Please be warned of Gene Falciano and his accounting services in Long Beach. I dont like to write negative reviews but I have given him many chances to return my calls and e-mails and rectify the situation he created.
Lisa (his wife?) has blown me off multiple times as well before completing not responding. Gene not only made numerous and expensive mistakes on my tax returns but he blatantly ignores request for help. VERY unprofessional and unethical. Reporting him to IRS and BBB.

In the past I have used overpriced Manhattan CPAs to file my state and federal taxes. Despite their exorbitant rate they provided very little in terms of value. So this year I noticed Falciano & O'Grady right down the street from me and I thought, its just a simple tax return; I'll give them a go. Things started off well; I met with Gene Falciano; he took the time to speak with me, get familiar with my situation. Tax day fast approaching, the office called me to come in and sign the e-file consents and pay their fee, which, by the way, was far from cheap. I did so and waited for my refund. And waited. And waited.

After unsuccessfully attempting to check the status of my refund on the IRS website, I called the office and left a message. No reply. I called again and spoke to the secretary who directed me to the IRS website. I said I have done that and they have no record of my filing. Perplexed she said she would have someone get in touch with me. No one ever did. I sent an email and received no response. I amped up my calling and spoke with Lisa, possibly Gene's wife, not a CPA. She said there was a glitch with their software and my return was not filed. She said they were working with the company to see "what happened" and promised me she would update me shortly. She never has.

I called and asked to speak with Gene last Wednesday. His secretary said he wouldn't be back in until Tuesday but after I explained how I had been trying to get in touch with him for weeks to no avail she said she would see if he could call me before then. Well naturally that didn't happen- no call, no email. I tried calling and emailing today which given their preference for ignoring problems, I don't exactly anticipate a speedy reply.

I was extremely patient and understanding with them. I realize mistakes do happen. What makes someone a professional and a decent human being though is the ability to recognize the mistake, work quickly to resolve the problem and keep your client informed. The truth of the matter is if they had only 1.) kept me updated or 2.) not forced me to initiate all communication and then ignore me or 3.) simply let me know the daily progress, even if its not much, I would have been much much less upset than I am now.

Not filing your taxes brings you to the attention of the IRS, costs you fees and penalties and puts one in a very precarious financial situation when you're depending on that money. The professional you entrust to do a relatively simply tax filing should realize this.

I am horrified by this firm and not only their lack of skill at their job, but more by their complete lack of courtesy.

I would wholeheartedly implore you to find another accountant. I don't know how firms like this continue to exist. Given the dogged determination they set off to rectify a problem that is clearly somewhere on their end, who could ever entrust anything of importance to them?

I left another voicemail and sent an email three days ago... still not an acknowledgement...
