Just had a wonderful weekend in Big Bay. Our visit to Thunder Bay Inn left a lifetime memory. Marc & Sue were spectacular Innkeepers and we can taste their vision. Thank you so much for sharing the history of this Northern Gem!

Man this place is really cool! Has a very nostalgic feel and it's cool history behind it. The food is 5/5, service is excellent, and the staff is very welcoming! This was a great getaway from modern society and I'll definitely be coming back!

A group of 6 friends drove up for a night at the inn. The rooms are large and nostalgic but very comfortable and clean. Mark and Sue were great hosts. We ate at the restaurant and the food, drinks and service was fabulous. I certainly would recommend this inn.

We had my wife's family reunion (65+ members) here and camped nearby with Thunder Bay hosting the Gala! Service, atmosphere, and ambience were excellent across the board in this historic landmark! Great hiking and guides. Mark and Sue were great in making you feel at home.

We ate dinner here twice while in town. The whitefish dinner and the hamburger was outstanding! We eat at a lot of different places throughout our travels in Michigan so we know good food and this was it. What made it even better was the awesome waitress Lora, who was extremely friendly, talked about the town and what it is like living there. Then the owner Mark came over and started talking to us. What a cool guy! Gave us a tour and the history of the restaurant and inn! Very, very awesome vacation we had and what made it over the top was the wait staff and the owner. Will definitely be going there again!

I stopped in here for a late lunch and got the Cudighi Sandwich with Fries. It's been ten years since I had a Cudighi. It was good, really good. Was it the best one ever? I don't know, I don't remember, but I loved it. A bit more sauce would have been nice, but it was good anyway. The copious amounts of cheese made up for it.

The service was great and I loved my sandwich.

This is an historic inn and the rooms reflect the period. Service was excellent and the restaurant is also excellent. Be sure to get the chef’s daily special. The location is beautiful but pretty remote, so this is definitely a destination.

Amazing place to visit. We thought it was a lot closer to marquette than it was in reality, and that ended up making Big Bay and the Thunder Bay Inn just that much more spectacular. The very small town makes staying there as a guest feel like your part of the community. The staff was very friendly, the Henry Ford room was beautiful, and the Inn was just jam-packed with history. The owner was so nice and took the time to talk with me and my partner about the history and stories of the Inn and the town. In the morning, since we were the only guests that night in march, he took us on a full tour of the building and walked us through the years that it had been there. He has a tremendous vision for the Thunder Bay Inn to come, and I urge anyone who reads this review to take the time to visit Thunder Bay the next time you're in the U.P. Our only regret was that we only spent one night there, and we will definitely be visiting again.

We were pleasantly surprised to learn the history of the Inn. You are instantly transported back in time to the 1940s and greeted with many artifacts and historic pictures of Mr Henry Ford who built the Inn. Previously in the 1910s it was a general store for patrons of the lumber industry.

The inn is about 30 minutes north of Marquette and made for a great hub outside the "big" town. Our room had a wash sink in it which was custom for a lot of homes and buildings during that time. Some rooms have a full bath.

When entering you'll go through the restaurant first which can be confusing but we let someone know we needed to check in and they brought us to the center room. After checking in they'll tell you to enter using the front porch with a door code. All bedrooms are up the stairs. If your room does not come with a full bath, there is a communal bath in the hall. The ladies bath has a bathtub if you have kids and a shower. The shower pressure is PIERCINGLY good if you're into that haha. The men's is a communal open locker room style setup which my boyfriend did not care for but we were the only ones there during our stay. Will stay again for the price we paid and location.

Usually a tasty and fairly priced meal. Splurged on desserts, 7 layer Chocolate Cake and a piece Neopolitin Cake. To our surprise both cakes basically the same. Always thought Neopolitin meant chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Silly us. This time it meant chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate, very much like the 7 layer chocolate. At $7.50 a piece it left feeling greatly disappointed. And they were most likely GFS. Oh but yes, the Reuben and Chef Salad were delicious as usual.

The owners and his family “Daniel” that served us were personable and very engaging.
Food was great, hospitality awesome and tour outstanding.
Bless this family for taking on such an important piece of history and giving of themselves.

New owners, Super nice. Older building but nicely kept. They might want to get some USB ports in the rooms. I know it's a weird request but in our travels, most stays have them.
The View was definitely the highlight of our stay and the distance to all the commercial and beaches walking distance. Would we stay again? ABSOLUTELY!

Absolute classic. The restaurant/bar is old school and has wonderful food and drinks. The rooms are a trip back in time yet very, very clean and in great shape. You literally go up an old wooden staircase to the rooms. The porch is vintage small town hotel, and the location of the inn is perfect.

We ate at Thunder Bay Inn and had the Supreme Pizza it was wonderful. My husband said the crust was so good you didn't even need any toppings but the toppings were delicious. It was perfect we are coming back to spend a night at the hotel and will be able to try more of what the restuarant has to offer.
