are full time RVers, but we'll be back before we leave for sure.

Love coming to eat here! Service was great. He was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was delicious and the pies are even better!! They had rocky road cheesecake!! Yum!

I went to this cafe to order something to go and the staff greeted me quickly and very friendly. The food was packaged well for travel. There was plenty of tables situated apart where people were not crammed up against each other. Is was a very comfortable atmosphere; my next visit to this area I will definitely sit inside while I dine. Everything was seasoned well and tasted very good.

Omg! The food was delicious and they must have an extra filter on their water or I was really thirsty. Because it was best water around and the service was great.

We had a great dinner. We will be back.

This restaurant is a must for everyone in the Whitney area! They have a wide variety of menu items to satisfy just about any craving, always keep everything cleans and staff is good to keep orders rolling quick for carryout!

The food here is wonderful. I always order the Cowboy Club sandwich with fries and onion rings (pictured in my review). Each time, my food comes to my table consistently great. If ordering a lunch or dinner, look forward to spending about 20$ to 25$ per person if you include a delicious pie, but you get every dollar's worth. 5/5 ⭐ 👍❤

Such a great place to take family too. We all loved the food . Waitress and staff were so friendly. We will definitely be going back. I highly recommend the chocolate cream pie😋

Those was my first visit here. I really enjoyed the breakfast and got plenty to eat. I loved the menu options and this was close to us and somewhere different to eat. Very happy with our meals.

Our service was quite good. It is a very comfortable place, very Hi y'all come in kind of place. Portions were generous and good. Real Country Fried steak, was a hand cut and tenderized piece of beef. Breading was on point and could have just eaten gravy(white), mashed taters and fried okra with the cornbread and been happy and WAY too full. Don't get real CF steak in Minnesota for real. Or cornbread for that matter. Missed it much while exiled up there. Had a piece of pie that was too big-Heavenly Hash- but excellent. Paul had to finish it. About 1/6th of a 9inch pir and 2 inches thick. Good. Flakey crust also. highly recommend it for a meal

Small Cafe with BIG taste! Great experience with the customer service and the food was awesome! We ordered the Lone Star Haystack, I had gravy on the side and husband had it the way it comes. Coffee is really good as well, not sure what brand they use but it wasn't bitter or burnt! Will come back again!

This place is a must go when you are near. The food is always excellent, I have never had a bad meal. I recommend getting there earlier because the place can fill up fast during peak times. Try the chicken fried steak and the hamburger steak, you will not regret it. They also have some of the best looking pies, which are all made fresh.
